Altec Speakers were a huge part of Randy’s signature sound.
Altec 417H
Altec sucks compared to celestion
@@ericandrews1661 Do you not like Randy's tone? Especially on Diary? What sucks about it... please enlighten us.
@@ericandrews1661 : First off you don’t know what you’re talking about! That’s an opinion not fact. That being said I will say that I hated Randy’s tone but till this day I’m blown away crazy about about his playing. On the other hand someone like Dicky Betts had an amazing tone with an old Marshall through Altec 417’s and his PAF pickups. I played through one of Duane’s original rigs and that had D120 JBL’s and that was great too. The reason most guys like Celestion’s mostly 25 watt Green Backs and Vintage 30’s is because those speakers color the sound and distort very easily as opposed to an Altec or JBL. When I worked at Kramer and BC Rich we’d have guys come in talking shit that shredded playing metal back in the day and I’d plug them into a JMP head and 4X12 loaded with EV’s and all that talking shit would cease because these guys couldn’t play a lick through that rig. They’d ask for a BOSS distortion pedal and want 8’s or 9’s on their guitars. Not the 10’s or 11’s on a Les Paul with PAF’s. So opinion is your’s but remember for all intensive purposes an old Celestion or Jensen is a shit speaker that us players like cause we can manipulate it with our pickups and amps. Back in the day an E120 JBL, a Guass or EVM was far more honest! D120’s being Alnico and less wattage or Altec’s being the same we’re still being manipulated but still more honest than the Celestion’s or Jensen’s.
@@theirritatedirishman5440 but your opinion is fact . Yeah okay.
MASTERFUL GUITAR PLAYING!!!!
Capturing The Spirit Of Randy Rhodes Style WITHOUT Infringing Any Copyrights. BRAVO!!! 🎸🎶🎶
👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋
Forget the amp, that was some badass playing!
Awesome amp!! Marshall was on fire with this amp, the Super 100JH, the AFD100, the Vintage Modern, the JMD:1, the Class 5, the 50th 1watters, and the pinnacle of Marshall designs… the YJM100!! RIP JM
AFD sucked as well as the vintage modern. The YJM incredible.
Love this Marshall channel.
Thanks! 🤘❤️
You need a MXR 10 band eq and a MXR Distortion pedal to get RR tone with this amp. RR sound had a lot of mids and was more overdriven.
Missing are still his Altec Speaker selection.
Need dual delays both split into A&B cabs while off settings a hair in milliseconds from each other. Use resonant comb filter settings in low milliseconds to truly capture his elusive tone. Max used AMS DMX delays in post but can use it just fine up front. Also can use Yamaha E1010 for resonant comb filter in low milliseconds and go into any lexicon dual prime time into separate cabs. MXR distortion set at 45% and level at 75% let those other delay racks thicken up and open up with huge randy tone.
he clearly said that the amp was modified on the preamp section, and he used that modified amp as a basis.
He never said he was trying to get his tone,it’s a amp demo not a tone demo
I actually like this tone much more then Randys. It’s more clean and you can hear every note ringing. I am still a big RR fan .
Man I hate copyrights so much... Guy can't even play RR on a RR signature amp
Yep. RUclips would shaft him.
The riffs were cool tho
On the OFFICIAL MASHALL RUclips CHANNEL nonetheless
@@michaelgarcia2050 Sharon would, if RUclips didn't.
It's a bit extreme when people can't play guitar rifs without getting demonized.
feel and speed, nice chops and playing dude
Please tell me he's not going to play tired old Blues riffs.
**Thank you! Finally somebody that shreds!
Marshall needs to release these amps to the public to buy
Great sounding amp. Weird that they got permission to use his name on the amp, but still had to play modified versions of his riffs. I suspect Sharon Osborne was being protective over copyrights.
Was just thinking the same...
Different kind of copyrights.
Why would Sharon Osbourne hold any rights over Randy's name. That would fall to his family.
@@DM-sy4hg not the name, the riffs.
The riffs are from oz songs and he have the copyright
@@victorsantos9129 and that still would have nothing to do with Sharon, that's the record company.
Glad to see This one after so many years after it was released! Literally the amp that got me to play guitar
Who's this guitarist? I am playing these vids just because of him.
Steve smith!
He is the Man from U.N.C.L.E
What a great sounding amp 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I’m in love 😍😍
Marshall to the core! Sounds amazing! :-)
That wasn’t Crazy Train. That was Mentally disabled Locomotive
😂
kwkw i think is same
Marshall don't need Sharon coming down on them with the lawyers for copyright infringement.
@@abnzg thats not how it works. you can cover a song on youtube. i have. its the fact this is really a commercial for Marshall. its a nice amp, and we're all gawking at it but truth its a commercial for goods for sale.
