I'll post the write up starting from the big scene
spoilers
Well, it’s not jus an x-wing. It’s Luke skywalker. This meant the world to me. Over 35 thousand of you attended the watch party last night and we all shared a moment together as Star Wars fans that I’ll never forget. Luke Skywalker arrives and makes the dark troopers look like absolutely nothing. He wasn’t even moving fast, it was easy work for a jedi knight like him. Or at this point, a Jedi Master ready to build his roster of students.
We see a cloaked figure walk through the halls, his movements and lightsaber form very much like Luke Skywalker. Luke used a variation of different lightsaber forms. Mainly form iv Ataru which he learned from master Yoda. However when he used his emotions to fight his father on the second Death Star in return of the jedi, he was using more form v, which was Anakin’s lightsaber form. He also learned a bit of form 3, soresu from obi-wan in episode 4. This helps with blocking blaster bolts. There’s a scene here where Luke uses the same move as Anakin against the b-1 battle droid on Mustafar, with the blaster bolt behind the back. Luke comes to the hallway which was a lot like his father against the rebels in rogue one. Grogu just watches the screen amused. Luke dances with his blade, blocking bolts and slicing through the troopers. He uses force pull, force push, and force freeze topped off with force crush. Now this is huge, because force crush was a force power that was a big no no for jedi, however, there was a grey area when using it on droids, or any non living being. Windu and Anakin both used this in the original 2D clone wars back in 2003. Mace uses it on Grievous, which is why he always coughs. And Anakin uses it on Nelvaan against the scientist techno union guy.
The droids and danger has been eliminated by Luke Skywalker. I can’t believe I’m saying that. I won’t get tired of it. Din opens the door and Luke Skywalker steps through the green lit fog by his lightsaber.
Are you a Jedi.
Yes, he says.
As a de aged mark Hamill, just like I wished would happen, stands there, removing his hood.
He reaches out to grogu, and summons the child. Grogu asks permission from Din, and we get a beautiful poetic scene of Din holding the kid and removing his helmet. This echoes Vader removing his helmet to see his son, Luke. As Din stares at the closest thing to a son he has, and tells Grogu to go, and not be afraid.
Grogu is placed on the floor as he finally waddles over to R2-D2, who shakes with excitement, recognizing Grogu from Yoda’s species, but also, a theory that he knows Grogu from the Jedi Temple during the prequels, as we know Grogu was trained as a Jedi at the temple for many years by many masters. He must have known Anakin, or of him at least, as they are the same age.
Luke Grabs Grogu, takes a good look at him, and bids his farewell to everyone. May the force be with you, as Din cries watching them leave. The doors close from afar as R2 stands next to Luke Skywalker holding Grogu. End of season
Until, the end credits scene!
Tatooine. Jabba’s palace. Fennec shand kills gammorean guards as she comes down the steps with Boba to follow a few steps behind. Bib Fortuna sits atop Jabba’s throne. Telling Boba how he had heard rumours of his return. Boba kills him. Big Fortuna was Jabba’s top secretary and right hand man. We see him in return of the Jedi, and I thought he died, but I guess Boba isn’t the only one to return from the dead.
He’s played here by Matthew Wood, who voices General Grievous in the clone wars. Boba walks up, throws his dead corpse off, and takes his rightful place on the throne of the underworld king. Jabba was the law of the underworld. If scum and villainy. Boba now takes that mantle. He and Fennec will now control the galaxy’s underworld at their fingertips. The Book of boba, coming December 2021. This is the big question. Will this be a new show all on it’s own. Having chapters for episodes like the mandalorian. Or will this be what the new mandalorian will be about. Now it’s about the book of Boba. The first two seasons were about Din and the child, and now it’s about Boba for a season or two. I’m inclined to believe it’s two separate shows that we’ll get at the same time. As the mandalorian season 3 comes end of December 2021 as well.
Well, and with that. Star Wars has never been more alive. This episode meant so much to me, seeing Luke return the way he did. I can only imagine where it’ll lead us. I think we’ll see Grogu train with Luke, and become a powerful Jedi, and he’ll eventually reunite Grogu with his species, well before Kylo destroys Luke’s temple. I know a lot of people were asking if Kylo kills Grogu, and I Just can’t see that happening.

