Dude , You did a great job! Your English is just fine. Thanks for the insight!
Great review. Thanks.
After thirty years longing for 2-channel again I went to my local hifi-dealer in 2020. They presented Bluesound Powernode 2i(2x60 watt). They had paired it with B&W 707 s2. At first when listening to it in their listening room I thought they were pulling my leg. My first thought was "How is it possible that these small loudspeakers with this small amplifier can sound so fantastic". It was just jaw-dropping. For instance, the bass coming out from these small elements is amazing. The problem I have now is that it sounds better than my other amplifier which cost 4 times more.
Having just demo'd these two speakers side by side and also the KEF LS 50's and Def Tech D11's, I was blown away by the BW 707 S2's. The clarity, sound stage, and over all crispness of the sound is the best I have ever heard in stand mount speakers. I listened to these on a $2500 Marantz AVR, I can't imagine how good these could sound with a proper amp/per-amp set up with more power. The 707 S2's will be my next speaker purchase for sure. Thanks for the detailed review.
Hi, if you have limited budget, which will you upgrade first, your amplifier or your speakers? I kind of need suggestion on this 😊
@@gunawanwidjaja2746 Speakers, then amp/ AVR IMHO...
@@gunawanwidjaja2746 Speaakers, then avr, and last amp. I am on a budget and you can optimize your speakers around your avr. Yamaha a2a 100w per channel so I'm just getting speakers that are not power hungry, but still high quality. The subwoofer will be the one you can get away with since most have a built in amp.
I review audio as well, and I own the 707 S2. Run with a Naim Atom or Nova or my Vinnie Rossi L2i SE they are stunners. Beat my LS50 with ease, beat Proac Tablette Anniversary for me as well (double the cost). The 707 S2 are now $1499 btw, but well worth it. Amazing speakers in a small space (my room is 12X13). Haven't heard better in this size up to $3k. I even prefer the 707 S2 in many ways to my Dynaudio Special 40's. To me the 607 were nice but had a more hollow type of sound going on when directly compared to the 707. The 707's are rich, meaty, yet delicate and detailed with a massive soundstage and air. Lifetime mini speakers ; )
what do u mean a more hollow sound?
how would 607 or 707 sound with average ht amp, are they worth buying
I would get 607s and replace its 4usd tweeter capacitor with high end capacitor say 100usd each , this tweek Will transform the tweeter performance , speakers will disapear in space and highs will loose a bit of sizzle that hard dome tweeters have.
I have done it on 686s2 and they sound cleaner in highs than 707!
4.3uf capacitor is the one and only single part in the crossover so swaping it from stock 4usd part does make these tweeters sound phenomenal!
Interesting idea :) What capacitor model/make would you recommend? I have a pair of 686s1 that i can try and modify
Great review! Really appreciate your simple explanations as it puts it into perspective. I purchased the 607’s and have been very pleased! The price went up $100 about three months after I purchased. I bi-wired to my Yamaha amp. Great sound! Thank you again for your reviews!
And 2 months ago they dropped the price by just over 25% so I snapped a pair up & don't regret it. They sound amazing.
The 707 S2 sounds amazing with a Marantz PM8006 integrated amplifier and lossless audio, CDs, and vinyl!
707s seem like a very solid choice. 👍🏻
Hey tharbamar have u tried or listen to d new b&w anniversary edition in d 607 or 606 I want to know which is better
Nice review. I just got a pair of 607 S2s and they are excellent. Amazing soundstage and clarity. Dense product just opens up with so much nuance.
Very good choice, thanks for sharing.
@@Tharbamar I never even considered B & W speakers before but such good things were being said about them I grabbed a pair of 607 s2 anniversary on offer with £150 off. What a great speaker it sounds amazing. No regrets.
I hear a lot of complaints about the highs on the B&W, but I don't hear this problem at all with my 707 S2s. I actually find that "pop" at the high end nice to listen to, it's lively and punchy sounding to my ears. That said, I don't listen to much music at high volumes so the harshness at louder volumes might not be liked by some.
I bought a full set of 600 S3 about 16 years ago and really love them. The build quality, attention to detail, and the many sound enhancing feature are really great. I find today’s 600 series too plain, just a simple square box with a basic finish. I’m sure they sound great. The 700 is a step up but it takes going to the 800 to get truly refined craftsmanship. My LCR has the nice sounding 6.5” kevlar midrange across all speakers, which together with the aluminum tweeter provides a nice and open soundstage. I really love the detailed sound. I listened to the 804s and fell in love with it and would like to listen to the 700s. There are many great sounding speakers out there, however love the B&W sound, truly great speakers.
