IMO I dpecced out of Bestiary cause some red beasts can be tough and getting the good ones (50c) above was really rare even with max investment. Essences are IMO the broke boy strat. If u need currency and finding it hard to break into reds, sure but once ur there, I'd ditch it.
Love this kind of beginner friendly video, as a returning player from 2019 there are so many mechanics and you don't really know what to do/invest in for a fun and smooth experience. Appreciate it
I like the video format. I think you should add at the end of each mechanic's presentation an overview of how people juice the mechanics with the relevant scarabs they use.
I don't like that idea because there are several strats for every mechanic and they're always changing. On top of that, they're always dependant on the state of the economy. We want these videos to be relevant for at least the duration of the current league. I'd hate for a new player to take the suggestions in a beginner video at heart, only for them to be terrible because the scarabs cost 12c each. -Skryah
Since the league has started, I was looking for a video like this! Explaining each mechanic with the most updated version for 2024. I found some older videos but none were up to date. So this idea is brilliant! Each league often some things change and as a returning player seeing the both new additions and updated mechanics is very useful for us returning players aswell as the new ones. As an idea maybe do this video as a tierlist, you kind of worded it already but maybe putting some graphics in the corner saying what tier are they as for just clearing and for full on investing into it and a board at the end of the video with all mechanics being ranked for casual usage and go in big investment sink. Thanks for the hard work both Ziz and the editor!
Not sure if you read the comments here Ziz but honestly I would love a modular begginers guide. The game has so much depth it can be almost too overwhelming and while I don't need handholding it would be nice to have general guidance so I don't feel I spent time needlessly on a mechanic or part of the game. It would also be good to know how I can level faster or more about how gear works and why crafting is important etc. From a new players point of view not the end game crafting most videos cover...
Thanks for making this. Even a quick overview of each league mechanic helps tremendously for new players trying to make sense of all the different weird mechanics, or returning players needing a quick summary of what each of these things are. I came back to PoE after 2+ years of not playing and have had to make sense of what all had changed or been added since I left. Keep up the good work, Ziz.
Modular + re-upload. It definitely helps. it's a very efficient way of keeping the stuff uptodate. The re-upload acts as a alarm clock letting us all new league. It's also going to be really cool after a year because then we all could see how the advice changes over time with the changing of the game and league mechanics.
Super helpful video as I was just coming back to the league after taking some off and feeling overwhelmed as heck with all the league mechanics. Thanks for making this! I think the idea of a modular video is awesome and keeping it up to date will keep viewers coming back to see what's changed. My only recommendation is to have the rating (F-S tier) in the description or somewhere easily comparable. After watching the video, it'd be nice to have a side by side comparison :)
Harbinger/Strongboxes are so much fun to invest into with a bow build in the past, something about harbinger is insanely dopamine hitting even if it drops dogwater it can all add up over time
Noob to PoE who had a lot of this fly over my head as you had a lot to cover briefly and fast due to PoE's complexity, this may help with clarity. Having a Pros and Cons list written on screen like LazyPeon does with MMO reviews would make it easier to digest, and possibly highlighting or zooming in on the mechanic in action paused or on loop when explaining it since there's so much on screen a lot of the time. Love the video, thank you. This is tremendous help, along with the most viable stash tabs.
Would be nice to have a summary graphic too with the tier listings and maybe some notes explaining why for each. You could even host this on a separate site you set up and link to it in the description; then you could at least get some ad traffic revenue on there from Ad Sense (plus have somewhere to post sponsorships for more passive income).
Thank you! This kind of video is absolutely needed for new players because with so many mechanics and more being added on, it's hard to tell what is what. Heck I can't even get the names of mechanics right let alone remember what most of them do lol
Awesome video, for a player who plays on and off every few leagues this was helpful for explaining mechanics I missed. I’ll have to check your other videos for atlas builds for the different mechanics that interests me.
This type of video is exactly what I was looking for last week, to remind me of everything, especially since I skipped a few leagues and wouldn't know about any changes.
Hey Ziz, on Abyss there are a couple things that can be good that were glossed over. 1. You can stack the scarabs for additional monsters which with atlas passive for 50% increased XP can make for a juicy way to farm XP when you have 5 abysses per map. I was averaging 250 million XP per hour on T16s. 2. Using the scarab that can make spawn hoards paired with the atlas passive for corrupted jewel drops will make the hoards also have a chance to drop corrupted jewels. It is a must for making Abyss profitable as you can get jewels with 5-6 attack mods that will be worth a divine or more. 3. This is mostly early league but there is a unique abyss jewel worth several divines that can be profitable to farm from the abyss boss, so specing into the increased chance for abyssal depth can be profitable. That profitability falls off later in the league.
