2:03 instead of a 240 volt line, you can install two out of phase 120 volt outlets. Well, you just need one because you already have one there. So if HOA allows a 110 volt line, just wire in an out of phase outlet. They sell adapters that can plug into these two outlets to get 240 volts.

I agree, the 2 miles for every mile is not bad at all (especially compared to your old car!) Glad you're loving the Model 3, I do too, best car I've ever owned!
@@ThatTeslaChannel I've found different ratios regarding how fast charging dissipates while driving. I just finished a couple of trips more than 1,000 miles each. I take notes at each charge of how full the battery is at the start, and at the next charge, as well as the distance I've driven between each charge. I also note conditions. Going 75 mph uses more battery, just as a gas-powered car uses more gas at higher speed. Hot days mean A/C--again, more battery. Going up into the mountains means more battery as well.usage
Range on highways is actually more compared to streets. I am saying as an owner of a Model S. You need to learn how to drive and use energy while being fast on highways.
Yes i have a question, If you compare it with an other car like BMW or a Porsche or a Toyota. Which one Tesla is closer from the point of view of quality( interior and generally) and the way it runs and the steering .
Excellent question! I'd say quality of a toyota, handling of a bmw, reliability is in a class of it's own due to the electric motors. Porsche handling is in a class of it's own as well, I wish I could say Tesla's handle as well as Porsches but it's just not true, Porsches are built for a track.
In honesty though, I thought this would be a feature considering each new driver profile has it's own custom seat configurations but they have to be set from the previous driver profile's configurations. There should be a way to set a new driver profile and start your seat configurations from "Standard".

In time, superchargers will replace gas stations. If its 4 miles per hour, that means you will get 32 miles to drive by morning. If you drive 20 miles each day to work and back. You will slowly gain 12 miles left over per day, by the end of the week you'll have 80 miles extra from your outlet.
Agreed. Yes, the 120v outlet works when I'm just driving around the area and not doing any extra driving than normal. The biggest time I notice it is when I come back from a 100 mile drive or so and it takes a few days to get back to full charge.
@@ThatTeslaChannel well, its just your situation on where you live. If Ev vehicles keep rising, you can assume there will be a supercharger near you soon.
No they won't. There are over 500,000 gas stations in just north america. Tesla has 24,000 charge stations, 12,000 are in califorina..... Come to Canada and have fun finding a supercharge station. I live in Vancouver, we have over 1,500 gas stations here. We have, 150 super charge stations, in ALL of Canada. "b-b-b-b-b-b-ut just charge it at home!" .... Bruh, I can charge my cell phone to 100% and it will still die during the day, you think everyone has time to wait at a charge station for an hour if they go on a road trip? No thanks. I can fill my tank in
Question I rent a room, not in an apartment in a house it’s just me, got my own restroom and everything but I don’t have a garage space if I were to buy a Tesla would I have to charge it other locations everyday??
Just got mine and I love that silent whir. I have the base model, 250 miles at 90% charge, and I feel like I might get 210. I super charge every day as I Uber in my car everyday, my apartment has a trickle charge, but it’s pointless. With the seat, I almost crushed a passengers foot, I’d hit my easy entrance profile accidentally and the seat went flat to the floor, and drop on em! They need some type of of connection between the seat pressure sensor and the seat controls. I’m looking at an S, I need more space.
It's in the menu settings, I cant remember which page, but it's at the bottom of one of the pages. Just a simple toggle switch to turn it on. When enabled, it cools the interior of your car automatically when it reaches anything over 105 degrees fahrenheit :)
Maybe I'm confused, but I didn't really understand the seat part. You want the seat to go back to the same way it was from factory? Can you not just adjust to your liking?

I don't understand the seat one... 1. Find a position you like 2. If you don't like it, hit the cancel button next to the save button on the profile 3. If you do like it, hit the save button Are you saying you hit save button even though you didn't like the position? I'm confused.

