Flasks are the least enjoyable part of the game for me, I always feel like I'm playing a piano and not a game. I try to automate them as soon as I can personally.
i felt the same until they are automated, then it becomes enjoyable
"use when you use a guard skill" should be interesting with the new automation gem,
you can achieve true automation without ever having to use flasks even if they run out of charges or switch zones.
With molten shell-automation, the flasks activate every 7 seconds. If charges runs out the next time molten shell activates it has the chance to trigger again.
Thumbnail makes it appear like this is a PoE 2 video
It has the League in the name and the NPC aswell.. its episode 2 so idk 😅
That never occurred to me. I'll fix it.
-skryah
It does not look like a POE 2 video @@Zizaran
16:13 - 16:19 somebody, please clip this and make it Zizaran's new subscriber alert or something 🤣🤣
I spent a few hours rolling flasks and it completely changed me going through the maps, even at Tier 1/2. It amazed me the difference the right flasks made
Players don't overlook them due to a lack of understanding their power. They are overlooked because they are annoying. The idea that you have to piano flasks for buffs rather than having them up all the time is not fun. The two button playstyle a lot of people dislike, but amplified.
No, beginners absolutely overlook their power. No idea what you're talking about.
No we don't. Nobody plays POE as their first video game. We get it. Its just annoying. Its me, I'm the new guy... so you're talking out of your behind.
@@eshannumin you're severely underestimating yourself against most people lol. Trust me
@eshannumin nah dude, beginners DEFINITELY overlook their power also there are orbs that just let you have them up all the time basically so no one has to play piano anymore anyways
@@MultiDraco999 No, you "experienced" players are just egotistical and look down on new players... You can see it all the comments of people either saying they hate flasks or "Nubs can't read dur dur." That mentality is one of the few things that holds this game back. You guys assume people new to POE couldn't possibly be capable of reading and critical thinking. I'm glad people like Ziz break it down for people who miss things, but a lot of us just realize something is annoying and that we can phase uber lab with empty flasks so we skip it.
Also after the flask changes chieftain + traitor + ruby flask was the first thing that popped up in my mind.
I remember starting thinking quicksilver flask being absolutely useless but boy i was wrong
GGG should add Horned Fishing Scarab
I know mageblood exists but I would use a flask enchantment that gave even 70 less effect of flasks but makes them permanent. It would be nice to have more consistent flask uptime on more builds.
I have issues getting into the habbit of pushing the flask buttons 😅
try to get the automatic flasks in that case, like use when flasks are full
That's because it's a terrible system. In essence, builds do everything they can to "make it go away".
One button macros, automation, required "gain flask on hit", etc.
All this because they refuse to simplify or fix a bad system.
@@mufasafalldown8401or you could view it as a problem any build needs to solve, like many others in the game. It feels good getting your flasks automated no?
@@HannieDzn it does feel good once it's gone. But it isn't the same as other "problems" I'm solving like shoring up defenses or increasing damage. I feel like I'm just engaging with this system in the game that exists for I don't know what.
All I know is they dont need 5 buttons for flasks when everyone is just scrambling for ways to not engage with the system itself.
Why not simply have one flask button with 5 "gem" slots that modify It's behavior?
@@mufasafalldown8401 That would be an okay solution perhaps, you're still losing out on more variety (and crafting) but it seems like some sort of a middle way. It's not that hard to solve your flasks though imo, you just need a some alts and a couple of baubles/instillings. I feel like you should have that doing white/yellow maps.
Super helpful, just got to endgame and trying to wrap my head around the flasks ask I come from all the ARPGs without these kind of flasks.
Is there a way to get the slides you use in the video?
