Today we finish our new vanilla city play through in Cities: Skylines 2! Thank you Colossal Order and Paradox Interactive for the early access to the game to show you early footage of Cities: Skylines 2 city building.
In this video we follow my story through past where we left off last time as we unlock milestones and fight high rent problems in our city. I show thirty minutes of unedited game play with the lowest graphics settings possible. I do show a lot of cinematic footage in Cities: Skylines 2 because I enjoy the camera uses and beauty in our favourite city builder game!

In answer to your question, you were quoting the song “What’s going on” by 4 non blondes.
I love how the devs keep and keep working; adding, changing, improving the game every day. 👏
Apart from those green arrows!!! 👺👺👺
M
And the super cartoony ass roads with the weird paths over the top of them@@1DontNoclip
I loved the 30min let's play style. It was great to see how you build and what the game offers to overcome the challenges the city presents.
Hands down my favourite asset is that circular plaza. And having the road with the quays going behind that was a great move :)
Can't wait to see what you come up with now that the 3 episode series is finished.
I think something this game really needs is more UI transparency about how the simulation works. Especially why there is only demand for a certain type of residential but not others, how rent is determined, and the factors people are using to pick transportation modes. Having more information would allow players to make better decisions and give better feedback about how well those systems are working.
when you open the demand meter full menu it lists reasons for each type's current demand level
I kinda find that tiny round about at the lakefront absolutely adorable. I can see sweet old people taking Sunday drives to the round about to look at the water.
Reducing lot sizes without increasing the number of lots to try lower rents is probably the worst possible approach to housing affordability
Man I'm so excited to see the CN tower, Vanilla Toronto builds finally possible
It is pretty nifty, eh!?
Used to have fun in college (70s) discussing regional US dialects. Now, I think they have mostly disappeared. So it's interesting watching these CS2 videos from all over the world to hear words and phrases that I would not normally hear.
If possible, I turn off winter on all building games because I can't stand the blanketing ultra white snow. Seasons and weather are great for enjoying a city, but not for building one.
I appreciate seeing all the improvements the devs are making in the runup to the release. Hope they get some good rest afterwards. I'm still somewhat worried about performance tho.
Very valuable that you showed the lowest graphics settings
Does the single family residential zoned homes ever upgrade over time to nicer homes? They all look exactly the same. I would really love to create luxury neighborhoods where mansions exist.
They do and they look great. Infrastructurist shows of a couple in his video.
I've heard other youtubers talk about this high rent bug as well, hopefully it'll get fixed
I question how much of it is a high rent bug? and how much of it is people just not understanding the economy simulation? For instance, I saw high rent on Biffa's video and when he clicked on the house it was a low income family. Biffa only has education up to high school in his city and primarily industrial jobs, People simply can't afford large single-family lots while working lower end education and jobs. Also much like most youtubers he had his taxes cranked to like 16% - 17% across the board not expecting much of an effect. Also In CS1, most issues were solved by providing as many services to as many people as possible to up land value. How much a Cim made wasn't part of the equation so the best practice was to provide everything, but now providing everything without the education and high wage jobs is a good way to get high rent complaints and homelessness. It's like how even renting an apartment in some real world major cities will cost you thousands of dollars a month.
From the start, one of my biggest complaints about the majority of the playthroughs is that they approached the game like it was CS1 and not CS2, and it shows. Old habits die hard but damn.
I'm also pretty sure this is why a number of playthroughs I saw had the whole not enough customers problem in tandem with high residential demand and high residential rent complaints..
Can't have customers if the prospective customers don't have money to spend.
Hi from Vancouver!
👋 from Southern Ontario!
Well said. Here's to waiting impatiently for the next version of CS. =)
Live toadie 🥳🥳 was a very fun video, love to see u build from your life such a fun idea.
Appreaciate you trying to fix high rent housing issues. Its present on all cities ive seen so far.
Out of all 3 you did, was at least one without this issue in the end?
The only problem with the highway connections in cs1 is thé traffic IA.
In CS1, when selecting a car, its travel route was marked (style GPS). In CS2, does it no longer have that feature built-in? Because I haven't seen it
Cities: Skylines 2 has made modifications to the artificial intelligence of vehicles to make it more diverse and realistic. This could explain why a predefined route is no longer marked when selecting a car. It will be exciting to discover all the innovations that the sequel will bring.
Right now that feature isn't in C:S 2 as you described, no! You can see the place where they're headed, just not a line along the route they're intending to take to it. The reason you mentioned with the AI being more free-flowing makes sense as an explanation to me. : )
Possible the route
Toadie
Pls
4:43 aboot?
You can just delete all the garbage along with the landfill 😮
I wouldn't be surprised if this gets patched out. ; )
The rent theory is really dumb
Not enough this not enough that without proper statistics to look for. Classic Cities Skylines I'm glad I didnt pre-order. Its very annoying.
Any1 else feel like shes a fake canadian? The way she first pronounced "aboot" made it believable... then she pronounced it "about" with no accent, a ahort while later... hmmmm
11:10 thas a bug, well known, well reported bug 13:32 aboot????? Oh sry, CAN, i forgot 😅 🇨🇦 15:18 are a virgo (zodiac)????
Such a down-to-earth look at what gameplay is like. I've been invested in this series, and the culmination was fantastic.
💙💙💙
I cant wait for it to start!!!!!
Your the best city skylines maker I know!
💙💙💙
YOU REPLIED?! : D !!!!@@ToadieZzz
One thing that needs to be added, is a dark mode! Specifically, for that fate's awful information tab.
Thanks for the edit there Toadie!
They added the CN Tower huh? 😅
1st time on your channel. Love “aboot” making fun of us Canadians eh!
Don'tcha know, bud! ❤️🤍❤️
3 across by 4 at the full level up are some nice-looking houses.
Can we take off from an airport and land at another airport on the map?
❤❤❤
💙💙💙
Hoot mean?🤦♂️
45:43 pff, I'm going to make the perfect city, first try, drop the mic, and peace out.
But, uh, maybe I wait for those tutorials first.
Nah you'll nail it.
This is the only video I’ve seen complaining about the info view being too bright.
Is it possible your monitor settings are a little off?
I've never actually heard someone say "aboot" before. I don't even think you're Canadian. 4:42
OMG you are Canadian. Why would you do us like that? Nobody says aboot...
