That last statement about how Berk would hold the secret about dragons until the world is ready, is to imply that in IRL there are dragons still around. It’s just that some Viking land is keeping it secret because humanity is no where near ready for dragons to come back.
@Darkstar literally no one here believes there are dragons somewhere on this planet lmao Op said that writers implied that so the story could feel more real to us. What are you even on about, wtf lol
yes, especially considering that these movies are after all originally made more for children, and I don't know about you but when I was a kid I still believed in the possibility of magic and dragons. If I saw this as a kid, I would have loved to be given hope like that
I just watched the first second and third yesterday. For the first one I was sad about him not finding his mom. The second one I was crying cuz the wife just met the dad again and here this Drago bloody ness comes screaming like a moron swinging his stick and controlling toothless. The third one I cried like never before and like there was no tomorrow because toothless left.I was like...Im not crying for a dragon.imnot I'm not deep breath in deep breath out Me after:😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭TOOTHLESS COME BACK
I really think that the best writing decision made in this movie was to add more Stoick into it, really to show what an amazing person he was and how people like that have an effect on our lives. We started out thinking of him one way in the first movie, but he ended in the trilogy as such an epic patriarch. An amazing trilogy, thank you for letting us journey through it with you!
When Hiccup says "We've dealt with his kind before," he is referring to the main antagonist of the TV series, Dragons: Race to the Edge. It's a great series with a spectacularly heart-pounding final fight, and I highly recommend it.
When they said that hiccup gave toothless that new tail before and he didn't want it, it did happen. It was I think it was a special called 'Gift of the Night Fury'. It was after How To Train Your Dragon 1.
The tail fin toothless "didnt want before" refers to a christmas short they had done a while ago. It's most likely the case that almost all spin off shows of httyd are canon(except for rescue riders)
Man... same. I came to love Toothless so much that I was depressed after the movie as if I was the one who parted ways with Toothless 😭 the whole trilogy I was like "if something ever happens to Toothless I'm throwing hands👊💣🪓👿" that one moment when he fell underwater in the 2nd movie I panicked and cried 😂 dude how did they make a character this lovable... must be that it also reminds me of my precious cat that died a couple years ago
I bawled even harder when I realized that the last time Hiccup placed his hand on Toothless’s head was also exactly like the first time. 🥺 The symmetry had me like 😭😭😭😭😭😭 This is one of my all time favorite movies and it makes me happy to see that others love it so much. Thank you for your sincere reaction.
27:01 The gateway may seem impossible but it makes sense once you look at the rocks surrounding it. It's a massive volcanic caldera. A subterranean maze of bioluminecent plant life, crystals and more. To be more basic; a sunken volcano who leads straight into the crust and further. *I wanted to be a scientist when I was a kid and still a nerd at it*
I’m so glad you reacted to this amazing trilogy, and that you loved it! I’m 22 and have grown up watching httyd religiously. My watch count for the first film is for sure up in the thousands, and i fall in love with it every. Single. Time. And still cry every time too 😅 so thank you for reacting to httyd, I always love people experiencing it for the first time ❤️❤️
I like how this movie fully realized what the second film more or less admitted. That humans and dragons, in the end, couldn't really live together for long.
Thinking about how hard it must have been for the riders to say goodbye to their dragons made me realize.. So they've had their dragons for about 5 or so years, and then you realize Valka and Cloudjumper spent a good 21 YEARS of their lives together! 😭 I kinda wish they gave Valka and Cloudjumper a little more screen time when they were all saying goodbye, though I suppose the look they give each other says more than the words could.
Every time I watch a HTTYD3 reaction, I love to share my story of when I first watched it ❤ So I first saw it in theaters with my mom. The fun part of it, though, is that we were the only two people in the theater watching it! We loved the first two and this was the only one we were able to watch as it came out. Being able to watch it alone in the theater was an amazing experience. During the end of the movie we were both openly sobbing. It was my favorite theater experience and one of my favorite memories I have with my mom, seeing the ending to one of our favorite trilogies together ❤
Btw, The lightfury is a subspecies of the nightfury. So the Nightfury and Lightfury can have healthy offspring that can also have babies. But there not the same species.
