    Thanks Rosie. I have been struggling with anchoring. You see i competed many years in Olympic Weightlifting. And i always locked larynx and lats together during every lift. So now when i try to anchor,my throat also tightens. I think its the false vocal folds that tighten. Thanks for all your videos,Colin.

      Hi Colin. Yes, it's likely FVF constriction if that's what you used to feel when you were lifting. You shouldn't feel any constriction when anchoring so it's possible you're engaging far too much or habitually connect the two. Anchoring should be subtle so it's about finding the balance and isn't the best technique for everyone!

      @@VoxYoga Thanks Rosie. Yes I think I will give anchor a miss. That's the puzzling thing as I keep hearing how important abdominal and other core strength is for singing,yet it acts against me. Thanks Colin.

      @@colinbellvintagehymnssongs5291 It's very different for those that have trained to work the muscles in other ways. If you already have a very strong core, you may actually need to minimise engagement. That's why it's useful to work with a teacher so they can tailor exercises for you :)