Same fighting style. Absolutely brutal
That scene reminded me of anakin killing everyone in sight at the Jedi temple when he turned to the dark side
It's the utterly _dismissive_ way he fights them. There's a moment early in the fight where he's crossing a bridge guarded by three DTs. First one is cut in half, second is disarmed, third is Force pushed off the side. Luke is about to keep on going when the second tries to grab his shoulder, and gets trisected. It's like "Oh, yeah...sorry, forgot you were there". It's brutal. It's beautiful.
I love how they orchestrated Luke's arrival.
1. An X-Wing - Red 5? - No, maybe Wedge and his squadron
2. Just one X-Wing - Luke??? - Nah, X-Wings are not that rare.
3. A Jedi - Luke?? - Maybe Ahsoka. After all, we saw her in the recap.
4. One lightsaber - Luke? - Ok, not Ahsoka but still could be any other Jedi.
5. A green lightsaber - Luke!? - This is teasing but still, could be any other Jedi. (I guess at this point everybody knew who it was but was not able to believe it.)
6. Right hand in a black glove, left hand uncovered. - Luke!?! - Well... anybody can wear a black glove (bullshit, who else would it be)
7. Hallway scene - ... - No time to think here
8. Putting away his lightsaber - Luke! - This is Luke's lightsaber but maybe someone stole or found it (stupid excuse of an argument)
9. Face reveal - LUKE!!!
When I saw the lone X-wing I thought...nah, DID they!? Then the green saber and I thought, oh shit! Probably...and then the gloved hand and I knew. I was looking for that gloved hand. The moment I saw it I knew, and I cried like a little girl.

This episode relit my passion for Star Wars. Not going to lie, the sequel trilogy killed it and I'm not trying to comment on that (your fun isn't wrong, if you liked them its cool with me) but this was the Luke I waited my life to see. This was the Luke that tossed down his lightsaber, believed in his father when all others had forsaken him and said in the face of death, "No, I am a Jedi like my father before me." Imagine if in the Mandalorian - where Grogu was rescued from the Imperial remnants - is where the timeline diverts from the sequel trilogy. Maybe a living little Grogu would have an impact on the new Jedi Order, the New Republic and the universe, just nudging it in a slightly different direction.
Imagine Favreau and Filoni being given creative freedom to shape this post-OT timeline and a new sequel trilogy without the story restrictions that the current sequel trilogy has set.
Even if you like the Sequels, they were objectively not well planned with big decisions being made lkast minute etc, and this Favreau/Filoni universe deserves the freedom to grow beyond them.
It didn't help that they randomly changed directors for The Last Jedi, which was soooo not just Out of Character but Out of Universe, it left Rise of Skywalker scrambling to try to fix all the holes AND wrap up the story.
They lost me with "The Rise of Skywalker". Last year i told my wife: "I think it is time to grow up, leave Star Wars behind and move on with my life." The last episode of the second season of The Mandalorian won me back.

