Exactly my reaction.

Right. Fuck the new star wars trilogy did not do that to me. I was mad that they made Luke look like a bitch. Then bam child hood feelings watching this.
More like little girls.
They all over-react though for views, I literally just thought ''cool'' and that was it lol.
And for the last time ever because Disney is going to cancel Luke and Grogu’s tv show
For sure lol
The best part was how terrified Gideon looked. To him, Luke must be some terrifying legend.
True. Luke walked into a room to meet the Emperor. He walked out again dragging the dying Darth Vader and the Emperor was dead af.
Loyal Imperials had to have nightmares about that.

The most disappointing thing about the last episode is that I’ll never be able to watch it for the first time again.

I literally just told my friends this! I was a kid again.
You hit me in the feels, bruh. 😢
Unfortunately for me, it was spoiled. I've seen some people talk about how it was a well kept secret, but I did see a headline that implied this result on the day of the episode, but before I had seen it. I watched the episode with my mother, and she was surprised, but the impact of the reveal was much less for me. Once I saw that it was a SINGLE x-wing, that confirmed what had been implied for me, rather than being allowed to be truly surprised. Fuck people that can't resist the urge to get a few more clicks by writing headlines for their articles that aren't completely spoiler free. To be honest, even this video fucks up in that respect. Can we get at least a WEEK before people put the full spoiler in their headlines, please?

Fake fans: But he was in the sequels...
Mark Hamill: No he wasn't
@@jacknapier8201 he was in revenge of the sith as a baby tho😂
BWAHAHAHAHAHA
During this time, Luke was an urban legend to the empire. Remember, by the end of return of the Jedi, he was responsible for the destruction of one Death Star. He was in a room with Darth Vader and the Emperor. From the perspective of any witnesses, the emperor never made it out, and he walked out with Darth Vaders dying defeated body. He‘s the only known living Jedi left. This is what is going Güterzugs Moff Gideons head as he watches in terror as a cloaked force wielding figure with a lightsaber easily dismantles his army of dark troopers because he knows it could be him.
I can only imagine what the officer who led Luke to Vader must have thought. Like "he gave up, let me take his saber-thing and present him to Vader like some strange peace offering, what an idiot."
And then he's the only idiot that walked out of that situation alive.
The emperor not only never made it out..he was literally never seen or heard from again

I’m crying so hard. Luke is my hero. I didn’t grow up with him but watching Star Wars for the first time six years ago, I fell in love by Return of the Jedi; the only one who had the heart to save Anakin, and in turn help save the entire Galaxy. I fully expected Luke to kill Vader but instead got a beautiful, powerful message of forgiveness, empathy, and HOPE.

The way they set it up too was masterful. I knew at once from the X-wing, but then we slowly reveal the hood, the green saber, the hand, and then by the actual reveal- we know who it is! SO GOOD 😭
To paraphrase Obi Wan Kenobi:

Yes, it was great to see kick ass young Luke again, as until this, never thought how little of "kick ass" Luke we saw in RotJ. But, while TFA & TLJ Luke wasn't what I expected (not sure what I expected) I did get on board and loved it (while despising TRoS, I pretend it doesn't exist).
I loved grumpy old Luke, as since 1977, I too have changed from being an idealistic youth to disillusioned 54 year old.
But this was awesome too. Too bad there wasn't a pre-isolation Luke movie to bridge the gap, although guess we're kinda getting that now. They really are making all SW fans happy. Lol.

And Luke eventually DID kick ass & save everyone in TLJ, in an awesome, heroic way!
And Luke was ALWAYS whiney! Watch ANH & most of TESB again oh and the cut scenes in ANH. LOTS of whining from Luke! This was NOT out of character to revert to that. My dad passed away unexpec tedly in July of 2020. He would tell me about how he drove an hour from the farm he grew up on to the nearest movie theater in 1977 to see the original Star Wars. We used to watch the original trilogy so much it drove the rest of my family a little insane. He even upgraded our home sound system with the excuse that "it can't be too loud if we're watching Star Wars". He took me to the midnight showing premiers of all the prequels and we also saw all of the sequels in the theater together. As soon as Luke's X-wing showed up in this episode, I was overwhelmed with emotion, nostalgia, and so many memories of enjoying our favorite nerdy escape. I could just see the smile on his face as this scene played out and Luke removed his hood to reveal the character he watched on the screen as a teenager and we watched together time after time. The tears I shed that night were for the joy of seeing Luke finally done right after nearly 40 years, but more than that, they were in his memory.

