Chapter three of "The Revelstoke Diaries" features local RCMP Officer Faron Ling.
Growing up in Ottawa, Faron developed a passion for skiing at a young age which has become a lifelong obsession - having spent a number of winters skiing big mountain terrain and competing in freestyle competitions at resorts throughout British Columbia.
Looking for a new challenge, Officer Ling graduated from the RCMP Academy in 2016 and was stationed at the Revelstoke Detachment - a town where he had spent several winters when he was younger - skiing as many days each year as he could.
Being stationed in Revelstoke today enables Officer Ling to combine his passion for police work with his love of skiing.
As someone who embraces positive visualization techniques, Officer Ling finds that his skills in policing and in skiing are complimentary in enabling him to accomplish goals both on and off the mountain.
Wearing the famous Red Serge, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police have become an emblem of Canadian culture, recognized around the world ... with Officer Ling showing that there's more to a Canadian Mountie than just a uniform - they can also ski pretty well too.