I appreciate how the movies ended the same way as the book series, to the point of dragons going away. The books had it happen more gradually but the end result was more bittersweet in the books as elderly Hiccup writes his story and knows that one day Toothless will fly away for good.
Man, I lost it. I was holding it together for most of the movie.. But when Hiccup took his children by the hands.. and held them out.. to touch Toothless... that was it. that was the moment. The moment where Hiccup's life changed.. and he shared that with his children.. with his friend. My tears flowed like the Waterfall at the Edge of the World..
21:29 Watch the holiday special shortfilm, "Gift of the Night Fury", that was released between the first and second films. It'll show you when Hiccup originally designed this self-adjusting prosthetic tail for Toothless, and why Toothless didn't want it.
I knew the flashback with Stoic talking about the mom would get you! 😭 The TV shows are good, Race to the Edge is my fave. They also show many more dragons during the shows so that's fun
I'm so glad you loved it, I was sobbing by the end x3 Such a beautiful trilogy, and I'm happy you really appreciated the beautiful animation in this one and how it improved over time since the first movie. Dreamworks is really good at doing series' as they know where to end it, as you commented on :D. Fun fact: the story of these three movies was planned from the beginning, then split into three parts, which is why none of them feel out of place or progressively worse and created only for profit as many series tend to feel. The new prosthetic tail we first see in the httyd christmas short Gift of the Night Fury, where Hiccup makes it for toothless but toothless doesn't accept it as he wants to always fly with Hiccup, which is mentioned in this movie :p Can't wait to see your future reactions! I HIGHLY recommend Wolfwalkers, a fully hand-drawn animation by an extremely underrated studio Cartoon Saloon which came out last November.
This movie is such a great example of how far animation technology has come in the last 10 years! If you notice in the first one, they kept the setting very rocky with rough terrain. At the time, it was really hard to animate things like tall grasses and have them interact with the characters movement in a way that looked natural. In this one, they were able to incorporate all kinds of new environments, like foliage and tall grass and sand. It all looks SO good 😊
I’ve always loved this movie, particularly for Grimmel. Due to the fact that he was literally written and designed to be the version of Hiccup that killed the night fury he shot down, it’s a perfect parallel that sets a dangerous tone throughout the chase between Grimmel and the Berkians which the other films hadn’t made first, giving this film a much more unique conflict. On top of this, he’s the only antagonist in the franchise that managed to beat Hiccup, given that even though he didn’t succeed in killing Toothless nor Hiccup he still not only managed to once again create a divide between Berk and its dragons but more so forced one between Hiccup and Toothless having also introduced the Light Fury. Due to this, he caused the inevitable choice Hiccup had to made, being to exile the dragons of Berk to the hidden world for their own protection from the human world, which puts the conflict between Viking and dragon practically almost back to square-one. Even in death, he didn’t have to necessarily win as he also ensured that Berk and its dragons lost, which deems him the greatest villain in the franchise; that’s why I adored this movie ever since I saw it in cinemas.
Aaaahhhh I was waiting for this, unfortunately I am not on Patreon,so had to wait for your RUclips upload, so sad it's finished 😭 but so glad you did this Trilogy! 🤗🥰

If you haven’t seen where the tail that Toothless can fly with by himself was first introduced, it’s in a holiday special called Gift Of The Night Fury, from 2011. Also the timeskip to when Hiccup, Astrid, and their kids went to visit the hidden world is 10 years, which is explained in ANOTHER holiday special that was released the Christmas after the third movie came out.
In the first how to train your dragon movie when pick up put the thing on his tail or something on his tail I forgot he jumped around because he used the CGI for his cat his cat had tape on his tail so he jumped around
The ending is actually part of the book series (which you should give a listen or read to), they are very different but very similar. This series little nods to the books made the movie experience great when I watched it. Like you, I think this was a great place to end the series and I love your reactions!