I bought both and returned the 707s. Mostly because I have a smaller room and live in a townhouse. The 707s definitely have a lot more bass. Both are incredible speakers but the 607s are definitely the best bang for your buck and more of a versatile speaker imop. I didnt feel it was much of an "upgrade"
If you did a blind test the bass would stand out more than the tweeter on the 707s.. If you ever upgrade just use the 607s as rears. If I had a a slightly larger room the 707s would be my first pick but I don't hear much of a jump in price to performance vs the 600 series.
Great video, Thanks. In my opinion Matt finish looks good and elegant than the glossy one.
What may be a interesting try is to check out bowers and Wilkins 606.
Thanks for great comparison!
Keep on the good works!👍👍👍
Loved the review. You have good english! Very informative. Thanks!
607's now on sale for $489.90 a pair. great deal for little speakers
I have my 2nd pair of B&W CM1 and can relate... ;) If those 707 did evolve must be really good!
Perhaps it was more correct to review the 606 and 706 models because they have the larger woofers that best match the brilliant tweeter (especially in the 606 that also won the Eisa award 2019/2020).
I have never heard a Bowers and Wilkins tweeter that did not sound harsh to me. This includes the highly touted diamond tweeter. I am speaking from exeprience, since I have owned B and Ws in the past and gone to numerous B and W demo nights at a local dealer. I am not sure I would use the term "accurate" to describe B and Ws. In or around this price range, I find NHT and PSB to be more accurate, if by "accurate" you mean flat frequency response. I switched from B and W to the NHT C-3 and was amazed how much smoother the aluminum dome on the NHT sounded than any B and W tweeter I have heard. Another sonic characteristic of B and W I dislike is the somewhat recessed response in the presence range. If you like the B and Ws, go for it, but do yourself a favor and check out some other brands first before making your decision. I believe there are better speakers than the B and Ws for the same or even less monney.
It’s all relative to personal taste
Flat speaker is not better sounding, PSB sounds drier less musical and more sterile and almost lifeless to me .
Latest B&Ws are just much more exciting to listen to, with more there presence and higher spacial resolution.
@P. Hamilton Agreed , but without careful system match these can sound edgy, spitty and agressive in the tweeter's range.
Even better is removal of stock capacitor from tweeter filter and replacement with quality capacitor with added bypass cap.
Very simple procedure and makes huge difference
I just listened to the 606 Anniversary,. I was very impressed with the detail just thought it sounded sibilant & bright (as u mentioned) with half the tracks I listened to. Maybe it was Yamaha reciever it was powered by. I have a Rotel integrated, maybe it's warmer than the Yamamha.
Hi, how does B&W 607 vs B&W 606 S2 in term of sound quality?
i heard of the previous CM version of it. The high frequency is so different. sound so real and not sound like tweeter sound. compare the CM and the lower version, its totally different sound signature. i believe the upgrade from B&W will carry over the advantage too. but i really really love the tweeter sound.
Bryan Su do you mean that the old cm series is worse than the new 600 series?
Very useful to help me decide between both. Thanks!
oh man, just when I thought I'd made my decision to buy KEF LS50 Metas. I knew the B&W would be a good challenger, but now I need to think which is worth the purchase - the 607 or the 707!
607 vs 707? No contest, get the 707.
707 vs the metas? Its a toss up on preference. 707 will give better bass extension but might be too bright for some. Metas have better midrange but the bass is just lacking.
@@justanobody4983 I guess it depends on the style of music one listens too. If the preamp is good enough then turning down the treble might be a good option
what about 706?
I guess it comes down to how you are going to use a bookshelf speaker. These do look a bit large for desktop use, which would put them up on stands and forced to fill an entire listening room. 84dB isnt great but its not extraordinarily low for modern bookshelves where trying to get a small cabinet to deliver bass forces designers to specify less sensitive woofers. I know its hardly an apples-to-apples comparison, but my 'cheap charlie' rig is fine on my desktop despite the Edifier P17 measuring 77dB sensitivity and my little t-amp pushing out all of 50W on a good day. I can easily get this combination to uncomfortable listening levels and would have no problem annoying my neighbours if I was that kind of deads*it. I considered upgrading to the iLoud Micro Monitors (no messing around with a separate amp) but if something isn't broke, why throw more money at it ? I could afford the 607 (to my surprise, Australian retailers havent doubled the US price) but that would be complete overkill for me atm. Thanks for the video.
I am looking into possibly getting 606 S2's but I think I'll save up and get the 706 S2's instead. They're expensive but not out of range for regular mortals, haha.