I feel like there wasn't much explaining in some of the league mechanics, like Expedition was mostly about how good the mechanic is and not about how to do it well
I think you should start this video next league by explaining what the hell are scarabs. I reached the "endgame" with the Atlas and was looking for league mechanics videos to understand how I should invest my points. This video mention scarabs often but I have no idea what they are

What a great damn idea for a video. I know almost all of them, and the ones I do know I'm always open to hear a synopsis of what I might have missed. And short enough sections that I can skip things i Know about. ZIZ. IS. KILLING IT!
Might be worth mentioning that the specific essence node in the atlas tree, which gives one of the essences of killed essence monsters to the map boss can be very dangerous for beginners. Those bosses with 2-3 additional essences can sometimes be something else.
Thank you so much. This is exactly what I was looking for. Every time I look for how to do certain mechanics I only get videos or posts about when they were the major league mechanics and not the side thing. There is just way too much stuff in PoE and I was getting overwhelmed.
Really appreciate these, thanks. If it's possible, just having a couple bullet points on screen for each league with the benefits/rewards would help me as a newer player figure out what's with learning first and add a little more uniformity between sections.
Maybe add a bullet or 2 at the end of each, noting what's profitable about it. Something like "raw currency" or "fractured bases". I know you mentioned this verbally for a few, but a written summary of 1 or 2 bullets is just a good ppt presentation habit.
I really like the modular approach! Definitely helps a lot as a returning player, good to see what has changed since the last time I played. Also good to know what is currently good or not!
Really good video! The only suggestion I have is to perhaps find a few video clips that show only the league mechanic being talked about, gets a bit confusing when multiple are in the clip!
great vid. would be cool to see the tiers you gave written on screen like you do with builds that way returning viewers like me can check how each mechanics ranks compared to the previous league
As a new player I found this really helpful! The game just kind of throws 10 years or whatever worth of stuff at you and it's really hard to know what is worth doing! I love the idea of a modular beginner's guide. I will say as someone going through the new player process right now, focus on KEEPING IT SHORT AND SWEET. The point of that kind of video is to help new players contextualise all the insane complexity in PoE. It needs to be an accessible stepping stone rather than an hours long info dump.
Super helpful video for a player like me! I have less than 100 hours in the game still and seeing all these things on a map can be overwhelming and confusing. This video succinctly explains to me what I should and shouldn't care about.

I play an ignite chieftain and would HIGHLY recommend farming ultimatum. Scarabs: catalysts only, catalysts are inscribed ultimatums, scarab of bribing x2, and domination scarab. Domination on the map device as well. Its about a divine of investment per map and i commonly walk out with at least one 4 divine ultimatum. Sometimes multiple or some 8 divine ultimatums. I sell the ones with the ruin ghosts for 1 or 2 div less that they reward and run the others. Caveat being that to survive ultimatum you beed a VERY tanky build. I am currently at about 100-150 div worth of gear and i can AFK through most inscribed ultimatums
I really liked the video and it was super helpful. Just a few things I'd would have liked to see. Someone else already mentioned it but a rating on the screen would have been great, you did tiers like S tier, would have been nice to have seen it in say Green for beginner tier and Red for late game tier - ie for the Beyond would be F tier in green but S tier in red or w/e color scheme you go for. Also at the end if you had a full tier list, like the left side would League mechanic name, and right of it would be the tier you would give it, like I said in a color scheme to separate beginner or veteran, atleast in terms of investment. You mentioned which were bad early game but great late game. If you could have done this in order of the first league mechinics were you went over were bad early game leading to the better ones for early game towards the end of the video, similar to other videos of like a top 10 video for beginners. I know this was not a top 10 video technically but it did feel that way as I watching and felt it might have a better format. All that being said this really helped, thank you!
As a noob, this was great! Hoping you could explain more what you mean by investing and how to actually do that in the atlas/ which investment things to pick in specific ( I know you mentioned some)

A brilliant video idea. Everey new player should watch this video...new as in, never played the game, and new as in, less then 300hours played lol. This video helped me a bunch! Thanks ziz!
Sidenote: you can skip Blight by simply buying and running Blighted maps. T15s sell for 4~5 chaos and are easy leveling especially for low dps builds. Of special note is that blighted and blight ravaged maps do NOT use your atlas tree, so by buying the maps you reap the rewards without investing into it on the tree!
Ritual is my favourite league mechanic, like ziz said its hit or miss but only if you don't run it for extended periods of time, ive been farming it all league and have had like 75-100 king of the mist invitations and made 100's of div from the light of meaning jewels.