The third movie is a perfect ending to the amazing, deep, life-changing trilogy. It showed in an incredibly beautiful way that with love come responsibilities, difficult decisions, and loss. I love that in the second movie, Hiccup was afraid that he would never become as great, brave, and selfless as Stoick. But in the third movie, he grew and proved all these qualities. Hiccup showed the purest and selfless form of love towards Toothless. It took a lot of braveness and greatness to let him go to thrive and be safe in a habitat created perfectly for dragons. This trilogy has changed my mind, my heart, and my soul. It lives in me all the time and will do so for the rest of my days.
Thank you for this reaction man. This is without a doubt my favourite movie of all time and it's such a beautiful and moving conclusion to the trilogy. Thank you.
who else cried at the end of the third movie not just because it was the end, but because people like me grew up watching these films and cartoons as kids, back then we always thought that the How to train your dragon franchise would never end am i right? and when we saw it actually end we shed tears of sadness and joy, we were sad to see it end but we were happy that we got to grow up watching the best movie franchise this world has ever seen. tell me if im wrong guys.
I think it was explained in the wiki how the light fury can disappear in thin air. It's said that whenever it passes throught it's fire, its scales heats up and becomes almost like a mirror that reflects its surroundings.
I just realized that the last movie spans over ten years! He’s at least 22 in the first half, then by winter at the end he’s 23, then a ten year skip to the end credit scene abs He’s 33! He’s old lol
41:06 It was actually about 10 years, a longer period of time than the amount of time that actually spans the trilogy. Kinda explains why Hiccup had to make Toothless remember again.
Some the narration Hiccup gives use at the end of the movie, particularly the line “there were dragons when I was a boy” is repetitively used in the introductions of the books. This nod to Cressida Cowell’s original work is very nice.
When Hiccup and Astrid brought their kids to the Hidden World to meet Toothless, it was 10 years after the dragons left. If u loved the movies, there's a tv series too. Dreamworks Dragons: Riders of Berk. It has 2 seasons, takes place not long after the 1st movie. Then there's a follow-up series called 'Race to the Edge' that's about 6 seasons that takes place a few years later but before the 2nd movie. It's really good too. HTTYD is by far some of Dreamworks finest pieces in history. It's gonna be hard to top. Thank u, and I'm glad u enjoyed the trilogy ;) Welcome to the fan club And you're right. Toothless is like a cat. That's what makes him so adorable
I know I'm a bit late, but if you want as you asked in the dragon 2 reaction, there are series of httyd. In between the 1st and 2nd movie : - (Legend Of the Boneknapper: 1 Episode) - (Book Of Dragons : 1 Episode) - (Gift Of The Nightfury : 1 Episode) - Riders Of Berk : Season 1 (20 Episodes) - Defenders Of Berk : Season 2 (20 Episodes) - (Dawn Of The Dragon Racers : 1 Episode) - Race To The Edge : 6 Seasons (6*13 Episodes) After the 3rd movie : - (Homecoming : 1 Episode) - (Snoggletog Log : 1 Episode)
By far, one of my favorite franchises from Dreamworks. Huge fan of it and the ending was bittersweet. Toothless is the best; freaking love him so much. :D
Here are the names of Hiccup and Astrid's children The Girls name is *Zephyr* The Boys name is *Nuffink* Here are the names of Toothless and the Light Fury's children The Black one with Blue eyes is *Dart* and she's a girl The White one with Green eyes is *Pouncer* and he's a boy The Black one with Green eyes is *Ruffrunner* and he's a boy New dragons introduced in this movie Light Fury: the White Dragon that Toothless fell in love with Crimson Goregutter: the big red and purple dragon with antlers that became friends with the baby Gronkle Hobgobbler: the tiny wood eating termite like dragons that kept scaring Gobber Deathgripper: the scorpion like dragons that Grimmel had following him Fireworm: the tiny glowing dragons that fly by Astrid, Hiccup and Stormfly in the hidden world Night Light: the Baby dragons that Toothless and the Light Fury gave birth to Edit: 38:17 also those two people on the left behind Astrid, those are Astrid's parents, enjoy it while it lasts cause this is the only time in the entire franchise that we get to see them, we don't even learn their names
Ive watched these movie dozens of times but im just noticing this now. At 28:38 the Bewilderbeast thats shown is the same one Toothless fought in the 2nd movie. I saw it but never saw the missing horn, also I somehow never realized that there are more LightFurys in the scene. Makes me wonder why Grimmel never went after them (considering he kinda had a fetish for killing Nightfurys), Its never really shown but I imagine they can be just as deadly (especially during the day when Nightfury would be easy to see). Other than that, these reactions are great, HTTYD is my favourite movie/franchise ever.