Just did a test drive with the model 3, I LOVED it. I really underestimated everything it can do. The acceleration is insane, and the speakers are next level. I’m for sure gonna buy a model 3
Right on! I agree.. There's no way of fully understanding until you drive it yourself. And the kicker is: by driving a Tesla, you are also helping to save the world by reducing carbon output and fossil fuel usage.. Win win!
I think the $100+ price tag has to do with the fact that they are coming out to your house to do it. If you go to a tire shop, it's only about $20-30. I hope that helps!
Wish I did that.... I highly recommend doing that right when you take delivery, assuming they haven't changed the position while prepping the car for delivery.
So if you have a standard outlet in your garage & but the $500 charger on the Tesla website, is that okay? Or do you NEED to upgrade your outlet as well?
Wow! Great info, I might be pulling the trigger on a tesla , summer of 2021, AWD , Dual motor, I do have 240Volts and Solar Panels, My worries are at being stuck with an expensive repair bills, waiting long for parts, down time, Insurance premiums, Thank you
I got a model Y 2 weeks ago and traded in a BMW 5 series. My insurance went down slightly. You should be able to get a quote now to see what the difference will be. The repair bills should be much less than with any ICE vehicle. I traded in because I was facing $4000 in work. I only expect to need tires, fewer brake pads, and possibly some suspension work way down the road. No oil changes, no engine or transmission repairs etc.
1) real problem 2) why is that a problem if you have driver profile settings 3) you gotta do research on your space before you buy cmon man 4) how did you not know the electric cars are silent? 5) good to know 6) BEST TIP 7) great!
Nice! Just to add some clarity on #2, I recommend making a default seat setting when you pick up your car at delivery. Once you start customizing seat profiles, there is no way to go back to 'default'. I didn't realize this was a problem until I couldn't seem to find a seat position that wouldn't hurt my back. Anyways, hopefully that can save you some trouble if it's applicable!
@@ThatTeslaChannel so what’s the diff between default seat position + making a driver profile? I guess find something you like then make a profile is my thinking but i could be wrong