I agree with his take on the Ritual mechanic. When I first started (3.15), I thought it was great and used it every league (casual player, so I don’t have all the hours in a league that some people have), but as I got more experienced with the other content, I realized I liked it so much because I was not good enough or knowledgeable enough to attain good gear or items myself, and the rituals allowed me to get lucky and get something I wouldn’t otherwise be able to farm for myself. Other content is far more reliable in my eyes now, and I agree with Ziz’s take that it is inconsistent. However, it may be a good thing for some newer players, but I’d still argue it would be better to learn the other mechanics if the new player enjoys the game! Wonder if anyone else had this experience with Rituals!
A little note that says what types of build are good for the different mechanics would help. The legion one was perfect "gold standard for fast map clearers". but saying something like ST is good for essence and betrayal wouldve been good.
This is my first time going blight/ritual (basically the slowest mechanics) but it has been fun. Usually I just like to blast breach and delirium. The affliction monsters in ritual are deffinately a surprise though lol.
I'm a huge fan of this. tbh most of us no life this game an occasionally bring someone into the fold, and having these as a resource is really helpful. Also sometimes you need inspiration to try some new content out on the atlas.
ssf ritual fan here. i just wanted to say that with added afliction mobs into ritual there is pretty good drop rate on socket/links omens. in my first 2-3days of the league i dropped like 2omens for insta 6socket and one 6linker as NATURAL DROP in white/yellow maps, i didnt need to defer it at all what is the most crazy part about this... so u could pretty much get just ritual spawn chance and dont even trigger the ritual, just kill the mobs that spawn for 6link omens im playing trickster flicker this league so its rly hard for me to tell how much harder the mobs are cause i just insta heal from kills... but there are some spawns now that are rly tanky... u can skip them with entering and leaving the portal or kiting them away from ritual circle b4 killing for the first time but that kinda slows down everything so *shrugegg*
Can you explain more what you mean by investing in maps please I heard something about using scarabs not sure what you mean I know I’ve looted ‘em but no idea what they’re for lol or do you mean when you start the map you’re clicking one of the diffferent bonuses that cost chaos orbs ty
I wish you could show how to star the mechanics or show how they look on the map. Also, what nodes are smart to invest in the atlas. I'm very new to the game and appreciate this kind of videos thank you
The real question is, how does one decide what item to pick up? In Last Epoch I can just use the Lootfilter to sift through, but in PoE I get tons of items with no real idea what is worth to pick up, even using your Lootfilter is useless to me I get either tons of items I have no use for or no items at all which I still don’t understand why. Do I have to learn by heart those base item lists? Or can a Lootfilter be made that only shows what matters to my build? Poe and it exclusion of quality of life is killing my fun again after trying it again after years.
@@TheVibinDoodz "...even using your Lootfilter is useless to me I get either tons of items I have no use for..." reading only half, doesn't help. Lootfilters in Path of Exile are to complex and with having to Identify items, near impossible to make usable. Adding to the problem the 20-30 bases that can dropp in each category of item slot, makes it even more dumb. And on top you get Item Tiers that need a specific item level to even roll what you need if you want to craft. The solution in my eyes is, only Identified Items dropp and Lootfilters can sort then through them with base, ilvl, affix, implicit, sockets, links and what not all else. As it is now, its usless for new and returning players, you need a university degree to go through the dropps or use someone elses system without having the knowledge of that someone to understand it.

I think delve might be the safest way to go to 100 ... i mean the mobs can be average and the density of champions and elites spawning all the time, per any run can add really fast
While maybe not a "mechanic", I feel like it'd be nice for these modular videos to include "returning in xyz form" mechanics. For instance, the random chance to get Sentinel or Wildwood. I'm relatively new, and never played sentinel league, so don't know how to best utilize it when found. I'm quite familiar with wildwood, but a new player may want to be warned they can brick their map with uber tanky mobs if they have a weak character (for instance).

Hoping you could explain more what you mean by investing and how to actually do that in the atlas/ which investment things to pick in specific ( I know you mentioned some)
Great content. Thanks for the video. As a new player, it helps me to understand what I can expect in PoE 2
cheeeeeeeeeeeeers THANKS FOR THIS AS ALWAYS ZIZ! im new and i still love this refresher!!!!! always trying ot figure out what mechanics i enjoy, how to strategize nad make PROFIT from thme WHILE having fun, ANDDDDD how ot make a build that is FUN around that mechanic cheeeeeeeeers
They should change abyss into just another circle mechanic. My heart sinks every time I see that green dot even though I know I won't do it.
A brilliant video idea. Everey new player should watch this video...new as in, never played the game, and new as in, less then 300hours played lol. This video helped me a bunch! Thanks ziz!
Great video. Helps to understand the meta a bit for a complete newb.
This video is awesome, one of the best so far, really.
