CUSTOMIZATION: I like that the resource person recommends that the CV content should be customized to reflect what is in the Job Description or advertisement. Unfortunately, too many applicants are just too lazy to do so, and rather attempt to use one and only one same CV for EVERY job, regardless of what the JD or advert says. The lazy shot-in-the-dark approach to CVs is often a waste of time and bullets.
NO PHOTOS, PLEASE!: Profile photos on CVs? In my opinion, photos are a No, No; unless you are applying for on-screen roles such as in TV, Acting, and similar. Photos are HUGE basis of bias, discrimination, and subjective decision-making NOT related to the job and the required skills for the same. The fact that certain forms of information, practices, and discrimination-inducing features are common in CVs and selection processes in Ghana does not make it right to promote their use. LinkedIn Profiles (with or without photos) are NOT CVs.
SKILLS SUMMARY: I personally prefer to see a summary of relevant SKILLS, very clearly and succinctly stated, close to the top of the CV or somewhere on the first page. Many employers hire for your skills. They want to know them upfront. Many C readers do not want to go searching the rest of the CV for the most important things.
ACHIEVEMENTS: The Work Experience section should, ideally, reflect bullets of your ACHIEVEMENTS (not just a boring list of Tasks, Duties, And/or Responsibilities from past/current job description).
NO ONE BEST WAY; CONTEXT IS KING: All said and done, there is no one way of skinning a cat (as the resource person pointed out). What one does in a CV depends on the context: country, employer requirements, occupational group, level of work, type of work, etc.

I agree with the photo part. It is best not to include it unless requested in the job description.

      I have some questions:
      1. I’ve been rejected from about 50 interviews. (In the last one they found the excuse that I could have given more examples. There must have been 20 to 30 perfectly given interviews with no feedback at all. The feedback I got from a lot of them is that they went for another candidate).
      2. Before the pandemic it only took around 4 interviews to secure a new role
      3. I went to a top business school and have half a decade of experience working for blue chip companies
      4. *I’ve been given the advice by some corporate operatives that I could still somehow secure a role at a top company even if I’ve been unemployed for half a dozen years*
*Is it discrimination? Is it bias because there is money involved? I would just like to know what is going on as I’m being forced to retire early abroad/take a career break in the summer*..

Pictures on a CV is a no no. Excellent presentation but a profile picture is unnecessary information and not a key component of a CV.

It usually depends on where you are. Most employers in Germany require you put it there whilst, in the UK and USA, one can do without it.