I was thinking about purchasing a Tesla model threeI am debating between the long range and the performance do you have any recommendation on which one is a better value
Great question! My friend has a LR AWD with acceleration boost and I have a Performance "Stealth". He has said many times that he would pay to get the 0-60 acceleration speed of mine. With that said, if the performance (or stealth performance) is in your budget, I would go with that one so you don't kick yourself later. My stealth was about $51k (in between the LR AWD and the Performance). I hope that helps!
@@ThatTeslaChannel - I have a suggestion to all new Model 3 owners from now on. As soon as you get your new car, do not adjust the seat settings and immediately create a driver profile called “seat default”. And hey presto, you’ll always be able to go back !!
Ceramic coating provides no actual impact protection. Get a front clear bra or PPF. If you’re concerned about paint, that’s really the only way to do it.
Did he really just complain about about not knowing that an electric car is silent? You almost lost me with the "when I plug into my garage" but saying you didnt know that electric are quiet was more than enough.
He didn’t say he didn’t know, he said he misses the engine sound. this literally the #1 thing that most people miss, the sound and vibration of the engine,
@@ThatTeslaChannel lmao and by the way, this is exactly why the future is 100% electric (most of it Tesla). Those are the only things typical buyers will ever look at and care about when making a quick purchase decision.
Listen, most of these issues are things that won’t arise until you live with the car in your personal situation, and can’t really be figured out by doing research. Even answers you find online can always be different for you when you buy it. Don’t be hating on him. I don’t blame him for caring about the 0-60 time, that’s one of the biggest selling points for getting a Tesla.
I’m looking at a model 3 performance, but I’m not sure if I can get over the fact that there’s no engine noise. Are there any car enthusiasts who switched to this car who can speak on this, and how much of an issue is this if any?
I 100% agree, and I'm definitely in the small batch of people like yourself that love the engine sound..Hard accelerations, downshifts, exhaust burbles...absolutely love them. At first, I did not care at all that the Tesla was silent because the car smokes anything you line up against at a red light (the instant power is like nothing else, even my friend with a 1200hp corvette said the Model 3 Performance 0-60 is like nothing he's ever felt). Then after about 8 months, I missed the engine noise again. Then surprising after a few more months, currently, I now love not having engine noise in this car. As a daily driver, I don't have any issue that the car is silent (it's performance and reliability outweigh any missing of engine sound). I hope that helps you decide!
Wait can anyone please help so understanding the last point I shouldn’t get the full auto pilot for like 10k in my order but wait and get it as an upgrade ?
Hi Paul, thanks for asking! It's less of an issue and more of something to be aware of. When driving on the highway, at the speed limit, it takes more energy for the car to go 1 mile when compared to driving 45 miles per hour for example. What this translates to is if your destination is 100 miles away and you are driving on the highway, it will likely use about 200 miles of charge to get there. I hope that makes sense and helps clarify.
This might be a dumb question but I’m curious, if you buy the mid range model 3 then are you able to upgrade it to the long range or is it a separate car
Hey so I’m thinking about buying a Tesla but I live in a apartment building would you recommend primarily charging the Tesla at the charging stationss?
I know someone who does this with a standard range model 3. The supercharger is about 15 minutes from his apartment. He just adapted to filling up when he needs it and it works for him. With a longer range Tesla, and if you are reasonably close to a supercharger, I think you could pull it off.
I've never heard of a house having only 110V electrical service coming from the pole. Putting it simply, there are two AC 110V lines coming into your main breaker box. This means you have 220V available across (using) both lines. If you have an electric stove, or electric clothes dryer, they're using 220V. Of course, I don't know your house and maybe you could have a very odd arrangement. Are you really sure you don't have the typical electric service coming into your home?
Yes, you are correct there is absolutely 240v in the home. The issue with this home is the breaker box is upstairs and the garage is downstairs and it's not just a straight shot to run the line. The HOA doesn't want people running lines through other peoples homes (downstairs unit).
anghelos._.diamant 220v in US is different than 220v in other countries. Here in America it is duel phase, which is basically two 110v lines put together. Elsewhere it is single phase, which is one 220v. A regular household 220v line will not give you max charging speeds unless it can handle a high amperage. You should consult with an electrician to see what you have and might need.
I'm getting mine installed this week for $250! A good friend of mine is an electrician and she said if anyone charges more than that, or takes more than 2 hours to install it, you're getting scammed. I'm not an electrician but I trust her haha :)
I don't think there's a single manufacturer that will let you bring the seat back to it's factory position. Hell the pdi tech and the detail porter will likely place the seat in gangster position, before repositioned by the sales person.
Really helpful video. I live in South Florida and it's hot as hell down here. I'm dumping my BMW convertible because it's just too damn hot when parked outside in the sun. In general, would you say that Tesla Model 3 is significantly hotter than the average car? I like the idea of an electric car for ecological reasons, but I might go for a BMW 330e hybrid instead.
Hey great question! I live in FL too and the heat in thee summer is brutal on cars. I'm happy to answer this question though because the Tesla has a setting called cabin overheat protection that turns the AC on in the car to cool it down inside if it senses that the interior has risen above 105 degrees. Excellent feature that makes a noticeable difference in FL heat. Highly recommended!
The claim of 40 mph on 240v only works with a 3-phase 240v (3x16~20Amp/240v = 11kw), not on a single-phase 240v where you talk about. With that setup you only get 3,7kw, so around 13mph range (instead of the 4mph). Still 3x faster.. but not 10x faster ;-)
@@ThatTeslaChannel your welcome... last week I needed to charging at a remote location in Germany with only a single 240v outlet. It took me 30 hours to charge from 125 to 300 miles range. So I only got around 6mph on 240v.. :-(
Hey, loved your video, I have a question, I’m confused on the seat part like many others, all the cars I’ve ever been in never had an option to go say a “factory” setting for the seat, you just play around until you find a position you like and then save it. Can you clarify?
Sure! It all started when I thought I found a comfortable position and saved the profile. Then after driving for an hour, it was hurting my back. There is no way to go back to how I previously had it. It starts the cycle of changing, saving, changing, saving, etc. but there is no way to just "Start from standard position".
@@ThatTeslaChannel You know, now that I think about it... what's the standard position? Does it make sense for Tesla to store a "position" that's completely arbitrary? I'm starting to understand why this isn't a thing. Because there is no "standard position" until you make the first one.
The only reason I haven't bought a Model 3 is the price, but with the $25K coming in 2023, I'll happily wait and save for a large enough downpayment to make the monthly payment fit my budget (stupid student loans are going to get in the way starting 2021)
Nice plan! Agreed, that price point will be a great way to get into a Tesla. You may be able to find a used Model 3 before then for the same price. Seeing that these cars are rated at 300k miles and up, buying a used Tesla potentially comes with a lot less risk than an ICE vehicle.
Is a tire rotation on a Tesla different from every other car? I would NEVER pay someone to do a tire rotation, it is so simple if you have the right tools
That Tesla Channel Just because it doesnt take no more than 20 minutes to get all the tools out, do the rotation, and out the tools away, I couldn’t justify it. But I’m the one watching RUclips videos while you are growing your business so what do I know
Anyone have any idea how accurate the Tesla delivery times are? I ordered a Model 3 LR, but I did the financing a bit early because I didn’t realize what I was doing. If it comes during the delivery spread, I’ll be fine, but if it’s at the end or late I’ll have to reapply for a loan.
Greg, if only you could've watched your own video in your future, because you would've learned quite a lot! I watched every possible RUclips video that I could find so that I would not have any surprises. Some of us are a lot more mechanical than others and we would not be surprised by some of the things that you talked about. I understand that it is really difficult when you have do deal with an HOA and all of the rules that go along with it. I am fortunate to have my circuit breakers in my private garage and that there was space for a 50 amp breaker to install a NEMA14-50 outlet. Sometimes if you have a washer and a gas dryer in your garage you can buy a box that combines them into a 240 volt 20 amp outlet. You can utilize any two out of phase 120 volt outlets to make a 240 volt 15 amp outlet. Tesla sells an adapter for every one of those and more.
I'm glad it helped your decision but I'd still highly recommend test driving one. No cost, no risk, just to get your hands on it and feel it. Although there are small issues here and there, I'd still buy it all over again :)

