    I believe in the philosophy of developing one’s philosophy over time through one’s life experiences rather than influenced by someone else’s thoughts. When you start practicing thinking, over time you will think greater thoughts. You don’t need philosophy books, they only hinder the possibilities of your mind. I see most people read such books only to look cool, and I believe the same is the case with the ones who wrote them.

      Agree. It's better to learn HOW to think than WHAT to think.

    • @adi-qx8ls
      @adi-qx8ls 14 дней назад +1

      Nah going through academic process is much better bcs for most of the people doesn't actually have that capacity to philosophise from the very beginning, getting certain level of awareness about the development of historical genesis of philosophy and current day philosophy will be more fruitful and effective way rather than assessing one's life and making meaningful judgement and deductions from it, like lol there's very little scope in it. How could you make deductions about logic, philosophy of science, mathematics, history, epistemology, etc. without going into the subject matter?

    • @adi-qx8ls
      @adi-qx8ls 14 дней назад +1

      Also until and unless you doesn't actually interact with the thoughts of the named personalities mentioned here, you doesn't have any right to claim that they did so just to be pretentious, like come on there's a reason why millions of people read and research on their writings. That's a very shallow assessment from your side, which also further proved my point that until and unless you doesn't have a flair for philosophically inclined thinking, you can't develop that level of depth with in your thoughts without going through the written text material.

    Excuse me, but in what world do we begin philosophy with Beyond Good and Evil?
    Nietzsche literally argues that morality is for the weak and that the strong simply do what they want to do.

  • @lostsoulofcinema
    @lostsoulofcinema Месяц назад +2

    Dostoevsky for his understanding of human psyche. Nietzsche for his strong prose and his dissection of morality in a societal setting. Camus for the vagueness of the existential feeling as well as the existential person (more precisely the plane of consciousness that he calls the absurd). And lastly, Kafka because he's Kafka. He's in his own league and there could be no motivation to read his books. You just have to read them.

    I'm sorry but did you recommend Nietzsche to beginners? maybe you're incredibly smart which is why this 'mistake' might have happened, but you should realise that for the average, or even above average, reader, Nietzsche is NOT the right philosopher. His books should be read after you've read more basic, introductory books, books from other existentialists and works/philosophers that he discusses -even then you'd likely need a secondary book.
    It is often joked about in philosophy circles that even Nietzsche didn't understand himself, so how can a newcomer?

    I think Dostoyevsky's "Notes from the Underground" is probably not a good introduction, especially for people who are just getting into Philosophy. The first part is the Underground man just explaining himself and his ideology - a ideology based in spite and sickness - which can be off putting to many. Instead i would recommend Crime and Punishment . It is a better introduction to Dostoyevsky, even though it is the longer of the two, it is more engaging as we follow the psychological turmoil of Raskalnikov after what he does to the lousy pawnbroker.

    Sophie's World is a good start on Western Philosophy. Fyodor Dostoevsky is not for beginners. A book for beginners must not be judged in terms of number of pages (patli book). It should be judged on the basis of developing interest in the subject.

    I think that if you can objectively evaluate yourself from a third-person perspective, you do not need to study the philosophy of someone like you.

    I too like the philosophy genre very much n when i finally decided to read philosophy I was clueless so i did some research and i found stoicism very fascinating so i wanted to read more about it but the book i picked as a complete beginner to philosophy is 'sophie's world' by jostein gaarder which is my current read the book is brilliant read it whether u like philosophy or not. after this i intend to read stoic books. What according to u is a good way to read philosophy? is it to pick a school of thought say nihilism or anti natalism n read about that discover different authors n dive deep? or what other way do u recommend?

      nihilism and antinatalism are not philosophy in academic sense but praxis or the end of philosophy

      @@subhranilghosh8028 Read problems in philosophy by Bertrand Russell or Introduction to Western Philosophy by Y Masih. For Indian schools you can go for Introduction to Indian Philosophy by Dutta and Chatterjee