There's been a lot of leaks that they're not only basically retconning them into the ground with Lucas' guidance, but that with Favreau as the new President they'll be basically redoing them. Just from the way that he treats fans, he doesn’t deserve to watch something like this. It’s obvious that some people don’t understand emotions or emotional attachment to characters. Which means, those particular people should find new jobs.
And then gutted like a fish!
i was yelling the entire time watching this, made me feel like a kid watching star wars for the first time with my dad
"He is strong with the force, but talent without training is nothing." - Luke Skywalker.
911 I'd like to confirm a murder on everyone who worked on the Sequels.
Oof Rey be crying somewhere in Jakku🤣
Lowkey petty for that line lmao
@Private Account no but yes
Yeah, but they made their money. Funny how a crappy CGI Luke will pacify most fans, meanwhile Kathleen Kennedy is still producer...
@@PeterSTIHL are you telling me you didn't like the episode?!?!?
Moff Gideon when Luke shows up:
This is nothing like the simulations
He’s probably one of the most wanted Imperial war criminals being hunted by the New Republic. The second he saw Luke he knew he was fucked with a capital F.
@@codyerickson3550 He also knew that Luke can make him talk very easily with The Force thats why he look so terrified
@@codyerickson3550 Yeah, but actually he doesn't give a shit about Moff, that makes much sense. I would like to see Luke as someone away from Politics.
@@rjofusetsudzin8011 Not really, Moff doesn't look like a weak minded goon like any Stormtrooper. That would make it harder to get information from him, just using the force
He wasn't happy.
This Luke is both the hero we deserve, and the one we need right now.
Honestly it was crucial that it was Mark Hamill the one who played Luke in here. If this is Marks last time playing him I must say he deserved the most epic goodbye to the character that he could possibly get. There were a few movies recently that pretended to try to give that kind of stuff to his character but those are honestly so forgettable... they just didn’t really do a great job at it (unlike Mandalorian, seriously the people who worked at this show are such freaking champions).
When real men cried.... Luke Skywalker's return!
Well, maybe at mando's goodbye too.
Yeah and it’s the real Luke not the luke that calls a lightsaber a lazar sword and throws it
Din and grogu splitting was the most emotional ngl
How many times he will have to return ?
@@Jedimaster-Macewindu This was emotionally devastating, so powerful that i forgot luke for a bit.
“Great, one x wing, we’re saved” man cara had no idea 😂😂😂😂
Worse scouting report turned greatest ever!!!
That one X wing started it all!!! The only X Wing everyone wanted to see!!!!
When he didn't answer i knew
When Cara said that, I channeled my inner Bert Kreischer and said...Okay, okay, I yelled at the TV; "AWWWW SHIT SON! THAT'S LUKE MOTHERFUCKIN' SKYWALKER."
What struck me is that she never heard of the legendary luke considering moth gidion did.
They need to write off the sequels as a mixed up vision of the future. They have done Luke justice now. For him to become what he was in TLJ now would be sinful. I applaud this episode. Don't be foolish and try and link them together. You're on the write track now Jon. I'll support whatever destruction of the sequels needs to happen now. We're back on board. Thank you!
Yeah, just have old Luke having a force vision about the whole thing and he snaps out of it and actually exclaims, "oh what could have been, good thing that's not how it IS." If there's justice in the universe, Mark Hamill will get the send off he so richly deserves with his character, the hero of heroes.
Luke wasn't in those movies that was Jake Skywalker
Disney has a trashcan they call "Legends". A lot of good material was dumped into it. Time to put the real trash there, and start afresh. We may never be able to get the original actors back, but I'll settle for strong writing. I'll even accept a replacement trilogy via quality animation at this point.
bruh theyre not gonna waste billions of dollars.
also, THE MANDALORIAN LITERALLY PLAYS INTO THE SEQUELS
Did you not see the clear origins of the first order, with the remnants of the empire using grogu for experiments
AND A SNOKE CLONE?
the sequels arent getting retconned, and im glad. rather, they'll have extra material to make it better just like the prequels had clone wars
my dad and I cried watching the season finale. he was the one who introduced me to star wars
Imagine how awkward it would be if boba was there when Luke showed up

Boba: Skywalker.
I think thats why they made him dip
They’d probably just barely acknowledge each other tbh

Luke has his own hallway scene
Anakin: Son, I am proud
When Luke picked up the one trooper and crushes it, it reminded me of the scene with Vader trying to get the Death Star plans.
Whem Mando asked Luke if he is Jedi, when he said “i am” i thought he was gon say “i am, like my father before me😭😭”
same here
OMG me too!! I was just waiting for that to come out but it didnt
Nice lmao

It’s as if a million voices all cried out in happiness
Have you felt it? There's been an awakening...
This episode, for me, was absolutely breathtaking and left me bawling my eyes out. Thank you to everyone who worked on the Mandalorian, it is a piece of art and shall be remembered by me for the rest of my life. May the force be with you.
I need more Groku I need to watch his whole life story I love that little fella
I loved how the “girls get it done” scene didn’t feel forced like marvel has done. I didn’t even notice until most of the way through! It was an epic scene!
It didn’t feel forced other than the mando guy from earlier in the season is just nowhere to be found
Yep, diversity is great in movies/TV but doesn't have to be forced down our throats in a way that feels self-congratulating and if anything patronising. The Mando did this perfectly!!
That was my exact thoughts. I thought that it was a great scene and didn’t feel forced like endgame did.
Thought the exact same thing
I'm a guy and I loved that scene
This episode has done better about "Girl power" than the whole sequel trilogy with Rey
Because it wasn't forced and the characters are all well written.
The sequel trilogy didn't actually do any of that.
@@Dimetropteryx it didn’t do anything... appart from tearing the Star Wars community... until The Mandalorian came to unite it back

