Just bought "new story" after having/playing the old one for years. Now I want a refresher and to find out what's new. Did the tutorial and am now watching your video. Still an excellent resource after 3 years! Once I'm done with this, I'm going to try my first game of "new story" online, and then hopefully eventually move it to the table. Thanks so much!

Great video! I have watched other people play the digital app, and you have done the best explanation of what the computer is doing regarding production, etc. You also explained the blue and yellow tracks and happy faces very clearly. Regarding the contest, I think there were 2 cards that gave you the same score compared to your opponents. Not the largest score, but the largest score difference is how I read the contest question.

@@GamingRulesVideos However, I've just realised there's one bit I don't get despite watching it back a dozen times. You said when bidding that if you bid 3 on that particular occasion, it would jump from 2 to 7. I don't get it. Why? And why is 3 a silly bid as a result? Everything else I am down with.

2 hours and not even finishing Age 1? That is absolutely normal for your first game. There is a lot going on.

I know... I was thinking this might be just an hour, but I do play through the whole game, and give lots of tips.
@@GamingRulesVideos Dont mean to be a jerk, but it is tough to find a good teaching tool for the app. Reading the rules is long and your would need to translate them to the app format. The app's tutorial tries too hard to be funny and becomes incredibly long as well. A 15min how to play seems to be needed here.

Thanks for this. I have recently downloaded the game and I found the tutorial was fantastic to a point. But I got to the stage where my opponent declared war and I was left to figure out how to increase my strength enough to win on my own. No matter what I tried, I couldn’t find a way to do it. I think the tutorial was about to finish anyway, so I don’t think I missed anything by not being able to carry on. I can tell that it will take a great deal of practice to really get the hang of this game.
Grab the cavalry card for 3, then play your card that adds two science, then build the cavalry. Then with your 3 military actions, build 2 cavalry and play your tactics.
Great video. I did the tutorial, but didn't really understand all the political stuff. I'll actual play this game now.

Is this game better to buy through Steam or buy as an app on the phone?
Really enjoyed your Through the Ages video. Played a game on the app with a much better understanding of what I was doing although, ultimately I still came 3rd 202, 173, 139. Can you tell me what the 2 numbers mean on strength when one is above another
The number in the shield is your total military strength. The number above it (if any) is in a boat image. That is the number of bonus colonization points you get when bidding from a colony. Techs like Cartography have this.
I just played my first game with 1 trainer and 1 Easy AI. I scored 245 and the easy AI scored 272. Looks like it's a big difference from your easy AI score.
When playing solo, if you own a colony that gives you a free turn, how do you take that turn?
I’m not sure what you mean. There is no colony that gives an extra turn.
Please add me to the Thankful List! I've had the game since beginning of 2021, but couldn't grok the Tutorial. I just re-installed it, and am looking to get playing (badly).
I'm 2 minutes in, I really hope you figure out how to turn down/off the in game music.