@@shimonbenloulou1778 so you're agreeing with me. because that's exactly how it works.
I want. What a great sound
I remember when these were announced. I was still very far away to ever getting a tube amp, but I desired this amp so much! I still like it a lot, although I don't think I would get it for my music nowadays. I'll stick with my JTM for now
Very nice playing and narration. Fine looking AMP, cheers! 💙👍💙
That is one badass Marshall.
Mommy I want one!!!
this sound ... honey on the ears .... love
When are we going to have a reissue of these signature amps? especially the Slash jcm
Isn't the Slash just a Jubilee head ?
@@rodrossi9749 Yep Slash uses the Jubilee heads
@Carl Rheinhardt...... then obviously you don't want a Silver Jubilee, since they are one in the same.
@Carl Rheinhardt ..... tubes and transformers can change everything .
@Carl Rheinhardt definitely a good assumption, I'm sure you would have liked it with new tubes and a proper re-biasing. 👍
Like to see another release of the Randy Rhoads amp. And also another release of the Lemmy bass amp. And also Marshall please release some gig worthy Bass amps and cabs
Beautiful amp. Looks as good as It sounds.
Sounds wonderful!
Sounds better! I signed my amp myself so I have my own signature model
Love it, but is Marshall re-releasing this?
I wonder as well. 😁 Not that i need another one.
Recently Marshall has been releasing video playthroughs of classic signature amps they have made over the years. Amps sitting around the Marshall Museum that are no longer in production.
@@JBASH2011 Thanks, Jeff!
@@marshallamps why not make this amp available again? It has the classic Marshall sound to me. Sounds right. That's it.
@@marshallamps but is marshall re releasing any amps like this 👁👄👁
Nothing beats a Marshall!!
Such a rich and full sound
We need a rerelease of this they are just so cool yet with only 600 of them they are so rare and people want them so we just need a rereleased
Dope playing
i have this amp, it is a beast for sure! even takes pedals amazingly if you cant crank it up. this thing is ungodly loud and i love it
MUCH better representation of what the amp sounds like out of the box as opposed to the video from Paul from Guitar World, where it appears hitting with the D+ and possible EQ to get the real live sound and much more gain and sizzle that this clip.
Marshall really got the head enclosure wrong and this one with the thick sides and top, more like a JCM800 than Randy's original 1979 JMP which was in a Plexi enclosure and thinner walls!
Oh, and you could have gotten closer by dialing in Randy's settings. You're Volume I is too low at "4" and needs to be more like "6"-"7".
I love the RR Amp. My dream stack.
At the very end of his life prior to RR demise...He was almost always using his new proto signature Jackson V and Several (3) new Roswell shaped Charvels that were custom made for him that we're to be showcased in the never to happen tour/s...His brother/estate is said to have the rarely seen last guitars RR never got to showcase (1) Jackson V (Signature)??? and Sandoval all black Custom V and 2 Charvel Custom Roswell flying V By the last 6 months of his life His coveted 75 Les Paul Custom was reduced to the guitar that he could comfortably sit down and write songs...He preferred his more shred friendly options that was following a major trend going further into the 80s. Remember RR is from West Hollywood... LA Hair Metal Central 3 months prior to his untimely demise He became Guitar Magazine 1981 Guitarist of the year.👑 ...At this point Charvel, Jackson and Sandoval we're at this beckon and call flooding him with custom guitars to his specific needs. He really liked polka dots
Roswell shaped charvels lol? Randy only had 2 jackson rhoads models and a rhoads prototype that he died before getting. Youre making up stuff 😏
@@Kris-xs7kc also Randy's thing was bowties, he only had the one polka dot V and nothing else even hinted towards polka dots.
@@zakkmylde1712 more like vests.. bowties were QR era
@@Kris-xs7kc the inlays on most of his custom guitars were still bowties.
@@zakkmylde1712 no, only the karl sandoval polka dot V had bow tie inlays, and that was in the QR era when he got it in 77. His jacksons had square and triangle inlays.
Way to avoid copyright strike!
He also used a plethora of MXR FX
I want this amp soo bad! I can't believe I missed out!!!
Marshall should rerelease some of these fabulous amps!!!
Marshall's Diamond Anniversary next year! Hope you have both some great amps & another gig at the Wembley Arena planned to celebrate :)
(please don't have Al Murray back)
On pics i’ve seen Randy plugged into the upper left channel not using the mod. From what i’ve red Randy ordered this amp with the modification from Marshall but his other older Marshall didn’t have it. Not sure of his older Marshall though.
