      I'm not so sure myself, I've spent a good amount of time designing myself and I in fact believe LEGO designers have taken a few of my and others designs and used them officially and really 8 wide only suits very few designs and the shapes of the bricks themselves. they would have been far better off designing rooves and cockpit canopies that suit more forward designed cabins like on mid engine cars instead of going wider, in fact if anything 7 wide is a better scale but that itself has design problems being uneven

    of course you can't print all, but Lego should at least print the headlights and car logos on the bonnet.
    The latest example is the Demon, the lights and grill on the 1x6 platte had to be a print, if that sticker is gone in year it looks just horrible.
    Same here with the headlights from the Ferrari, Lamborghini and Nissan.

      @sawyerhowd9797 5 лет назад +2

      Gtr is the worst/only offender in that regard. These wheels definitely call for 8 studs wide. I build models scaled around these wheels and they have all called for 8 studs wide.

  • @changingnames6978
    @changingnames6978 5 лет назад +5

    honestly I think the size-up of the cars is a good idea, It just makes them look better in every way. What I am a bit disappointed by is the fact that without the stands, wind tunnels... etc, we might not see a nice display build like with the mini rallye set.

    • @shredBucketheadshred
      @shredBucketheadshred 5 лет назад

      but it really doesn't, so far not one design is instantly identifiable in shape like many of the 6 wides have been

    • @changingnames6978
      @changingnames6978 5 лет назад

      @@shredBucketheadshred I'd say the Audi, the GTR, the Trofeo and the Formula-E car are pretty easy to recognize. The Ferrari probably as well. And regarding the SUVs, I'd say give the designers some time. They're probably not used to building sporty SUVs, especially not with them being 8 studs wide.

    • @shredBucketheadshred
      @shredBucketheadshred 5 лет назад

      @@changingnames6978 the Audi isn't bad tho nothing better than a 6 wide and the GTR would be just a brick without stickers and I myself have 6 wide designs that capture a GTR a lot better. I make the point that Lego bricks themselves just don't suit this scale, what worked as a headlight for example on a 6 wide would then look too small on an 8 wide yet too large if you were to use 2 bricks or tiles for the same job. this scale falls into a zone where brick building detail is difficult so they too heavily rely on stickers

    • @changingnames6978
      @changingnames6978 5 лет назад +1

      @@shredBucketheadshred Again I'd like to disagree on the GTR, especially if you look at the rear. Though overall this is just a taste difference really. I prefer the new look, you prefer the old. Also like you've mentioned, you build mocs on your own so if you really want a GTR, a Ferrari and so on as a 6 stud wide then just go ahead and build one, no ones stopping you. Though if you do then I'd like to ask if I could see the finished product.

    Yeaa Lego is so funky as far as size/scale
    Because the ultimate Batmobile as cool as it is (main car not all put together) was tooo big kinda felt action figure scale not minifig scale

    *Ah! Ah! Apparently, the driver of the Ferrari can’t fit in the car with the hairpiece YOU provided for him LEGO! What a failure! Design standards have really gone down the drain...!*

      @Real Aiglon Cock-up to say the least! And the steering wheel is not even centered on the driver! What car has got that design? Certainly not a Ferrari!

    I love the design I’m not gonna lie, but it’s just annoying that you guys keep coming out with NEW pieces Because now all the RUclips tutorials are going to start using the eight wide when I only have the six wide😢but anyways nice build I’ll definitely be looking for the r35 GTR 👏👏👏

    I'm not a fan, the larger scale doesn't suit what you can actually build in shape with lego bricks necessitating stickers for any subtle features, that R35 GTR is blocky and lacks detail and would be unrecognisable without stickers. Face it mini figure focused cars benefit from embracing the cartoon like look and incorporating that into the designs , I challenge ANY designer to create a Ferrari F40 , 69 Stingray or ANY vette or Porsche or ANYTHING else in 8 wide that looks better than what you can do in 6 wide .

    I think it’s a shame they’ve changed the width. I quite liked the more caricature look.
    And these wheels look far too small

      agree, 8 is to wide and doesn't even make good use of the subtle shapes lego has in slopes etc