How does 706s2 sound? Handsome Robin.
Wish I knew!
How do you feel about the 707 S2 in 2024? I found a brand new pair of the 707s2! The seller is asking quite, an expensive price.. Or do you think I'm just better off getting the 607s3 and save myself $450? I do like the piano black finish on the 707 S2. But sound quality is the most important thing, and ofcourse value for money what do you think.
Thanks very much, helpful review
Thanks for you review! I have been thinking about which between the bowers 707s2 or the kef ls50. Glad you compared them and just torn. Sounds like you recommend the 707. Does the Kef beat them any any category? I do look the look of the ls50. Thanks again
I have the 705 S2. Get the 707s you will not be disappointed.
My 607's aren't bright try different speaker cables..I use DH Lab's T-14 and bi amp them. If you want something warmer try Audience Ohno III speaker cables & Dh Labs has a good set of jumper cables you can get for $75...You got to get rid of that nasty brass binding post
Thank you. Excellent job . Great English.
Love your content
It is not how much better I get for my money. It’s just if it sounds better to my ear and I can afford it, then I will always take the one I prefer more.
I do not expect that B&W will make speaker that costs 1200 and sounds exactly two times better then 600 one.
I expect B&W to make both speakers great, and my ear and budget will be the judge what I will buy.
Excellent comparison!
Would you advise to use them as Top Front speakers (like for Atmos setup)? As B&W doesn't have specific Atmos speakers I though to use a pair of these 607 S2 for that...
Excellent presentation.
Amazing video as always buddy.
It's a misnomer to refer to these speakers as monitors because they are passive not active speakers, the latter of which have their amplification units built directly into them. Excellent review though !
In fact you’re completely mistaken, there is no criteria for monitors to be active, not only so, but the high end to ”studio reference ” border is a pretty blurred. Pretty much comes down to studio settings prefering near-mid field and those have with time embraced active amplification, which might be considered industry standard, but not by definition.
@@whitelotus_zero I'm referring to a specific speaker. This is not a generalization.
There's no requirement that a monitor needs to be active. Its irrelevant. Also, you need to define active. In home audio, a speaker is considered active if it has a built in amplifier. For studio applications, active refers to the xover. And yes, I know you can find some examples that contradict this, but its not the norm.
do you still have bowers 707? Id love to see a new update to this video but with the anniversary edition 607's which are supposed to be improved and might be closer to 707 now?
I have 706 S2.
@@Tharbamar oops i mixed them up thats what I meant. would love it if you did a video on new 606 anniversary edition vs your 706 s2.
Compare them with Buchardt S400.
These bugdet speakers, you can't compare
LALAT_IDJO Ackchually, you can compare
Is there no difference in the midrange between thoose two? Because you said the 707 has the better look and better tweeter. The B&W 700 Series is in the price range of Monitor Audio Gold Series, Dali Rubicon Series usw so I would wonder if the difference is only in midrange.
So I bought a pair of the 606 which has a larger mid driver. Picked it in white but thinking about sending them back for matte black or going all in on the piano black 702... my concern besides price is whether my marantz 7013 can power the 702?
You can get the kef ls50 for 666 eur. I bought them and iam super happy.
I understand that you can not compare this, but what do you say about B&W 606 vs B&W CM8. And what do you think about B&W CM8 ???
Great video. Recommended amplifiers to cope with the brightness?
Marantz, Yamaha or Denon will do, by the way Denon amps are designed with TOL B&W and Dali speakers.
That's a bad idea. Never buy a component that needs to be "fixed" by others. Find a speaker that doesn't need to be fixed, and build a system around that.
Nice review of these desirable B&W speakers. The 607’s offer good value for money, but I understand you liking the nice cabinet workmanship and better tweeter on the 706. In between these are the 606’s which have a 6.5 inch woofer and an efficiency of 88dB compared with the lower 84dB of the 607’s. Do you have any knowledge or experience of the 606’s Tharbamar ?
Arthur Crosby I too would like to know this
Same
@@CriPPleR_HD I had 606, not bad but personally felt a lack of low down punch. Personally I wasn't completely convinced these were what I was after.
Hi Tharbamar, i am new and i really like a pair of bw 606 or 607 for music listen, can you suggest the best medium amplifier for these speakers ? How about the Denon AMP or Yamaha AS...? Tks
What's your thoughts 606 vs 707 series 3?
If I buy 2 paie of B&w 607 and htm6 and a sub pairing with Marantz 5014. Would it be good for home theater for movie and music? For the amount I spend for these, do you think there’s a better choice? Would really appreciate your comment!