if you are interested in watching more of these characters, there is actualy a series with 8 seasons that takes place somewhere between the first and second movies! (sorry for my bad english)
I remember watching this in theaters with my dad, I was like fifteen abs I was crying and cheering half the time, and there was a little four or five year old that was sitting next to me and she was looking at me like I was crazy lol…… my dad was too
there are 3 lower budget TV-shows called riders of berk, defenders of berk and race to the edge (1 season with 20 episodes of the first two and 6 seasons of 13 episodes of rtte)
IDK WHY but i guess i wanted to comment this: So I guess that Nightfurys and Lightfurys are different breeds like there would be female and male Lightfurys, and then female and male Nightfurys, so what Toothless and the Lightfury had were basically hybrids of the two, which is interesting to me. :D
Loved your reaction to this trilogy. I weep buckets every time, with each movie. If you can find it, you may enjoy the movie The Flight of Dragons from the early 80s; it’s pretty cool.
Fun fact, Toothless dooesnt camo, he makes himself completly invisable, or teleports, one of the 2. Light fury cloaks, or camo's so shes not completly unseeable, but when toothless does that hes just gone, out of sight completly. I have all of these details because I'm a die hard httyd fan. Saw first movie in theators when i was 5, and I own every film realted to it. All shows on disk, movies, and all the shorts. I even do edits on my channel of these movies.
Now i'm looking for ur reaction to the newest one. It's How to train your dragon: Homecoming. It's not a full movie though, but I hope you'll react to it. Toothless' kids are the cutest 🤧💗
Funfact: in one episode of the "How To Train Your Dragon" show Hiccup had already built a tail that Toothless could use without his help at 15/16 years old when all the dragons were supposed for 3 days or something like that to travel for searching a mate I think, the point is at the end of the episode Toothless come back but he wasn't looking for another Night Fury but for Hiccup's vicking hat he lost in the sea and that' so sweet I'm gonna cry. Also we could already see in that episode how Hiccup question himself who he actually is and what he's gonna do if Toothless never came back. That's the episode where Hiccup take the path that will lead him to the second movie and in the meantime giving us more enemies that in the third movie don't really appear but if you and watch the show you can sense that is basically them orchestrating in the background. And that's only one of the episodes of the first season! There are too many but I loved every adventure of them! 😄
I love that at 4:39, you're like "another night fury!" And your cat walks into frame xD
Perfect timing on his cat's part?
YES🤣😂😂
His cat:I am night fury

The ending is actually part of the book series (which you should give a listen or read to), they are very different but very similar. This series little nods to the books made the movie experience great when I watched it. Like you, I think this was a great place to end the series and I love your reactions!
one of the only trilogy's that makes me BAWL my eyes out the whole time
They could maybe make another trilogy in the how to train your dragon universe based on different characters that could possibly work.
Yess
Well, you’re lucky, Dragons: The Nine Realms is a thing now, set 1300 years after the events of the movies, in the modern world.
@@justscpf1630 I know yet so many people hated Dragons: The Nine Realms and says this show ruined the httyd trilogy
@@justscpf1630 legit the worst idea for a series ever conceived.
By the way, the holiday short Gift of The Nightfury is where Hiccup first builds the independent tail for Toothless. It’s really good
The animation on this film was top tier!
You should watch the "Gift of the Night Fury" holiday special. It's short but also super cute and touching.
Even though ive seen this movie a hundred times, the ending when Toothless leaves still makes me sob..
The time jump is actually 9 years later, when hiccup and toothless are 30!
Will you be watching the shorts and series - Gift of the Night Fury, Rider of Berk, Defenders of Berk, Race to the Edge, Homecoming?