We have waited 37 years for this, count them 37 F**** years, for Luke to be a bad ass again......... 37 F******** years, thank you Jon Favreau, thank you from the bottom of my heart
Yes. This is exactly what was promised by Return of the Jedi. Even during that movie, he was clearly not the absolute bad ass that we just saw, but at the beginning of his path to being bad ass. In Star Wars (I'm always going to use the title of the movie as when I saw it in the theater. "Star Wars: A New Hope" is fine for those saw that movie years later.), Luke was clearly on the hero's journey, but still had more than a bit of the whiny kid in him. In Empire, he had become a leader, but still was impatient and "reckless" just as Yoda said. In Return of the Jedi, his powers had grown, but it wasn't until he tossed his lightsaber aside and refused to kill Darth Vader that he truly became a Jedi. That serenity of purpose is what allowed him to reach the level of mastery of the Force that we saw here. He had all of the power of Darth Vader without any of the anger and hatred. Finally, there is balance in the Force.
*I enjoyed the sequel trilogy as entertainment, but I am with most fans that grew up with the original trilogy that don't like the direction that the Disney era movies took the post-Return of the Jedi galaxy. They did totally mess up everything, to be honest. I've seen some decent commentary on tweaks to the storyline that may have helped, but the problems are not fixable. I am fully supportive of one theory reaction to recent Star Wars that suggests that they could (and should) find a way to make the whole sequel trilogy become a "this is what might have been" thing, rather than canon that all movies and TV set in the post-RotJ era have to build toward. That video referred to things in the Clone Wars and Rebels series that could be used to make that happen in a way that isn't "Dallas"- level, "The whole season was a dream", nonsense, but I still haven't gotten around to watching those.
I’m Luke Skywalker, I’m here to rescue you.

I love the stages of the reveal: x-wing, green light saber, his artificial hand, the force choke, and finally the unveiling.
And none of the extra flashy moves from the prequels, but a methodical, defensive, slow style taught by him by an old Kenobi, adding the Skywalker flair of course.

The Disney "trilogy" are not canon . I have spoken
It was so much better than those abominable prequels.
This scene is pretty much the only way to make a 50-year-old grown man cry out of happiness.
This scene turned every person watching it into their 9 year old self seeing Luke be the hero again.
I've waited 40+years to see Jedi Master Luke.
Hear! Hear!
No kidding. The last time I saw that green lightsaber in action was in Return of the Jedi and I was 9 years old. I am 46 now and this brought back a lot of childhood memories.
Grand master Luke.
We've been treated to other Master Jedis but never Grand Master Jedi Luke Skywalker. It's a long time coming.

I haven't seen any Star Wars movie since "Return of the Jedi" when I was 7 months pregnant in 1983. But to see all these people so excited to see Luke Skywalker made me cry, just to think that people would still get as excited as we all did when the first trilogy came out all those years ago
THIS was the Luke we wanted for the sequels.
Luke to Disney: You couldn't live with your failure. Where did that bring you? Back to me.
Your own failure sorry just gotta fix it
Sublime!!!
This is perfect. Put it on a luke skywalker poster.
HAHAHA FCUKY EAH!!!!!!