Pretty useful, especially because I tend to skip 2 or 3 leagues and then come back
Ritual is my favourite league mechanic, like ziz said its hit or miss but only if you don't run it for extended periods of time, ive been farming it all league and have had like 75-100 king of the mist invitations and made 100's of div from the light of meaning jewels.
I exclusively played ritual from early to mid league since ritual league. It has given me consistent 10ex/10div per hour alch and go.
I play ritual to gamble
O hate trying to figure out the syndicate...thx for this vid. I dont need to worry about it.
A little note that says what types of build are good for the different mechanics would help. The legion one was perfect "gold standard for fast map clearers". but saying something like ST is good for essence and betrayal wouldve been good.
Does killing regular monsters during delirium raise the loot bar? I usually clear the map and go back for it.
This is my first time going blight/ritual (basically the slowest mechanics) but it has been fun. Usually I just like to blast breach and delirium. The affliction monsters in ritual are deffinately a surprise though lol.
You know, it'd be really amazing had you showed an atlas tree after each mechanic :)
I was searching all last night for a list of mechanics and then you made this. Is there anywhere we can find your Atlas trees?
I'm a huge fan of this. tbh most of us no life this game an occasionally bring someone into the fold, and having these as a resource is really helpful. Also sometimes you need inspiration to try some new content out on the atlas.
ssf ritual fan here. i just wanted to say that with added afliction mobs into ritual there is pretty good drop rate on socket/links omens. in my first 2-3days of the league i dropped like 2omens for insta 6socket and one 6linker as NATURAL DROP in white/yellow maps, i didnt need to defer it at all what is the most crazy part about this... so u could pretty much get just ritual spawn chance and dont even trigger the ritual, just kill the mobs that spawn for 6link omens
im playing trickster flicker this league so its rly hard for me to tell how much harder the mobs are cause i just insta heal from kills... but there are some spawns now that are rly tanky... u can skip them with entering and leaving the portal or kiting them away from ritual circle b4 killing for the first time but that kinda slows down everything so *shrugegg*
I would like a video on what builds are good for each one of these endgame things
Exactly the type of video i needed. Thanks!
Lol literally just looked for this and you have an updated one...awesome
Can you explain more what you mean by investing in maps please I heard something about using scarabs not sure what you mean I know I’ve looted ‘em but no idea what they’re for lol or do you mean when you start the map you’re clicking one of the diffferent bonuses that cost chaos orbs ty
very interested in blight, what would you recommend running with it? new player btw
I had no idea any of this will be in the game, what the hell did I just watch? 🤯
we need a video on betrayal i have tried to learn it and i cant find a good video...i have no clue how safehouses work.
Great video, just what I needed.
There are lootfilters
@@Sw4lley you literally don’t need a degree if your playing on pc you use filter blade it tells you the deference in the settings when you set it up which one you want and when you want it.
They tell you literally everything in the filter set up and make it pretty easy to understand the difference between everything.
@@TheVibinDoodz what even is filterblade? is it a third party program, that generates you code that you insert yourself? feels like you need to be absolutely sure whoever does that is clean. How is someone expected to use a third party service to play your game... and it still doesn't fix the problem of what to pick up or leave on the ground.
It took me a long time to even understand how I can "follow" a lootfilter on Zizs profile on the Website from GGG, I had to bust out a 12 year old account login for that. I will not execute random code from the internet on my PC thats just asking to be hacked.
Extremely useful, thank you !
God I wish there was a video like this when I started
Whats the build used here 2:59
Helpful, thx. Would like to see anything related to sanctum. Never played it and just curious to see good guide to it, mb even "in depth"?)
Whats the build at @10:00??
righteous fire
Why is it recommended to run Tier 6 in specific for essence, isn't it better if you run in on a tier 1 or 2?
I believe last league they made it so it scales with map tiers
great vid, thanks a lot! as a new player this is INCREDIBLY useful!
btw what is the build name used in the vid?
It's either Pohx's Righteous Fire, or Ben_'s Ele Hit Deadeye from Necropolis League.
@@Zizaran thanks a lot for the reply!
Please keep those coming.
ok but what is the bow build he uses between Abyss and anarchy
pls @everyone
This was great for me as a newer player
I think delve might be the safest way to go to 100 ... i mean the mobs can be average and the density of champions and elites spawning all the time, per any run can add really fast
Disappointed this video wasn't just Ziz saying "It's like a circle where you fight monsters" a bunch.
As a returning player I love this .
Amazing content lately
Super video bro. Thanks.
A helpful guide. Thank you!
Nice video, but would have loved one for SSF where 'profitable' has a different meaning.
League mechanics 90 seconds, advertisement 400 seconds.
Does anyone know what build hes using??
With some mechanics, I have problems identifying which exactly they are based on the visuals of the video.
Ive been making money on Incursion for years. Its the only way I know how to make Divs. Now I want to try to do essence.