You shold watch "The gift of the Night Fury", It happened before the 2° movie. It's a short movie, 30 minutes i think.
I love the cat allways go to your room in part 1 part 2 end part 3
That's Beemo! She's the best
I'm actually new here😁 everyone should subscribe to him end like ❤ end stay safe🙏
Thank u, and I'm glad u enjoyed the trilogy ;) Welcome to the fan club
And you're right. Toothless is like a cat. That's what makes him so adorable
36:58 as soon as Toothless hugged Hiccup I broke 😭😭😭
I know I'm a bit late, but if you want as you asked in the dragon 2 reaction, there are series of httyd.
In between the 1st and 2nd movie :
- (Legend Of the Boneknapper: 1 Episode)
- (Book Of Dragons : 1 Episode)
- (Gift Of The Nightfury : 1 Episode)
- Riders Of Berk : Season 1 (20 Episodes)
- Defenders Of Berk : Season 2 (20 Episodes)
- (Dawn Of The Dragon Racers : 1 Episode)
- Race To The Edge : 6 Seasons (6*13 Episodes)
After the 3rd movie :
- (Homecoming : 1 Episode)
- (Snoggletog Log : 1 Episode)
This is only one cartoon where I almost cry. I dont know how Dreamworks can maked this soo sad.
18:29 iconic scene 😂😂😂😂
By far, one of my favorite franchises from Dreamworks. Huge fan of it and the ending was bittersweet. Toothless is the best; freaking love him so much. :D
is it just me or is the white dragons communication is MOANING...... SUPER AWKWARD!
Here are the names of Hiccup and Astrid's children
The Girls name is *Zephyr*
The Boys name is *Nuffink*
Here are the names of Toothless and the Light Fury's children
The Black one with Blue eyes is *Dart* and she's a girl
The White one with Green eyes is *Pouncer* and he's a boy
The Black one with Green eyes is *Ruffrunner* and he's a boy
New dragons introduced in this movie
Light Fury: the White Dragon that Toothless fell in love with
Crimson Goregutter: the big red and purple dragon with antlers that became friends with the baby Gronkle
Hobgobbler: the tiny wood eating termite like dragons that kept scaring Gobber
Deathgripper: the scorpion like dragons that Grimmel had following him
Fireworm: the tiny glowing dragons that fly by Astrid, Hiccup and Stormfly in the hidden world
Night Light: the Baby dragons that Toothless and the Light Fury gave birth to
Edit: 38:17 also those two people on the left behind Astrid, those are Astrid's parents, enjoy it while it lasts cause this is the only time in the entire franchise that we get to see them, we don't even learn their names
I cried in all the movies and series is one of the best movies in the world and the best for me, forever how to train your dragon
I watched the 3 films and every film of httyd makes me cry
Its okay to cry bro! Dont be ashamed for haveing feelings! I mean who didn't cry when hiccup had to let go of toothless forever ?!
Finally! I really love your reaction to the other parts. HTTYD is one of my favorite movie 🥺🖤
IDK WHY but i guess i wanted to comment this:
So I guess that Nightfurys and Lightfurys are different breeds like there would be female and male Lightfurys, and then female and male Nightfurys, so what Toothless and the Lightfury had were basically hybrids of the two, which is interesting to me. :D
Loved your reaction to this trilogy. I weep buckets every time, with each movie. If you can find it, you may enjoy the movie The Flight of Dragons from the early 80s; it’s pretty cool.
It really is sad that it’s over it’s one of those movies that are just so well done 🐉 it’s the only movie that actually made me cry
I just binge watched the series again but this time with u and absolutely loved it man keep up the good work
Plot and for kids and family. And adults. A fine line.
Chris Sander's style can see carried forward from his work from "Lilo and Stitch" to the "Train Your Dragon" movies.
Some movies to watch if you haven’t already seen them: spaceballs, the princess bride, the croods 1 & 2
The babies are called nightlights and they have names which are Dart rough Runner and Pouncer
If you haven't done it yet you should react to Avatar The Last Airbender. Hands down the best animated show ever.
