Holy cow. I remember watching Rick on ESPN when i was a young teenager. He always taught good, clean, quality technique. One of the first people on national television to regularly teach bodybuilding on a weekly to daily basis. Huge influence on every rep ive ever taken since.
wow amazing what a great podcast this is the first time iv,e seen this guy resurface since the golden era yes he has changed a bit but haven,t we all lol.
I vividly remember those days at the Ansonia, CT/Valley Y basement from 75-83. WAY before the explosion of gyms and the fitness industry. The days when the only motivation was the latest edition of Muscle Builder, which you couldn't wait to purchase at United Cigar in Derby, CT, and the recently released (1974) book "Pumping Iron". A cadre of about the same 15 guys routinely showed up every night at 6pm. A list that included Rick, deadlift national record holder Sherman Backus, Masters Mr. Olympia contestant Steve Comboni, and in the off-season, Kansas City Chiefs guard Tom Condon. A lot of energy from guys who just loved the gym! Virtually no way out of the basement except up the stairs you come down on! No air conditioning....the walls would sweat in the humid Connecticut summers! Wouldn't pass any fire inspection today. Remember Rick very well. His triceps were off the hook even 50 years ago. Good for you RIck!
i remember my idol Arnold Z. in 1980's Macho Mr. Universe up to now if he have old and new film hollywood pilikula i see in youtube i want to see him in personal Inshaallah🙏❤
Attitude is altitude. Yeah drugs were everywhere. The question was which drug combo are you on tonight. But the pot wasn't insanely potent like today's science weed. The women were more into guys. They have more college degrees and their own money now. They don't see men as upgrade on lifestyle anymore. They used to like rock and roll. Now brats in tats listening to crap music. Who wants to talk to that? This guy is great. Right attitude, humble and appreciative, positive.
Can’t wait for your book! I remember those days well Fort Lauderdale Beach and Competing in the Mr.Florida competition! Let’s not forget our secret vascularity trick a little red wine before hitting the stage! Lol Miss those days my friend! 💪😀
If possible I would also request Escape fitness to include one interview a month with an old school irongame icons of men/women. This will fill the void left after the passing away of our respected Ric Drasin who used to do such interviews in his you tube channel Ricscorner
Thanks to legends like Ric and other icons of old school iron game era that motivated & still do many well beyond its said years to pursue lifting weights. I am sure I and many of my irongame brethren world wide would have never been addicted to the irongame if we had seen the very massive unaesthetic muscle men of today then in the late 80s as teens. Unlike the no class just mass muscle built by an ergogenic cocktail aided physiques of today who look more like 5 months into gestation that has totally negated the vacuum pose hold which was the hallmark of old school aesthetic bodybuilding. Lets hope talks such as this will create awareness on the importance of having size with symmetry that's aesthetic to behold and also layout the history and lessons of the iron game for generation z to listen and learn.
I've been training over 35 years now and I've observed the same thing that Rick's talks about in gyms today. It really is a tragedy🤪😪 Is it in the book what happened to his brother?

Rick can't stop using the word "amazing" to the point of ridiculousness. Aside from this annoying obsession, he seems like a great individual.
Amazing!!!
