- The M3 Max Macbook Pro has been nothing but amazing for me! The only question that remains is, how much better will the M4 Max be at the Apple Event in October?

You can’t chase tech. It will make you go crazy. As soon as the m4’s come out, there will be videos that say to buy the m3 or wait till the m5’s come out. There will always be something lighter, faster, etc coming in the future. It’s all Apples’ plan. Just look at the recent iPhones. There really hasn’t been a huge update lately unless you are upgrading from several models back.
It’s every companies plan. They don’t expect people to upgrade every year. The new products are for people who have either had theirs for a few years and need more power for whatever it is they’re doing, or the people who it’s been like 10 years since they’ve upgraded so it gives them options to either buy the newest or get last years model at a cheaper price. So yes, overall there always will be something better just around the corner. They don’t change drastically each year but over a few years you’ll see a difference that might be useful to you.
The only reason I’ll be waiting to see what the new m4 will bring , is because my M1 MacBook Air still rock solid
I would recommend waiting as well. Worst case, you get an M3 for cheaper once the M4’s are out.

im in the same boat. especially because ram is still 8gb on the base model smh. also I just use it for internet stuff 99.9% of the time
First of all I like to see someone giving so much effort of making in videos and they have just started.
For the first time in my life I have bought Apple Mac product, I went for M3 Pro Macbook Pro base model for the same price that I would get base model M3. ( Amazon(16% discount) & Apple prices )
Machine is top notch, I decided not to wait October because it will not be such a difference, but the price would.
I now have a very powerful machine for 5+ years and then maybe I will upgrade.

well, if your planning to use those laptops for 6-7 years. waiting is kind of important, since technology is rapidly developing.
its kinda like the M1 macs, its been while and its still effective. thus buying top end laptops now might let you have a good laptop for the next decade.
plus, if the M4 is like the M1 (revolutionary). the people who don't wait, would feel very stupid (if the price difference isn't to big)
@@rabbaniazzahra1784 sure one should take into consideration when new products are released. So I wouldn’t buy a new iPhone 10 days before a September event. But in general waiting is just a waste of time.
And I used my MB Air 11” 2014 for 10 years and I was fine. The gaps are often not that revolutionary- that’s more marketing stuff.
The M3 series is a downgrade from the M2 in some regards. I'm still working on a maxed-out 2019 MacBook Pro that is starting to struggle with some tasks. I'm waiting a few more months to get an M4 model.
a fully maxed out 14 inch MBP is literally a dream laptop. it has the best size-to-horsepower ratio of any laptops in the market. the ultimate portable workstation.

idk if u meant a m4 or m3 maxed mbp, but m4 pro and m3 pro barely has any difference to them for 99% of the users, its mainly just for people doing heavy work and use their macbooks all day every day with heavy work, if you only use tabs, a browser basically, and maybe discord app or telegram or 1 game, you will never see any difference,
Wait for M4 then buy M3 for cheap!
That’s also an option! But you’d most likely need to buy the M3 used as Apple stops production of their previous models once the new ones come out.

the 14 inch MBP is literally the most perfect laptop size and nobody can change my mind. loving mine. i wish they can make it thinner and in titanium in the future without any compromise, a 1 kilogram machine is a dream.

I'm considering getting an M3 Max MB Pro soon, to replace my Dell XPS 17 9710. The dell is still doing well, it's got a 11th or 12th gen intel i7 8 core with 64Gb Ram and 4TB of storage I upgraded myself. But Apple has a lot more pros for Music Production which is my passion/career path. I think I'm gonna get an M3 Max MBP and get the M4 Max Mac Studio next year.
Sounds like you know your needs and I would ritually agree with your choice on that!
Silly question as it all comes down to your needing and budget. As soon as M4's will be out, the new M5 will be announced ... and so on. So, the real question is: do you need a new Mac now? If the answer is yes and you find a good deal ( which is easy to find now as M4's Mac are coming) go and buy it. If you don't need one, wait. After you'll decide if the new Mac is worth the money. In my modest opinion, M4 Macs will not be a huge step from M3, since they share the same 3 nanometers design. Yes, it will be 20%??? faster than M3 in benches, but benches mean almost nothing in real life usage. That 20% that will benefit maybe 1% or less of Mac users, for 99% of users will be literally 0 increment. Yes, battery life will be better: half hour with same configuration? Let's be serious.