Ya lost me at trying to “factory reset” the seat... don’t forget to check your blinker fluid lol
lol they do oil changes at the shop around the corner for $60 and it only takes 2 minutes too!
In honesty though, I thought this would be a feature considering each new driver profile has it's own custom seat configurations but they have to be set from the previous driver profile's configurations. There should be a way to set a new driver profile and start your seat configurations from "Standard".
@@ThatTeslaChannel why
It all started when I thought I found a comfortable position and saved the profile. Then after driving for an hour, it was hurting my back. There is no way to go back to how I previously had it. It starts the cycle of changing, saving, changing, saving, etc. but there is no way to just "Start from standard position".
@@ThatTeslaChannel I guess I'm not the only one that has had this issue.

Right on! Model X would be and insane Uber.... just saying! Anyways, I agree with all of that. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
Do u recommend a PPF or just ceramic will be good enough?
PPF is the best you can get for bugs/rocks. It offers more protection than ceramic coating. I meant to say that in the video actually (face palm).
What maintenance, other than tire rotation?
What’s overheat protection? I can’t find it anywhere.
It all started when I thought I found a comfortable position and saved the profile. Then after driving for an hour, it was hurting my back. There is no way to go back to how I previously had it. It starts the cycle of changing, saving, changing, saving, etc. but there is no way to just "Start from standard position".
@@ThatTeslaChannel I understand now. Thank you for clarifying!
I don't understand the seat one...
1. Find a position you like
2. If you don't like it, hit the cancel button next to the save button on the profile
3. If you do like it, hit the save button
Are you saying you hit save button even though you didn't like the position?
I'm confused.
Yes, it all started when I thought I found a comfortable position and saved the profile. Then after driving for an hour, it was hurting my back. Now there is no way to go back. It starts the cycle of changing, saving, changing, saving, etc. but there is no way to just "Start from standard position".
What type of wheels are on your model 3?
Just did a test drive with the model 3, I LOVED it. I really underestimated everything it can do. The acceleration is insane, and the speakers are next level. I’m for sure gonna buy a model 3
Right on! I agree.. There's no way of fully understanding until you drive it yourself. And the kicker is: by driving a Tesla, you are also helping to save the world by reducing carbon output and fossil fuel usage.. Win win!
@@ThatTeslaChannel exactly, since I live in California, we can get an incentive for buying an electric vehicle.
Is it really normally $100+ for tire rotation? Do they need a special jack or something.
I think the $100+ price tag has to do with the fact that they are coming out to your house to do it. If you go to a tire shop, it's only about $20-30. I hope that helps!
@@ThatTeslaChannel it helps, but that is a hell of a convenience fee.
Can you not make a driver profile at the home postion (default) and then start customizing it
Wish I did that.... I highly recommend doing that right when you take delivery, assuming they haven't changed the position while prepping the car for delivery.
So if you have a standard outlet in your garage & but the $500 charger on the Tesla website, is that okay? Or do you NEED to upgrade your outlet as well?
Hey Keshon, Great question! You would need to upgrade the outlet to get the full 240 power. I hope that helps!
Id recommend adding time stamps to your videos, will totally make the RUclips algorithm happy, and me. :)
I'm planning to buy a tesla once I have a house with a garage. Living your vids

1) real problem
2) why is that a problem if you have driver profile settings
3) you gotta do research on your space before you buy cmon man
4) how did you not know the electric cars are silent?
5) good to know
6) BEST TIP
7) great!

