Hi . Loving the (welcome to the 40's yr Club) I'm doing a Reap Scion phy to cold build; trying to mimic Pious Path with various ES mechanics. My first tool when im building a Pseudo Pious Path Scion or any build that needs, recharge or regen for ES is always The Sorrow Divine Sulphur Flask; with the recent changes this flask now regen es based on flask recovery rate instead and is amazing, on top of that i have both %life on block aswell as %Es on block on my shield (block cap here); the combo is just straight good . My scion barely move on bosses fights , so i regen a ton of both es/life when i block and standing on consecrated ground( 4%regen ) is so good.
This is great. I'm kind of new (first character to reach end game) and still have a ton of questions about the details of the game. Speaking of questions: Is the damage absorbed by ES reduced by armour? I can't find the answer.
The thing I really hate about es is all the little different wordings for all the little interactions. Like if you get zealots oath, now damage recoup works for es. If you have ghost reaver, zealots oath allows life regen to apply to es but you can't recover es, so that's just odd and what about things like ghost shroud? Is that recovery? Taking damage stops es recovery, but does that stop recovery from leech? Maybe poe2 will make more sense
Eh? Recoup works for es? Sheeeeit, that's handy. I just dropped recoup when I took chaos inoculation. But that could definitely help with my survivability. Thanks!
If you take damage to your ES there it'll be stopping your recharge which is the big benefit to it. Generally not recommended to do that though with leech/on hit you could sustain decently but usually you're just as good just getting the mana equivalents.
Does anybody know what the condition is to get the big energy shield that covers 3/4 of the health globe? I just hit 20k ES on my MFA hierophant, shield is huge now. Just wondering if anybody can confirm.
Great video. One small suggestion: Consider not using the word "implicit" to describe the built-in defenses on gear, since that word has a different meaning the game. Consider "inherent" instead.
There is another damage bypass energy shield exept chaos damage? im playing vortex shavrone aegis build. I had situation when one expedition mob kills me instantly 6 time in a row. when i was dead i had like 6k energy left. im missing something ?

What about a video that discusses what skills / supports are worth using, when you use them, when you shouldn't, when you know if a combination of skills will actually amount to something good? Aka how to not have 0 dps after coming up with a, "good idea". Lol
That would be a bunch of work 😂 i learned it by playing every different archetype of build. At one point it starts to "click" and you come up with little different ideas
If you have a way to make some of the damage bypass the shield, then it's a huge defensive boost to you as long as the shield is up. It doesn't particularly help if you got super low life. And you might want to do something about ensuring the energy shield is being maintained. However, with high armor or high evasion, you can maximize corrupted soul's effectiveness.
Great information. I would have liked you to look at the new trickster skills as they are mostly es based. The new chest piece that converts half of your life to es might have needed a comment here also. Thanks again for your time and imput its always appreciated.
hey sub in my expirience culling cna kill ES right away coz it doesnt cound ES and Life at least in expedition tha killed so many times i may have missed episodes and they fixed that... i havent play ES for some time so ican be wrong
I remember hitting 10K ES on my essence drain trickster and I had a unique that boosted my ES recharge ocurrence/rate a lot while also using wicked ward. I also leeched Es from spell dmg so it felt great. Not sure you can achieve something like that without spending an insane amount of currency anymore

The wiki has an article on ward, it's just that that article on energy shield doesn't mention ward.

Would it be viable to use EB with Mind over Matter? Considering you're stacking a decent amount of INT.

Man I can't believe I've been programmed by PoE so hard that this stood out to me as well.

There is an expedition remnant that makes monsters kill you if you have 20% life or lower. This instantly kills low life builds.

Ward is so interesting but it’s so underlooked and ignored that nobody knows how to actually make it work. Wish it was easier to fit in builds.

I feel like scaling just ES is kind of bad right now. I prefer to use it with Divine Shield or Ghost Dance in a hybrid defense build.
Solo ES is definitely bad but most defenses by themselves are. Hybrid/Layered setups are preferred these days for sure.
I use CI because I'm colorblind and it's really hard for me to see health go down. I need either no ES, or only ES.

Can you use your life to reserve with CI and 1hp?
No, they game won't let you kill yourself by reserving and it will round up to 1 life
Life reservation doesn't work with CI.
No, but if you use something like Shaveronne's wrappings to block chaos bypass, you are then free to reserve as much of your life as you like.