I’m indecisive if I should wait for the New M4 or get the M3 Pro. So, I currently don’t have a Laptop, and I am starting University this September. The Course I would be doing is Games Development. Should I wait or get the M3 Pro?
If you can, wait for the M4 lineup as I think there could be some good upgrades for the gaming side of things 👍🏼
Apple released 3 chips in matter of 2 years just to catch up with snapdragon to win the race of benchmarks with minor upgrades shows there's no point in either rushing to buy or waiting too long for buying any MacBooks , if your current mac that has m series chip fulfils your needed then its no point to buy a new one whatsoever . Apple laptops reached its peak when m1 released as it a new arm based chip which gave it a massive advantage over its competition over battery life and single core performance and cant expect such kind of a jump in near future so avoid any new rumors or leaks that suggests huge improvements over the previous generation.

I generally agree that you can't chase tech and I generally also agree with your review, with one exception. The M4's are going to boost the neural engine of the chip to outperform the M3, core counts will stay the same but M4 will be able to handle 38 TOPS (trillions of operations per second) vs 18 TOPS of the M3. This is where the real decision needs to be centered on, imo. Overall performance of an M3 vs M4 will likely be negligible but in the age of ML/AI we are in we need to pay attention as ML/AI is going to move very fast, and hardware will need to move fast with it.
I am currently looking at upgrading my 2019 Intel Macbook Pro with either the M3 or waiting for the M4 and I personally may just wait for the M4 to ensure I get the best AI hardware available to "future proof" myself as much as possible. Every major piece of software will start to embed some of ML / AI into their applications. Apple Intelligence will also leverage this specific hardware.

the new sequoia game porting tool kit looks so fucking good that im enticed to buy the m3 max. but if i buy one i’ll broke.
Don’t go in debt for a computer my friend. Not worth it. Save, work hard, and I guarantee you’ll have one soon! Maybe even an M4 Max 👍🏼
am on intel 2017 mac, which is starting to have problems when it comes to proccesing and stuff. so i am planning to get a new laptop
im currently not in a rush, so i would wait for m4 macs to compare with the m3

Anyway, heard the M3 Max runs hot and the fans are loud. However, low power mode solves the issue.
Despite being in low power mode, it still smokes the m2 max (even if M2 is not in low power mode).
Ya the fans for me haven’t come on too much. But when they do it sometimes happens when I’m not doing lots and they randomly come on lol it’s something I’m looking into.

@@TannerBiggan ya, that's because you didn't use up loads of CPU and GPU cores. Editing 8K footage might turn on the fan really loud especially if you try to playback it.
@@singaporetransport1305 I have done some 8K editing and it did turn the fans on. Did pretty well rendering it and playing it back but I’d recommend a Mac Pro if you’re doing mainly 8K editing.
My next Mac will be the one that fully supports all key technologies of Unreal Engine 5 like Nanite. Until then I am totally fine with my M1 Max. Still two to three generations later it is an awesome machine.
M1 Max still runs like a champ! Have some buddies that have it and you’re still able to do high quality 4K editing on it no problem.
I’ll buy a new MacBook once Apple finally notices what decade we are in and ups the base model to 16GB and 1TB without bumping the price. 16GB/1TB is $1000 notebook territory in 2024.
Understandable. Have to also consider how Apple utilizes their chips and other components to work together better than some other laptops with higher specs. Plus the lifetime Apple has with their products tend to outlast most other companies. But I see where you’re coming from
The 16inch does perform better on more demanding task. It wouldn't thermal throttle as fast as the 14inch.
From what I’ve heard and recently tested, you are correct!
If budget is no problem wait for M4pro max . Why? Arm v9 ISA. For regular people and semi professionals it doesnt matter though.
Those people are gonna be happy with an m1max or m2pro or m2max.
The latest and greatest is meant for people who actually use up all of its advatages.
Devs, Animators, VFX, pro grade enterprise video editing, ML.

@@Storiada I do talk about the M4 if you watch all the way through. Not to an extreme extent but just to give you an idea of what we’ve seen with the M4 chips in the iPads and what it could look like for the MacBook Pros.
@@TannerBiggan Yes I understood your point but although it's not touching in the sense of performance, how much benchmark it might cover in single core, multicore.. would you buy now.. wait for the new event, and so on. Personally, I was looking through this title to see if it's worth to buy now a M3 Max or wait until the M4 is launched. But, I understood as well your perspective, but I was a bit confused by the title in the end versus my expectation.

