Glad you got to check this one out. It’s a good one! I find that GMT’s recent COIN offshoots get the balance between theme and gameplay just right. The British Way is supposed to be good too. Also looking forward to A Gest of Robin Hood and Cross Bronx Expressway.

If you haven’t played it and enjoy 3 player games, Maria is the one I name and say is the poster child for 3 player games.
that one is a little like Friedrich but allows verbal agreements (or trade or something ?)
@user-ub1dz8js7s it's essentially the sequel to Friedrich. Same designer and same combat. What it does that is different is there is no team like in Friedrich. Each player fights to win for themselves
@@drstclairIn Friedrich there is no 'team' as such and every player fights for themselves also to win by capturing all of 'their' strategic flags. Although Friedrich is asymmetric in that Prussia is the most powerful so players can form (unspoken alliances against the more powerful Prussia (and Austria)) which 'should' be the underlying strategy. I know that Prussia wins if no nation has captured all of the strategic flags by the end of turn (15 ? or so?) so in some sense it is a 1 Vs Many game but not 'quite'. Is Maria not a 1 Vs Many game in that sense ?
I love Friedrich, and I have Maria on my shelf but have never played it. Someday.
The only other dedicated 3-player game I am aware of is Ticket to Ride: Nordic COuntries.
There are several solid 3-player historical games out there, including Wallace’s God’s Playground & After the Flood, Eklund’s Greenland & Neanderthal, Hermann’s Churchill, Three Kingdoms Redux, as well as Matagot’s Inis.
Of those, I’ve only played Churchill. Thanks.
It is a fantastic game. It also feels like a coin game, I think they just wanted to kickstart their new irregular conflict line.

I am a big fan of the COIN games. I am also very interested in Indian history (just beginning to read and learn about it). This one looks really interesting.
Of course, I just ordered a copy of Imperium Romanum (3rd edition). Covers the Roman Republic/Empire from about 88 BC to AD 700. My copy of Imperium Romanum II is, literally, crumbling, just like Rome. Been playing it several times each year since I first bought it in the early-90s.

It was a history I was unfamiliar with, as I mention in the video. With that said, I found the game very fun and engaging.
At least you will never starve getting there through the desert.
