- We are installing Z1 Motorsports hood struts/dampers on the Nissan 350Z. Little details like this make any car stand out. I always hated the look of hood props so this was the last car in my collection needing this mod done. Highly recommend this mod for any car!

Thanks for the video - I found it quite funny that the idea of installing gas hood struts was to show off the engine bay, but we just butchered the installation with scissors and a stanley.. haha... anyway - its a cool idea. thanks

Will be installing some of these soon but for the non high lift ones that you got is the hood lower then with the prop rod? Didn't want to get the high lift ones and it be stupid high or look funny. Thanks
@08HR350z thanks for checking out the video! With these the hood sits about 2 inches less than it does with the prop rod. So you lose a little bit of height but I agree it looks better than the really high lift ones that raise the hood nearly vertical.
Can’t find this set on the Z1 website. Is there a magical link you could send or add to description?
I think that is why I was able to get a set so cheap as it looks like Z1Motorsports is all sold out. Here is another set that looks pretty similar from the Z store....

What front bumper cover do you have?
It is the VIS Racing AMS-GT front bumper. Got it from Andys Auto Sport. Here is the link...

This is just what I need on my 2004 Drop top 350z, Dav--will they fit my z-& you say its a universal fit for the Z- All I see is this set that's for rthe rear is it the same as the one in the video, & will it work on the front ??? you got a no. or E-mail address--?
Checking on Z1Motorsports it looks like they have sold out at this point. I guess that is why I was able to get them so cheap as they were getting rid of old stock. Here is another set that looks identical from the Z store...

Looks like a good price too. It definitely makes the car look a lot better. My 1st Z was a 2004 and I loved it. Do you have any mods done to your car?

They are 12” long with the hood open. Honestly if I were to do it all over again I would get a set of the high lift struts from Z1. Would like for the hood to go up a little higher than the ones I got. Here is a link to the taller ones…

How long do hood struts last??
Of course it depends on usage. If you lift the hood often they will wear out quicker but with “normal” use (routine maintenance) they should last close to 10 years. Thanks for checking out the video!