I have a pair of B&W 805N in mint condition despite hers age... I'm very curious about this battle 805N vs 707s2... Any Ideia if it would be a downgrade, sidegrade or upgrade? Tks mann
im going to get the 606, listened to them for a few hours and the midrange is impressive.
djaxe32 did you hear the 607?
606 is more balanced sounding than 607.
@@davidharrelson hi, no i've only had the 606 for a short while to test. Compared them to other speakers from Klipsch and Dali and the B&W sounded more refined than any of those. Just ordered a pair for myself, dont think theres anything better you can get for the price.
Great review, thanks.
Very nice. You are the best. Please someone let me know amplifier suitable for it to get its quality of sound
Hello, is it ok to have the 707 s2 for the front and the 607 as rear speakers +htm6 center? Do they sound similar? Thank you
It will totally be fine, thanks
Thanks . I prefer the 607's I've always wondered in your previous videos you have managed to get your spl meter on your flat panel tv and I've been looking for something that will help me monitor my spl on my flat panel tv if you would be so kind to point me in the right direction that would be a big help
I was using DB X app via Apple TV.
Hi~I just wondering what's the better compare with 707s2 and 606 based on the similar price?
700 series have better tweeters. a little more easier on ears.
how about the bowers 606 with a 6.5 woofer
Percentage wise bass difference 607 vs 707s2
How far off 607 is from 6.5” bass wise
Tharbamar what about the 706 s2 ?? It’s a better speaker ??
Yes, 706 S2 and 705 S2 are in different league.
Any recommendation on the speakers within 1000 $, --- to upgrade from a pair of JBL 305....
Excellent review!
Please recommend a good value type receiver/amp for the 607s.
Hi, when you have decided to go for B&W, better don't compromise on AVR, I personally felt these speakers are giving great output from any one of these four Marantz avr: 5015, 6015, 7015 / 8015. 5015 should be good enough for medium sized room and it delivers a GREAT sound from these B&W 600 anniversary edition series. - This is my personal opinion based on experience. There could be other better options too, if you come to know / already did some research please share it. Thanks..
Thanks again good review's comparison ! But I'd love to put my 300 watt amp on them lol see those dynamics make those speakers jump out of the box and dance ! lol
they can handle a max of 100 watts, read specs
sir, Can I pair B&W 607 to Marantz PM5005 with 40 watts per channel @ 8 ohms?
Would you know how do these compare to Martin Logan 35xt?
That piano black finish doesn't look that great. It's kind of wavy/orange peel looking. Not really a fan of the chrome rings either.
The chrome rings look terrible. I have no idea why this has become a trend, but it’s really ugly and cheap looking.
Totally agree. Even in person the 606 actually look nicer.
If my fronts are 805d3 and center is HTM2D3, would the 607 be good enough for my surrounds? The problem is the place i would put them in is quite tight and the depth size of the 707 is much deeper than the smaller 607 but the question is, can the 607 keep up with my other speakers? My room is only small at 4m x 4.5m x 2.4m height (18sqm or 1500cuft). Amp is marantz pre plus emotiva xpa6 for surrounds and atmos and rotel rmb1858 for LCR. Subs are dual PSA3611 (18").
Hi Jonathan, what did you end up with? I am in the same position of having to decide between them. Leaning to 707 just because of finish…
Some say that the B&W DM601 S3 with the by-gone Kevlar cone drivers sounds a lot better than these new 707s.
I have those in the cherry finish. I also like the fact they have “made in England” on the back. Bought em in 2001 and still sound amazing.
Hello good video👍for home theater
Bw 606 or Bw 706 ?
And ampli hc Marantz or Yamaha for sensation impact claryty ? The best for you?
Thanks
Thanks for doing this! It's good to have this as a future reference. I'm just curious how RP-600M would compare, even though they are not mini-monitors.
Can you compare the 607 and the Klipsch RP-600M?
general_alvarez those are the 2 that I am stuck between as well. I do love the forward sound profile of Klipsch.
@@Knxanalogs Thank you and more power..love your vids!
607/606 are better, the rp 600m is also a much much larger model
Wish they had yellow woofers hate the grey
Good video
¿ B&w 607 or Quad S2 ?
I still have Quad S2 but not 607.

607 great speaker lol = watch Audio Science Review first
LOL I do not care about ASR reviews for sound quality because measurements has nothing to do with actual sound quality of the speakers because those measurements never translate to actual sound in your room, measurements are for inexperienced nerds not for the people who knows what kind of sound they are after, most musical speakers never measured best.