Not so much a ceramic coat but a Paint Protection Film you mean?
Yes exactly. I tried to correct that so thank you for asking for clarification. PPF is the best!
Do you have an electric dryer?
I do, but it's upstairs and my garage is downstairs (so I don't have the 240 line down there). Good thought though!
I hope that helps!
why would you want the seat to factory
I got the driver seat into a weird position and then could not remember where 'factory' was
@@ThatTeslaChannel - I have a suggestion to all new Model 3 owners from now on.
I agree 100%, I actually meant to say PPF..
Did he really just complain about about not knowing that an electric car is silent? You almost lost me with the "when I plug into my garage" but saying you didnt know that electric are quiet was more than enough.

and by the way, this is exactly why the future is 100% electric (most of it Tesla). Those are the only things typical buyers will ever look at and care about when making a quick purchase decision.
OMG, yes. So much ignorance.
Wish we have a promo in the UK for tyre rotations.
Maybe soon. If you're in the FB groups I'd just keep an eye out. It came up out of nowhere here last time. Hope you get the deal!
@@ThatTeslaChannel Thank you that helps a lot!
Great tips. I think you meant paint protection film (PPF) for the front bumper instead of ceramic coating.
Yes! Thank you!
Wait can anyone please help so understanding the last point I shouldn’t get the full auto pilot for like 10k in my order but wait and get it as an upgrade ?
Can you please explain your point about highways? Do you keep to the speed limit on highways? If so, then what is the problem?
Hi Paul, thanks for asking! It's less of an issue and more of something to be aware of. When driving on the highway, at the speed limit, it takes more energy for the car to go 1 mile when compared to driving 45 miles per hour for example. What this translates to is if your destination is 100 miles away and you are driving on the highway, it will likely use about 200 miles of charge to get there. I hope that makes sense and helps clarify.
@@ThatTeslaChannel that hurts
This might be a dumb question but I’m curious, if you buy the mid range model 3 then are you able to upgrade it to the long range or is it a separate car
It's actually a great question! They do not have the option to pay to upgrade. It's an entirely separate car. I hope that helps!
It does, thanks

Cool Rims in the thumbnail for your video, what are they?
Love my 3 SR+...Spent
Genius!
What if I have a 220V outlet since I’m in Europe. What charging speed does that give me?
Hey thanks for asking! 240v and 220v are the same thing in most cases. Your 220v may actually be 240v. Either way, is should be between 30-40mph.
That Tesla Channel thank you very much
anghelos._.diamant
220v in US is different than 220v in other countries. Here in America it is duel phase, which is basically two 110v lines put together. Elsewhere it is single phase, which is one 220v. A regular household 220v line will not give you max charging speeds unless it can handle a high amperage. You should consult with an electrician to see what you have and might need.
$300-$500 to have a 240v charger installed? I would love to know who gave you that price, cost me $1700 to have one installed.
Hey thanks for asking! One of my friends had it installed in his house for $400, that's where I got the number from. I hope that helps!
I'm getting mine installed this week for $250! A good friend of mine is an electrician and she said if anyone charges more than that, or takes more than 2 hours to install it, you're getting scammed. I'm not an electrician but I trust her haha :)

You don't have to run a new line for single phase 240. You can double up 2x 120 on a double pole breaker..... Three phase is another beast

A NEMA 14-50 ( 240 ) I get more like 30 miles per hour charge rate.
Thanks for adding that Allen!
For an electrician to come out a cheaply install a NEMA outlet is between $1k-$3k in California
Thanks Pete! That's solid info to know for everyone including myself.

Hey, loved your video, I have a question, I’m confused on the seat part like many others, all the cars I’ve ever been in never had an option to go say a “factory” setting for the seat, you just play around until you find a position you like and then save it. Can you clarify?

The only reason I haven't bought a Model 3 is the price, but with the $25K coming in 2023, I'll happily wait and save for a large enough downpayment to make the monthly payment fit my budget (stupid student loans are going to get in the way starting 2021)
Nice plan! Agreed, that price point will be a great way to get into a Tesla. You may be able to find a used Model 3 before then for the same price. Seeing that these cars are rated at 300k miles and up, buying a used Tesla potentially comes with a lot less risk than an ICE vehicle.

Yeah
I know right! That's a good setup you have, I wish my box was in my private garage as well.. Sounds like you have the perfect setup!
