I don't own a Tesla, but I signed up for an overnight demo drive with FSD. I was able to drive from my home to my mothers house, which is a 45 min drive (no highways), and only required one intervention, and it was not a safety issue....it was just zigzagging between two lanes which both turned left, as if it couldn't decide which turn lane to use. Overall, super impressed. Unprotected left turns are still scary though! I found your channel because I'm very interested in getting a robotic mower, but some of your other content, like this one, is very cool. Very nice job.

Well, it's only April 2nd, so I am guessing you haven't run into this scenario: school bus stopped with its red lights flashing and of course you've got to stop. Does the self-driving function use the red brake lights in addition to the closing distance to know when to start slowing down and then stopping? How does it know the speed limit? Reads the signs? A database? I guess I could ask them question as to how google maps knows the speed limits in most places? With regards to the road trip concept you mentioned, since you still have to be attentive and such, how much of a break does not keeping the pedal pressed give you? When I was driving from South Dakota to NY, I was sorta budgeting about 500 miles per day. Would FSD let me do say 600 and still be somewhat bright-eyed and bushy-tailed? One last thought: If I had been driving a FSD Tesla back in 2021 while I was in Vermont, I would not have gotten an official warning for not coming to a full stop at the blinking red light. I had slowed (true, not stopped) to maybe 5 mph, looked left and right and saw left was clear and from the right there was an SUV about 1/4 mile away, so I had enough time to make my left turn. Turns out Vermont State Trooper vehicles have luggage rack style light systems on the roof, so I didn't know it was the trooper until the lights flashed. The FSD feature would have ensured that the car stopped and that suv drove by. At least it was just the warning document. How's the vacuum system working out?
I’m not sure if the vision system takes into account brake lights or simply vehicle position and velocity. I believe it’s vehicle position and velocity because there is no indication on the visualization of brake lights.
I did use autosteer on the interstates on our roadtrip to Yellowstone last summer. It does reduce driving fatigue, but no, not to zero …probably takes 10-20% off for me. As they say, results may vary 🤣.

A lot of great questions. I haven’t come upon a school bus yet but I’ve heard others say it recognizes red flashing lights.

Yes, FSD would prevent a rolling stop but you might get a speeding ticket in very strict areas…it’s tuned like a driver from Chicago