Can you provide PoBs or links to the builds you showed in the vid? I so want to make that squirrel/spider build
That POE university spider build you showed off looked amazing. Can you tell me what it's called?
i always thought that it is weird that we get both power and defenses from flasks.. in every game i play it is more straight forward, gives a long during passive buff (very minimal), and is mostly to regen life or mana
having to spam flasks is a weird choice, wich is why i think people might overlook them, they need a proper overhaul, specially in preparation of PoE 2 where having 5 keys on top of combos might start to become too much
Buddy we dont have any utility flasks in poe 2
Im polish im used to using flasks
And yet you are calling yourself sober?
@@nejmus it's complicated
A flask for emergency healing is all that ARPGs need. On a cooldown, no need for charges or any of that BS. You get a heal every X seconds if you need it. Boom, done.
I hate flasks...
Yea... if they have to add stuff to automate them because people can't stand pressing them so often then there is probably a problem.
I hate hitting flasks on controller
They should tune it down to 1 vile in Poe 2 . Everyone macros them all anyways
@@CrazyRIQlooks like there is still 5 in POE2. I agree they are annoying. There should be 3 max imho.
@@CrazyRIQhow do i macro it?
No rest for the weary.
GET IN THE FLASK
this isnt a wave of conviction guide =[
Flaks are on top when it comes to what deter me from playing Poe.
It is truly baffling that such a pisspoor mechanic is still in the game, given the skill GGG have in game dev.
They are such a big part of player power too, you are forced to engage with it.
Enstilling orbs are an ok solution, but as an inexperienced player, arriving to the point where you have it set up is soooo long.
I'm confused why are flasks bad. Is it because it's too powerful and is needed for the game. Because I've used potions in other games and it has the same feeling just path of Exiles potions are stronger?
The quick answer is, "imagine a game with five important buffs that you need to keep up. Now imagine each one has a duration and cooldown of a few seconds, so you're constantly mashing those buttons."
The problem is how important flasks become. They kept power creeping flasks and even adding ascendancies whose whole point was to use flasks constantly. But doing so is very annoying.
@@quinnocent makes sense
GGG added the dumbest fucking mechanic in any game, but at least few years later they added quite expensive item so it can be automated xd
Had no idea flasks were so hated in PoE until reading these comments. I've never found them particularly annoying.
LOL piano flasks what amazing gameplay! Thankfully PoE 2 will not have this trash!
Fuck flasks.
There should only be 2-3 flask slots not 5
The traitor keystone agrees
I never used Instilling or Enkindling orbs, i just sell in bulk. I prefer to use flasks manually when I need it and just care about antifreeze mod haha
i linked this to a friend, got english as a second language and he said he couldnt tag along with the pase, so much info and you are talking so fast that he just struggled with learning anything, so even if you doin such a long video, ppl clicking this want to learn stuff and rushing it just makes it harder
Try auto subtitle
On a side note, half of what he's saying is just straight reading the picture on screen.
RUclips has replay speed options
widetime
Title should be "Why FLASKS are the most DOGSHIT design in the game"
This is probably terrible opinion but as a new player, i really dont like when the speaker is talking so quickly and the information feels rushed. I know he talks like this normally but i find it harder to learn from listening and if i have to pause the video and read, im better off googling the information.
Flasks are my least favourtie part of POE, along with the campaign slog.
Rofl I automated flasks and got a trigger wand and then I was pressing only one single button. It was engaging before with the flask rythm and casting curses on big dudes. Way too boring after. I quit.
Theres a lot off ppl on here crying about flasks like its 2017 or sum, im not sayn that poe 1 flasks system in its core is not flawed but they already gave easy solutions to that with instilling orbs or however u spell it i usally get my flasks automated pretty quick in the pass leagues with them, and in poe 2 theyre taking utility flasks out the system all together so i dont understand why ppl love coming on the internet and crying about a whole bunch of nothn
These comments got me tripping wtf.
You have base flasks and can then decide to either go for stronger effects at the expense of uptime and pianoing OR you automate them at the expense of power. And the most-liked chase unique in the game allows you to have both.
How is that bad game design? Because you dont get the orbs in act 3?
Normally I hate this argument, but man if this is too much for you guys you should really get into less complex ARPGs.
