    I’m 65 and started taking Magnesium Glycinate for the first time last night, a brand from Costco called Nature’s Bounty. I don’t know if it is chelated or not. Anyway my first night’s experience was great, I slept better than I have for a while. I’m hoping this helps my insomnia in the long term.

      I am taking Magatech Magnesium, which contains Magnesium L - Theonate, Magnesium Glycinate, Magnesium Taurate. While it does create looser bowels, it does not give me diarrhea. I take it to help with high blood pressure, and for better sleep. For sleep, it has been helpful. So far, this Magesium supplement has worked the best for me. I take 2 capsules a day, but it is recommended to take 3 capsules.

    I take Magnesium Bisglycinate made by Canadian company Jadin Nutraceuticals because it is the only one I have been able to find that doesn't have magnesium stearate, which is a flow agent that is hard on the liver. Hi Dr Kim, I am 71 and have had High Blood pressure diagnosed about 30 years ago. I take medication every day but my readings are ridiculously high especially at night when I am resting e.g. 180 over 90 and sometimes scarily higher. I started taking a Magnesium blend of Glycinate, Citrate, Laureate, Malate, Rotate and Lactate providing Elemental Magnesium. In the same capsule there is Viamin B6, Zinc and VitaminD3. My BP reading tonight was 120 over 79. I occasionally get some high readings still but I have never had low readings like these at night until I started taking this supplement. Just astonishing. I take one capsule of Vitabright (British company) Magnesium 6 in 1 Complex every day.

    Excellent analysis Dr Kim. To reply to your question I take a locally (New Zealand) formulated Magnesium containing 40mg from Aqua Marine, 24mg from Glycinate and 40mg from Citrate giving total Mg per capsule of 104mg. We take 3 of these a day along with 4000iu of Vit D3. This is during our winter. We also take Bromine, NAC, Astaxantha, Doctors Best brand 2000FU Nattokinase, 1500mcg Vit B12, 90mg Vit K2. Been taking these almost since the start of the pandemic. We both take the Magnesium about an hour before bed. The D3 we take first thing in the morning about an hour before breakfast or coffee. Never felt better in my 77 years. We are also vaccinated without any side effects from the vaccine except perhaps to say we haven't had Covid or any seasonal flu or illness for years. So not just one brand to recommend other than a lot of amateur research and trying different combos. This seems to be working for us.

    • @tonyp1340
      @tonyp1340 20 дней назад

      @@arobbo3153 The brand I take is a New Zealand one, Sandersons Practitioner Series. It's a tiny capsulated pill in oil. Most, if not all VitD3 Ive looked at are 1000iu capsules or tablets.
      Depending on the time of year, seasonally, I take different amounts. Maybe 4000-6000iu in winter when we don't get much 'D' from the sun. Not so much now in the summer.
      Yes, I use an old jar lid to put my doses in each morning. This morning there were 8 items in the lid. Some I take with my food, others I wash down with water after eating while still at the table. IMO you cant really take too much vitamin D3. (Well of course you could being silly, I don't think your body would thank you for taking say, 40,000iu regularly. And regardless of the amount, one should be conscious of taking Magnesium (Citrate and Glycinate and I suggest with an aqua marine source. Usually sold as magnesium triple). D3 will affect the mount of Magnesium available in ones system, needed to keep your bones healthy. I also take an extra Astaxanthin at lunch with food.
      Hope all that helps 😀
      I should add this works for me, I have no qualifications to advise anyone else. Do your research and only buy the best. Also check mfg dates etc. Especially oils. They can be rancid and not worth taking.

      I've read in a few places (forgot the exact sources, but they seemed knowledgeable) that Magnesium Sulfate is a good form to use when taking an Epsom Salt Bath. (i.e., soaking in it, in order to absorb transdermally). Sally K. Norton, for example, recommends this recipe: 2 cups of high quality Magnesium Sulfate, plus 1/2 cup Baking Soda, plus 1/2 cup Potassium Bicarbonate - dissolved into a warm bath. Then soaking for 20 minutes. 30 minutes at most. As a way to transdermally get more than one healthy mineral into one's body, more efficiently, compared to just orally ingesting various healthy mineral supplements. But I don't know if the absorption rate, transdermally, of the different possible forms of Epsom Salt Bath magnesiums, differs significantly. In other words, the "efficiency" of bodily absorption. Also, I've read elsewhere that Chloride is an important mineral, which the body can well make use of. Not sure of the comparative benefits -- based on the idea of "which mineral is more likely to be deficient?" Sulfate vs. Chloride, etc. I don't know if I've ever seen a presentation on supplemental magnesium that goes into that level of detail (RE: epsom salt baths, that is, and which brands and forms are likely to be best ... for different people's health conditions.)

    Magnesium glycinate, a highly absorbable form of magnesium, offers numerous benefits. It can improve sleep quality, reduce anxiety and stress, alleviate constipation and other digestive issues, and decrease PMS symptoms. Additionally, magnesium glycinate supports heart health, bone density, and muscle function while potentially lowering the risk of migraines and chronic pain.

      Thanks for sharing such detailed (and specific) information :) I've read also, somewhere, that Magnesium Glycinate (when ingested orally, as a supplement) will result in magnesium levels in the body (i.e., blood, and/or bodily tissues) of significantly longer duration, as compared with ingesting other forms of magnesium. In other words, it will "last longer". Thus, it is a preferred form, if a a person wants to have consistently higher levels of Mg remaining in their body - over time. Rather than having "peaks", or spikes, of elevated Mg levels, which reduce or dissipate more rapidly, and fall into suboptimal levels if a person forgets to supplement (orally ingest) frequently enough, in order to keep those levels elevated - and the supply of bio-available Magnesium plentiful. At all times, or at least during the most important times.
      All of this is presuming, on my part, that Mg acts something like a "water soluble" vitamin, and doesn't get stored by the body very well. Such as fat soluble vitamins do (for example) making the timing and frequency of their intake less important -- as compared to the water soluble vitamins, which need to be taken more frequently if a person wants to maintain optimal (or better) levels of them.

    Thank you for this video. As i was taking vit d3. When i saw Dr Berg's video he explained how d3 bonds to protiens and wont seperate to become effective without magnesium glycinate. He mentioned dosage amounts that are higher than reccomended by established papers. But it seems there are reasons for that that are more buisness than medical. Can you discuss effective and ineffective dosage?As the companies all play games with words, and UI and mgl and equivalents of dosages.No one thats an MD will touch this and it seems to be very important. And the supplement companies know this and use it to sell 240 pills bu t to get a true months effective supply you need like 6 or 8 pills a day. Its all very confusing.
