- Hi! & Welcome back to Dolli Crafter! It’s been a little while (not intended). Between my passions and this channel lay real life aaaaannnnnnnnnnddddddddd sometimes life can be a jerk, BUT! I’m very excited to finally bring you Josie!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve literally been dyyyyyyyiiiinnnngggg to show her to you :) I hope that despite the setbacks I had for this one, you love her anyway!!

So pretty!!!!!!! Ok, but hear me out. I know an exploded face was less than ideal for the practice head....but Halloween is quickly upon us....and she's really only a few apoxie-sculpted scars away from being a creepy broken porcelain/discarded doll character~ Just a thought! Props to you for overcoming all the many obstacles, both artistic and from the weather, and maintaining a good attitude (on camera at least). That face up is GORGEOUS and a testiment to your will to overcome~

Hey don't feel so bad-there have been a lot of customizers who tried to wing it with the acetone head-shrinking. It's just one of those things that comes with practice-I know that the head getting supper big and soft IS what's suppose to happen-then air drying will shrink it.
It definitely was worth all the difficulties in the end. Josie looks stunning!
Thank You! The head splitting to pieces was very scary but I think I can still salvage it lol we’ll see. But hopefully next time will be a lot easier.

@@DolliCrafter lol It'll be our little secret! It's alright that we didn't get to see the whole process. We got to see most of it and got to follow along with your learning process at least. The learning process is actually what I'm most interested in. Also, I can't wait to see that large Rainbow High when it comes out. I hope you'll be able to get one and costomize her. Whatever you come up with for her will be epic!
I have a few tips! Firstly, when it comes to inset eyes, it's a lot easier to start with a small hole and slowly shave off more and more of the vinyl until you have the shape and size you want c: oh and if you want a different eyeshape just draw some guide lines with either a marker or a pencil, children's washable markers are super helpful for guidelines :3
As for head shrinking, I tend to do the slow method which is when you mix acetone with water and leave the doll for a day or two, sometimes more and doing that helps prevent cracking uwu

Don’t feel bad, in hind sight it’s kind of ridiculous how many things went wrong. I choose to look at it as comical at this point lol

Wow I love ur transparent personality!!! Some advice on inset eyes: when cutting the holes, DONT start at the edge, start inside the pupil and work your way out to the edge

One tip for cutting eye holes -- the vinyl has to be SUPER hot. Like barely hot enough to hold. I wear gloves while doing it, you want to ideally do the cut in fewer smooth motions than a series of short stiff cuts.

i just want to say i really appreciate you showing all the problems you had with your practice doll, it's really reassuring to see someone else going through these annoying failures. cutting eyes is so hard, im glad to see someone else struggling with it to be honest lol, i've ruined a couple of dolls in the process. you did an amazing job with them in the end though!

Not even a doll customizer or even knew there was stronger acetone and had fear as soon as you said "homedepot" and "industrial acetone" when the head went into that cup. My face was full of terror. RIP maddie hatter. Lol I look forward to seeing how you salvage that head. I think it can be done.

Best thing to do with the eyes is cutting them out smaller than you want and then cleaning them up.

I had the exact same thing happen to my first attempt to shrink a head, that was yesterday. it fell to bit's; I didn't try to save it, your much more optimistic than I am.

I'm planning on doing a rainbow high doll repaint soon.... so I'm SO GLAD I found this video. It'll help me make her horns as far as placement (so so sad I couldn't see the process for her and hope your're doing well now!) and I LOVE LOVE LOVE lowering her eyes a bit with epoxy sculpt- I never thought of that!! Thanks for struggling so the rest of us can learn from your mistakes haha She turned out GORGEOUS. THAT FACE. Her LIPS are my absolute favorite!

I am sure someone else told you by now, but the normal acetone would have worked just fine as well...the ever after high head was just too damaged prior the acetone bath to survive such a harsh chemical..

Doll is beautiful although I think I would go with your first pick when comes to head. Doll would have a bit more normal proportion. But that's my aesthetic :D
You’re right with the proportions in reference to the damaged head but I was going for the rainbow high proportions and their heads are a bit larger. I do however think that by shrinking this head one more time would’ve been the magic sauce. 💕💕💕

I've seen others cut out the eyes by starting in the middle and slowly whittling out the shape. That could help you keep from slicing her face up lol
