James, I think you've nailed it with your description of the Vantage being somewhat of a "hybrid" (I use the word here not meaning electric/petrol driven but hybrid as something doing two things at once.) It seems to me the Vantage may be the ideal DD for the discerning enthusiast. It's got a big enough boot to handle some groceries, laundry, etc so the driver can handle "everyday chores" yet as you said, if you find yourself on a road with some twisties, it can be "a bit of an animal." Now I don't think Aston Martin has completely blurred the lines between sports car and a GT car. The lack of dual clutch gearbox keeps it from being a great sports car, so I think it's slightly more GT than sports car and again even though it is plenty capable as a DD, its not even the perfect car for that (think MB AMG E63 S Wagon, Panamera GT or your own Audi RS Wagon.) Again it doesn't do anything perfectly, its just does a lot of things pretty well. But all of this is eclipsed by the fact is has a timeless design and is an utterly f#%king gorgeous car!

You need to get yourself into a classic, I just spent an while fixing the bonnet catch on an old mg and loved it, older cars can give you so much satisfaction and there aren’t enough classics on youtube

Wondered if you still had the vantage. Great video. One for the future when they come down in price a bit. . hopefully. Had an MGC with the straight 6 and the rawness of driving classics is pretty special. Certainly gets the shoulders and arms working hard with the steering 😁

Yes it should have a Dual Clutch. AM should have gotten the DCT from AMG as well as the AMG GT has a DCT as well. I’m honestly wondering how the new Vantage would sound and perform with that Flat Plane V8 that’s is the Mustang GT350.
They’ve used AMG’s engine, so they could have used AMG’s Speedshift twin clutch, I guess that they’ve used a Torque Converter rather than a Twin Clutch because AM it’s a more traditional brand

I just wish you did a couple more videos with the Vantage, especially a bit of dynamic driving on some twisties... it's supposed to be a sportscar after all...! you also didn't show us the new interior spec after you said they changed it a bit...
he said they changed a few things on the interior, because that's the same car they had on display at Geneva. I guess they had removed some things after the show, which they have now added again? I'm not really sure because there hasn't been a video about those changes...
Meandering a bit on the PDK auto box , would it be better or not with one , changes don't sound to shabby with the 8 speed ,although most cars with the AMG engine seem to have gone down the PDK route, your view is that the PDK is king but would it make any real difference in the vantage .
Not the gearbox thing again. Are you aware James that members of the automotive press (Matt Prior for one) have said that the gearbox technology has advanced now to the point that it being a regular autobox in this car does not matter or compromise it at all.
I think this car needed a DCT & more weight removed for it to be a true true super sports car. No doubt the AMR version will go down that route, rather than being a suspension tweak and a cosmetic pack :P literally as I hit enter you mentioned the DCT. I agree with you totally. These types of cars, that super sports car segment needs the DCT to differentiate from the GT cars. IMO. I've had people say to me, oh but the ZF is just as quick.... yea but it doesn't feel as sporting. It's a totally different feel. Those are the people that haven't driven both or aren't interested in the feel of the box. These cars need that distinction of the DCT to give it a racier feel. Otherwise it could just be an E class or 5 series diesel :P :P
Hi James, I always wonder and didn't find that anywhere... How are these cars in the daily usage against normal cars like your RS6? I mean what about headlights for example? Are they good as Matrix headlights? Do these cars (Grand Tourers sport cars like Vantage) have everything like these saloons do (Audi A6, Merc E Classe, BMW 5 series), when we talk about modern tech features, what makes traveling very relaxing? Don't you wanna do video about this? Or insert it to the some of your next videos for brief moment?

It looks like you are not a big fan of the new Vantage but since Aston was so kind to rent it, you had to find something nice about it.
