    Hear the story of how the Virtual Reality we know and love was born from the imagination of a 16 year old in his trailer in his parents yard.
    VR has long been the dream of enthusiasts across the world but the

    I was in middle school when I first heard of Oculus from a friend. I searched it up and immediately became obsessed and bought the first dev kit. The amounts of fun my family and I had in that thing built so many memories. Just returning back to vr after a long time and it’s nice to see how far Oculus has come although it is a bit disheartening to see some of the original staff leave Meta. Nonetheless FB seems so invested in vr but they’re the last company I ever thought would dominate the market

    Great vid! I knew the general gist of things, but there were some little details you mentioned that I'd never heard about.

    ...I was curious about the Quest since VRChat got flooded with Quest users earlier in the year and this was a good documentary.

    Brilliant! you're truly genius I've watched the video without the blink of my eye. But confused why you're so underrated. Hope you gain lots of love and engagements much sooner. Looking for more such content...

    21:28 why refer to Index as "infamous"? Do you know what that word means?

    • @RushReality
      @RushReality  2 года назад +1

      Possibly a poor choice of words as I’m rambling on, am a big fan of index and valve over all as likely came across in the video.

    Really disappointing to keep seeing people refer to the Virtual Boy as VR, when it has less in common with VR than the 3DS.

      As a head mounted device for gaming, I see it as a key step on the road to virtual reality though not the destination itself.

    Great man invents something but falls afoul of the political groupthink and is banished to the gulag. Sounds like just another story of from the old USSR. Now these kinds of stories are a fixture of American life, too.

    God damn... Bit of a bummer that such a smart guy like Palmer Lucky decided to do a kinda clowny move like that with the Trump stuff. Just... Urgh for goodness sake.
    Why would you shoot yourself in the foot like that??? You're a smart man Palmer Lucky you're better than that. Just... Yeah... Why would you do that dude...

    • @RushReality

      It’s a crazy twist in the story, makes you wonder what things would look like if he hadn’t.

      @@RushReality Yeah I... REALLY did not see that one coming. It makes me a bit sad in a way because Palmer is VERY smart and I'm loving my Oculus Quest 2 I just got today but like... As a trans woman I can't help but feel like I have that nagging feeling in my mind of "The guy who made this tech in the first place might actually hate people like me" and that's just... A real bummer and all.
      In general this is why getting involved politically when you're a big CEO is often a TERRIBLE idea because... Yeah

      @@AstralPhnx ah Palmer may have set the wheel in motion with the early gear but the Quest 2 is the work of many people. I know he distanced himself from Trumps views a lot down the line. But who knows where someone stands really. I suppose when you disagree with someone’s views, you have to try and remove the person from the picture and just view their work.
