I really enjoyed your review, for me the best I have seen on the M11s. I particularly appreciated the fact that you did not start dwelling on the difference in the mids, in the treble and whatever between the S and the plus, but that you honestly admitted that they sound about the same to normal (i.e. vast majority) of ears. Thank you.
Same. For me, different DACs ofcourse have different characters (and personally I can differetiate many of them), but it's not that different as many people state😂 I think people are simply have different opinion about how different is different enough 😂
I recently bought a M11S and the programmable extra button is fantastic if you're constantly using it as a desktop DAC. As I find it easier to just click the button and select "USB DAC Mode" than having to scroll the top menu.
It's cool to see you doing DAP reviews. It's too bad you weren't sent a review unit of the upcoming TempoTec V6 which has similar specs to this (Android 8 though) at $279 right now. Incredible value.
I was about to post a question asking whether we'll ever see hardware comparable to this in the $350 or less range. So many thanks for mentioning it. Do you know of any communities/forums dedicated to this unit?
Top Review!! The following is also quite important to mention. The latest Firmware for the 11S enables to stream bit-perfect using Roon. The first reasonable (actually Low-) priced DAP that's able to do so. Just like Astell&Kern DAP's only much faster and at lower costs. The M11S is just like the Astell&Kern DAP's officially .labeled as "Roon Ready" by Roonlabs
R2R at this small body is rather marketing then reality :) If you will read a little bit about real R2R you will realise that it's about unreal to implement the technology in such a small case.
Hello, I'm a beginner in this field. I know that these devices work best with headphones (I have a Sony XM4). My question is: do these devices work with the new Bose ultra headphones? Thanks 🙏🏼
Great review as always! Quick question : I stream lossless files from Apple music. I use eq. Is there a system wide eq on this player (or the ibasso players) where I can use for Apple music? Also does poweramp work in this player in which its eq settings will work on Apple music?
How is the shuffle music option, I noticed my android phone music player sucks under the shuffle...ipod mastered the shuffle option if I had a 1000 songs Ipod would start from 1 and shuffle every song in the library until reaching 1000 songs while my android will repeat songs already played in shuffle 😑
Ok, I used to be an iPod fan but, obviously, no more. I had the HiBy Gen 5 but the battery wouldn't stay in the unit and the backing would not go on. I wont be streaming music and prefer just to put my chip in and listen to my music. Should I try the Fiio M11S or keep searching? I want good sound and the only time battery life might be a problem would be on long flights. But even on long flights, I alway carry a charger. So....what do you all think? $500 is about my price limit. Thanks
you can listen through albums folders by activating listen through folders in the fiio music player settings or sth like that. That way it will play album after album of the same artist by itself.
It will play all the albums of one artist and then move to next artists albums. Basically it plays everything in order without stopping . At least you dont have to manually move from album to album.
Hi, how did you manage to transfer your folders with the music to the internal storage memory ? I can send only single mp3 or flac tracks through WiFi Transfer but not the entire folders. The system does not copy folders. Thanks !
I use an app called Drive Sync to automatically sync my music library over Google Drive. If you don't use Google Drive, just eject the memory card and use a memory card reader.
Feel anything? If you're asking about sound quality, it makes literally zero difference if you're using the Fiio or Pixel and you're using a Bluetooth headphone / TWS.
Is a DAP capable to play dap through a home stereo receiver? (either via bluetooth or hard wired in) Never owned a DAP. I just use my phone for streaming.
@@Skoozatz, my understanding is if you are hardwired you will benefit from the DAC inside the DAP and do not suffer the compression inherent in Bluetooth connections.
Hi, I just bought this device and i'm having trouble inserting the sd, is there any trick? It gets twisted before going all the way in and it just feels wrong
Nicely Done. You hit 98% of my questions unheard of :) Does the fact that M11S has 3 gigs of ram mean better speed compared to the Hiby R5G2 2 gigs while streaming or is it all in the processor ? and Do either run very warm with balanced connections ? Thanks in advance
I'm sure the RAM helps but hard to know how much. The player never got warm for me, but I did not use balanced connectors for long -- I tend to prefer 3.5mm.
No Coaxial Digital adapter which has been included in every Fiio DAP since the X5iii. Not sure why they would do that as those are extremely difficult to find online. I think they drop the ball on that one 🏀

What characteristics of an IEM in terms of sound am I looking for when choosing the best one for for watching a movie? Which IEM would you recommend? EDIT: Maybe make a video about this?
I initially didn't like it, UI seemed too flashy and took wayyyy too many settings to get it to look how I like, but when I discovered that you can export and import settings, that reduced my anxiety about customization... and now I've got it customized super simple and I love it.

Mid-tier android phone with SD slot and 3.5" jack still makes more sense than this to me. The Redmi 11Pro I'm rocking 350GB of CD quality audio (on an SD card), runs smoother, gets constant app updates, and has more than enough power for IEMs and common, portable headphones. The home screen on my dap-phone is just Qobuz, Plexamp and Audible. Its for those three apps and runs them well. I don't have a SIM card in it. Wi-Fi is enough.
Bro why do you say we can't hear differences between dap? Between daps, there are differences of sonic performance, they sound differently, with their own sound signature, because dap has a high tier dac and a factory tuning. Nowadays it is not subjective anymore, they can be measured quantitatively (using audio graph). It is like wearing glasses. Dap is the frame and the iem/headphone is the lens. Dap sets the baseline quality of the source production using their embedded DAC (this DAC is why they sound differently), just like the glasses so u can see through the lens. Then you listen to the source using iem, just like the lens in the glasses to perceive visual objects, which affects hugely on how you perceive the auditory stimulation of the music. Dap contributes to sound performance you will hear, but not as much as the cans. I own m11s after carefully auditioning between different dap, and m11s has this reference/analytical sound sig which some avg users probably won't like (which I like because I love analytical listening, but I wont break my bank account). Hey there is no one shirt that fits all in audio, people hear differently with their own taste.
I expect that if you listened to the M11S vs. another DAP in a blind A-B scenario with volumes matched, you would not confidently say that the M11S sounds more reference/analytical than the other. It would be hard to even tell them apart, let alone make that distinction.