@@TannerBiggan If I were given a choice to go for M4 or M3 series MacBooks, I will go for M4 as it is apple's first ever n3e chip. However if I need a MacBook right now, I will go for the M3 instead.

If you're wanting to wait for the M4 MacBooks, then I'd recommend the M4 Max with at least 36gb of unified memory. I imagine the new M4 Max chips will start with a higher amount of ram then the M3's do now. If you're editing 4k footage then you'll want to go with a higher model of chip and ram since the higher quality footage will take longer to render and export on "lower end" models. Hope that helps :)

Air vs Pro. Display and Speakers justify the price differential?
It really depends if you need the better display for photo and video editing. It is a great display and the speakers are great! Unfortunately it’s a tough call but I’d say if you can upgrade to the better screen and speakers, then do it! Will not be disappointed 👍🏼

Should i wait for m4 for ml and dl workloads for college or buy m3
Depends what you’ll be doing on it at college. If what you have now is too old and not even loading basic things, the get the M3 now. But if you’re managing just fine and don’t mind waiting to get a possible whole new redesign M4 MacBook then I’d recommend that.
All based on what you need now if you can get by with what you have 👍🏼
Well I spend $2,139 on a m3 MacBook Pro space black with 512gb and 18ram paying it for 37months for editing videos probably to use it for more stuff of course and I use cap cut any recommendations for an app I don’t have to pay monthly or yearly just one payment and that’s it ? Final Cut or Davenci what ever it’s called lol let me know thanks
I would recommend Final Cut Pro. Not just because I use it but also because it’s a native Apple app so it’s more optimized for the M series of chips. If you want a free to use and a simple video editing software then use iMovie 👍🏼

No. The M2 Pro to M3 Pro Macbook Pro are great for creative work and front-end website development.
For those brand new, still using an Intel CPU Mac, or on the M1 MacBook should get the M4 Pro Macbook Pro.

@TannerBiggan I get some people are in a comfort zone and hate change, especially if it is expensive. However, Pro laptops should be viewed as investments. For those careers that I mentioned, it is immensely helpful and worth the investment.
- Drastically faster code rendering and write speeds to Github/Gitlab.
- Drastically faster video editing and return to clients or employers.
- Drastically quicker export time for photography.
- Lower electric bill because less time spent charging.
- Faster screen movement with 120hz refresh rate.

m4 vs m3 pro, they barely has any difference, when i say barely i mean if you use the m3 pro and do work on there, and then you move to the m4 you wont physically see a difference i can assure you that, same thing with m1 and m2 pro, most people barely see a difference, and the AI feature will not affect us at all, 99% of people use a browser to work, maybe 1-2 apps, if u do that you dont even need the m3 pro, a m1 pro or m2 pro can do exactly the same thing same speed and u will never see a difference, for anyone wondering, no, you dont need a m4 unless you do heavy work all day every do with heavy programs which not a lot of people do, for ur basic studying, netflix, minecraft, discord, dont even buy the m3 just get the m1 or m2, they look exactly the same on theoutside and you will never see a difference in speed and performance, dont believe me, go to the apple store and try everything urself, or just buy a m2 use it return it before 30 days and buy a m1, you will keep the m1.
I mean, I kinda need the best of the best for my Minecraft though lol
@@TannerBiggan i think u can run minecraft bette ron a m1 max than a m4 base or pro, we re talking about price here. m1 max is a strong machine, so strong infact, people dont even notice the difference when comparing it the newer models. i would not go for the m4 pro or base m4, the outside design is still gonna be the same, so they all will look identical on the outside, and performance wise, for stuff like minecraft, u can spend the same amount of money on a m4 base or m4 pro as an m1 max or m2 max and get better performance, only reason people buy m4 is because they like the feeling of having the newest tech and prob bc of all the ai stuff apple talks about, which in reality, wont make a difference at all trust me. this is kinda like the iphone lineup, best iphone is the iphone 13 pro, its so fast that all the models after that doesnt make sense, we humans cant see the performance boost, iphone 13 pro is much more valuable than all the newer iphones, but ppl still will buy the 16 pro becuase they think it will be faster and better but it rly wont be a difference for them at all, no one can spot the performance difference, same thing with the macbook lineup m1 m2 m3 and then m4. i used a m2 in secret, thought it was an m3 pro, so i scrapped buying a m3 pro and just bought the m2 pro becuase there was basically no difference in performance for the tasks i was doing, and again, pricing, m4 will not be cheap.