Not for nothing you guys never make a signature amp for the most influential artist aside from The JH100 and AFD 100. I mean where’s the Jimmy page 1959 and the EVH 68 super lead?. How about an Angus or Malcolm Young signature?
That's a looker!!!
Awesome guitarist!
Actually RR had KT88's as power tubes and not EL34's and Altec Lansing as cab speakers
Marshall, che suono fantastico, unico
I know the point of a limited amp is to be limited... but please make more so I can buy one!
Marshall needs to make a production studio version of this and along with a studio version of the Slash AFD. Come on guys...dont say that would be a bad idea. Doing something like that would prob make Slash drop Magnatone. Plus make a bunch of happy Marshall lovers.
And we cant buy this amp either…. 💀 thx Marshall
REISSUE IT!
The classic license free song 'Insane Locomotive' 🤣
killer!
How many times can you make a Marshall sound like a Marshall..
Didn't Marshall use the worms power tubes for that reissue? I think Randy used KT88s and the reissue had EL34?
Great, but I want a JCM-Slash
This amp needs to be reissued
Doug Uldrigh should test that amp.....
Please re-issue the Joe Satriani head in a 20 watt 3 channel version!!!
Would be amazing
Dual cascading = Jcm 800. Therefore = Randy's AMP?
No, totally different circuit.
Is this recorded with an attenuator or was it only the amp into the cab played loud?
Does this Marshall have a master volume and if so what was the relative level of the master volume to the front preamp volume settings
Great looking and sounding amp. I just hope Marshall used better quality pots and knobs than they did on the Silver Jubilee 2555X Reissue. The 2555X amps are notorious for knobs that snap off from the pot shafts when turned. This happened to me personally, and causes me to think twice about investing in another Marshall.
🤘🏻
Should reissue the MARSHALL MAJOR. John Frusciante, Ritchie Blackmore...the list goes on
Chewy 🤤
Please make the Ritchie Blackmore Major Signature!
Guess who bought this amp in mint condition with all the case candies and original box? (all in mint condition)
More signature amps please!
But does it have Altec Lansing 417-8H speakers?
Wow
WHY not make a combo version of this amp????
didn't he only used an overdrive in a regular plexi?
🥵🔥🔥
Demoing more discontinued amps. Sad
so that's it? showing us something we cant buy anymore? reissue it!!
É 🏴☠️⚡🏴☠️
.
Randy never used the mod. Any Plexi with the MXR Dist+ with the distortion on zero and volume on 10 will get you there.
Maybe 20 watt version?
Hell yeah. Jmp and jcm in one amp. Wouldnt even need all the modern outputs.
Time traveler stepped on a roach
Anyone in the Essex area UK have one for sale maybe?
Needs more treble in it. And more gain. Its nearly Randy, but not quite.
That wasn’t I don’t know. That was I know
There's a guy selling the head for 2500 on OfferUp in Cali
Randy really loved Mick Ronson way back and because of that he made sure his first LP was white. Wonder where that is?
I really want one, cant you guys re release them?
You can already preorder them at Thomann!
@@reneotten7376 i cant find it, send link please!
Education for you noobs MXR!!!!
Muito som ! Primeiro comentário.
So confusing. A 1959 SLP JMP has 2 channels and 4 inputs. But this SL has the power switches like a 2203, which is a 1 channel amp with 2 inputs and a master volume. Is there an original Marshall JMP MK II model that looks like this with 2203 power switches, 2 channels, and 4 inputs? #Unicorn
Yes, the 1978 100 watt 1 /12 combo has rocker switches, 4 input just like a plexi, and a separate master volume on the front panel, the one variant is the transformer is only 4 or 8 ohms
What speakers?
@Biggerino I just sold my g75 :( miss my icepick speaker. I think all of the celestions have function, now I use a v30 with mesa blackshadow. In the future I will buy a g75 again, very top speaker yes :)
He should’ve plugged in something with Seymour Duncan pick ups.
Far cry from Randy's tone
he’s playing straight through the amp with no pedals. of course its not gunna sound exactly like Randy’s 🤦♂️
RR
Why are you guys releasing videos of amps that you’re not selling? It’s the most bizarre marketing campaign.
Hello, we're celebrating our heritage by releasing playthroughs of classic or limited-edition signature amps we have made over the years - an exploration of the legendary amps in our Marshall Museum archive that are no longer in production.
Rad
Mars hall. Don't you?
I'd do disgusting, unholy and vile things for a reissue of this amp.
and you can't make these amps now because?
The 1959RR was a limited-edition amplifier released in 2008, and was limited to 600 units.
they need altecs to be a randy signature😂
Neunzehn fifty neun😂😂 er hat deutsch geredet!!!
Need Jimmy Page Signature !!!