It just shows how much damage the last trilogy has caused for this scene to hit so hard.
Well. I think that making fans wait like 35+ years to see certain things, they were waiting for, happen since Episode 6 also helps.
@Mike Li honestly I'd rather the last Jedi not exist at all at the expense of this scene not being as great.
@Mike Li it would still be regardless
Yeah, it sucks this moment had to be about redeeming the character instead of just being triumphant.
@Mike Li I don't think that's true at all. If anything, I think people would be even more excited for this scene if they didn't have the fear in the back of their head that Disney is gonna fuck it all up again somehow.
The dude's reaction at 2:58 is priceless and the two dudes at 22:53. It was my reaction too. Something in me awoke when I seen this scene. It's like the kid in me who's been asleep for decades just came out and I ugly cried because it was one of the most beautiful scenes ever.
We all miss the old Luke and life can be hard but this scene makes up for it all.
I never get tired of watching people losing their shit over this
Me too bub
Me too.. i got really shocked for such great 2 seasons they did. Hope we can stay climbing.
same hahah i’ve been watching everyone’s reactions to it
does he get permission from all these people to use their vids or just makes these compilations?
There’s a reason why people were so emotional. This is the first time we saw the true luke skywalker. This is the first time we got to see him since 1983. That bastardization in TLJ was not my Luke skywalker
There's also the portrayal of him in Star Wars: Battlefront II that was actually pretty good. This is still incredible though.
The only guy that i saw who i judge as genuine in his reaction is the Star Wars Theory Guy. Because he's quite and focussed on what he sees which is a sign for being captivated by what you are doing and you can clearly see all the emotions from surprise to tension to anticipation, hope, joy and sadness hes going trough. 90% of the other guys do the huge O-Mouth face and scream "oh my gawd" because someone fills laundry in a washing maschine. The same guys made the exact same faces when they watched last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker Trailers who were both underwhelming to say it mildly. I agree nontheless with what you are saying.
@@stephanclemens2348 Lol u cant say someones reaction is fake just because Star Wars Theory Guy deemed worthy to you. Not everyone has to go through a severe illness to appreciate a franchise and everyone has the right to react however they want, even if it is the same as others. Majority of people would be surprised and make O-mouth faces lol this is Luke Skywalker we are talking about. Star Wars Theory Guy reacted the way he did because it had special value in his heart from the time he struggled with illness, he was speechless.
YES EXACTLY THIS IS THE FIRST MODERN RENDITION OF SKYWALKER. IT IS ABSOLUTELY EPIC

The best scene is Star Wars history. We will probably never get another moment like this

@@rafaelo.2861 Well said. We've needed this for decades. A real Star Wars that gets it. That takes it further and takes in the world that we love. Gives us the perspective of the people living in that world. Not just glazing over them. Seeing the turmoil of people who worked for the Empire and how they come to grips with that. Luke is a special kind of iconic character. He represents the best in all of us. One who aspires to be the greatest he can. A boy of humble beginings on a backlot planet that no one really visits. To grow up into a man and accept responsiblity in all that it requires of him. A hope for all us that we too can be great if we try. For new generations ahead to live by example.
I love how they executed this scene. This is fan service done right. The build up is just awesome. First the X-Wing, then the cloaked figure, then the green lightsaber, the force theme, the black glove, the fighting style until finally the hood comes off. The makers knew the fans would go bonkers with every little reveal.

I do love the idea of the Empire being kind of terrified of Luke. He hit a one in a million shot on the DS1, was important enough to have Vader obsessed with finding him and then repeatedly escaping from him, and being the only person left alive after being in a room with Vader AND Palpatine. Add the mystical powers and laser sword and it's no wonder they're freaked out.
Add onto the add on, the fact that Luke only got stronger from there. Absolute beasr

Okay what excuse would YOU have given for Luke ISOLATING HIMSELF FROM EVERYONE HE LOVED FOR 15 YEARS? I really want to know. You expect someone who does that to be exactly the same? No one does that who hasn't had something horrible happen or given up on the world. He wasn't at a spa or a Jedi training camp. Again, Johnson DID NOT PUT LUKE ON THAT ISLAND FOR 15 YEARS! JJ DID THAT! What pisses me off most is people blaming JOHNSON for Luke being a hermit, like they never saw TFA! We have NO IDEA what Johnson would've done with Luke if he'd started from scratch & written The Force Awakens. Maybe he WOULD'VE had a kick ass Luke. That IS more the style of his other movies. We'll never know. He was MERELY TRYING TO MAKE SENSE of the cards he was given by JJ.
Personally, I think it was a dumb decision of JJ's to have no Luke at all in TFA & one of the things I liked about TLJ was it at least gave a payoff in that storyline. Johnson pulled off making sense of the mistake of isolating Luke. If you don't like that storyline, blame the right person, JJ.