I went through every emotion imaginable watching this and hearing your recap makes me tear up all over again. This was just a perfect culmination of a lore I've come to love, and EVERYTHING i wanted from the new films. Truly beautiful and sharing it with others who love it makes it so much more special.
I'm very glad they made the "girls get it done" scene in this episode not obvious. I didn't realize it was happening until halfway in. It was leagues better than the stupid pandering scene in endgame where they all line up.
When Mando took off his helmet for Grogu without hesitation so he could touch his face, I lost it
One of the best moments of the show
I didn’t cry... dumb allergies
I don't understand losing it, but literally at the same instant he took off his helmet something stuck in my eye and they watered up... . Just to clarify....something was definitely in my eyes.... definitely. ;-)

That's all we ever wanted
Just needed the right team, script and execution. And most importantly people that truly appreciate the art of story telling and Star Wars.

I’m still crying. Watched this episode 3 times already, get goosebumps every time Luke’s x-wing flies in. Thank you Dave and Jon for giving us the Star Wars we so desperately wanted. I’m so happy.
What an episode. My boyhood hero, Luke finally got the screentime he deserved.
Dude Luke throwing down on the dark troopers was such a perfect mirror to his father's massacre at the end of Rogue One. Vader went in and slaughtered all those resistance troops as a means to pursue truly evil ends (upsetting the Force by attempting to eradicate any deficiency in the Empire's genocidal superweapon), but ultimately failed his mission, whereas his son came in and cut down the enemy in pursuit of defending the Jedi Order and maintaining balance in the Force, achieving his endeavor of securing one of very few remaining Jedi. It was visual, poetic reflection of the duality of father and son, of light and dark, of triumph and defeat.
I could not have said it better myself.
That’s very impressive insight
And also this time he was rescuing a Padawan if you know what I mean.
I have a 14 year old daughter who knows of Star Wars but never sat down and watched any of them. She came to me and said I'd like to watch the Star Wars movies. So we spent 2 days and watched 1 - 6. Leaving out 7 8 and 9 and I went into detail with her why we are not watching 7 8 and 9. So next we watched the two seasons of the Mandalorian. Keep in mind she's just getting educated on Star Wars. When she saw it was Luke she damn near cried. She was so excited it was him. The force is strong with her knowledge lol. The fact she did this surprised the crap out of me but also ecstatic at the same time.
There's hope in luke appearance. This moment made me cry. I feel like a little child again!
Grogu's mind while saying goodbye to Mando: "So long, partner"
It was probably more like: “partner, so long”

I said "It's goddamn Luke Skywalker!!!!! Hahaha!
The fact we all had the chance to share it together makes me so honored to be a Star Wars fan. Luke is back baby! And he was the sickest part of both seasons. This, Revenge of the Sith, and end of Clone Wars was combined the best Star Wars ever.
Right there with you the first and each time re-watched this episode... Chills, excitement and thrill to see Luke back!! The feels of this episode were all over the place. Loved it and excited for more!!

I’m 50 yrs old this year. Thought I was done with Star Wars over a decade ago. And then I stumbled upon the news today. And I cried. I didn’t even realize I could still care about a franchise I grew up with and was fascinated by for almost 40 years until I watched the last 10 minutes of the Mandalorian Season (something I had no interest in and refused to watch until today) here on YT. God bless Jon Favreau. I love that man. Thank you for caring enough to give OT fans and Mark Hamill the Luke Skywalker we all waited for and deserved to see. It matters and it was a long time coming. Just my 2 cents ❤️

@Trashthlete "We'll pay you 1000 credits for a blood sample every month"
@Trashthlete he also probably wanted to kill Grogu once the experiment was done so there was no risk he’d become a Jedi threat
I loved how u can see the fear and terror on Moff Gideons face when he realizes who the Jedi was, amazing attention to detail
yee when he saw his idol's son
Imperial before: who’s Luke Skywalker
Imperials now: oh damn, suicide time
I noticed that too haha. "A JEDI!?!?" 😨😱
I couldn't help but cry of pure sadness and joy at this episode.
Sadness because of Din watching his son go away and crying as he watched him leave but also joy because of Luke's appearance in the show and Grogu going to be trained as a jedi and this season being absolutely phenomenal. Ashoka and Bo-Katan's live performance in this show brought such joy to me as a Clone Wars, and Star Wars in general, fan overcome with such joy. This was by far one of the best and most emotional episodes of The Mandalorian.
This was the Skywalker everyone expected in episode 7
This episode was better than the last 3 movies.
