We updated our Betrayal guide, in our new style of video!
Let us know how you like it, we're looking to make more of these more often.
BETRAYAL CHEAT SHEET: i.imgur.com/M1jnhFh.png
great idea ziz! If I want to make a video in a react-like format then post on youtube so my friend and my fellow BR exiles can finally have the definitive guide for betrayal so they wont be asking every 2 minutes on albatrox18 chat "how do syndicate works? I cannot understand", would you allow it?
@@orlandosilva6665 Go ahead! Just include the original video in the credits.
Its a pain in the arse to find a membe in those sheets WHY not list the alphabetically rather than some random order???
If we to believe wiki, Leo's and Aisling fortification rewards should be swapped in the cheat-sheet. Also, Cameria research reward should be Orbs of Unmaking, not sextants.
Where's the Catarina boss fight guide though..?
At 6:04 I want to clarify: Catarina promotes ALL syndicate members that are assigned to a job by one rank, not just the leaders of each job.
This ^
This was the only reason I clicked on the video lol
That was anything but simple. Imagine your talking to someone that just ran into two syndicate members for there first time. And have no idea what to press, interagate or execute. I would like a decent outcome, but am not too crazy considering it’s my first time. But holy F you said so many words I just don’t know what any of it means 🤣 like listening to a Spanish lady yell at you when you don’t speak Spanish… fml
One important thing you didn't talk about is removing members to get others. People who hear about gravicious probably want to know how to get him
Tip: Last guy always offers a bargain, so the order you interrogate matters. So if there's someone you want to promote/execute, always do that first etc.
im new to poe and watch all your guides. i have no clue what i just watched and dont understand any of it xD
What you said at 3:02 is actually incorrect. When you interrogate a member, you get intelligence for the encounter in which they appeared. Let's say a Fortification member showed up in a Research encounter. If you interrogate them, you get Research intelligence.
This is one of the most important ways to get intelligence for the safehouse you need without scuffing the levels of the members you want to keep at 3 stars.
This is brilliant thanks Ziz and team for your time and efforts on this informative and interesting video. Cheers.
The world first video that explains betrayal in less than 1 hour. Very well done, thanks a lot!
Ziz! I love the new style of the video !!! It's easy to follow and to learn.
I never payed much attention to Betrayal, now you made me excited about it - thanks!
Dude THANK YOU. Sancutm was my first league and I realized most of my enchants I got from the Jun missions unveiling. The whole "execute, bargain, release"-thing....I read all I could ingame but ended up executing the entire Syndicate many times daily. Can't wait to actually try it out next season
My man. Thanks for the follow up vid on this complicated but very fun game mechanic.
Might actually go and spec Betreyal next league because of this ! Thanks ziz :D
It is worth it if you're a little bit tanky. They give so much exp even from just inside the maps - and their hideouts even more.
Betrayal is profitable , when u know what to do . Like , enroching breachstones and selling aisling , Leo slams and vorici white sockets .
@@rodrigoemanuel8088 leo doesnt give slams anymore (exalted so cheap now anyway and it was prolly mainly changed since lower tier he gave divine rerolls), think he gives you a certain amount of jewellers/chroms rolls now, unless his tier 4 which i think makes him do fusings a certain number of times
but yeah aisling, it the fled, and vorici in reseach and hillock anywhere are all good profit
@@kirneh89 oh yeah , i know leo is real sucky rn , i was giving general examples , to me enriching breachstones is the go-to on betrayal , everything else is pretty bleh .
Awesome video! Hope we get more of these!
Skryah!!!! This video is nuts in terms of production value!
Great one, ziz! Definitely a much needed update.
Well done, Ziz. I think I might actually understand Betrayal now. Can't wait to start Crucible!
Love these full guide videos thank you ziz
Honestly this is just an amazing video! I feel like I can now actually use betrayal for the first time without just randomly clicking and praying
Commented recently on your stream this video idea. Thank you mate
Thank you so Much Ziz. I like Betrayal but I just did it in the latest league and felt cheated because of how the syndicate worked.
I'm glad to find your recap and explanation of Betrayal.
The updated graphic is awesome and the production quality is high, but I feel like this video is missing some of the building blocks needed in a "FULL GUIDE" - though this is a great short primer for players who are nervous about trying it.
The big chunk of info that I don't already know and feel is missing is how map level impacts things now. It feels like I end up with fewer reinforcements on lower level maps, but do I really? Does it change the safehouse rewards? Which ones and how much? I think it has some kind of impact because of leagues having a "defeat Caterina in an area level of at least X" challenge, but I don't know WHAT impact it has or if it can be manipulated in any useful way. If someone knows, please drop a comment for me.
If you're completely new to Betrayal, be aware that this is giving a very broad overview, and that there a bunch of individual details and tips that are important to know. Off of the top of my head and in no particular order:
1. You might not have a specific syndicate member at all (you can reroll which ones you have by either beating the Mastermind, or you can reroll one member using a rare 3rd option on defeated members with the effect of "X is removed from the syndicate").
2. Higher rank interrogations increase the intelligence gained.
3. I have heard that rivalries are more likely to cause reinforcements than friends (though I haven't seen any numbers about how much).
4. Atlas passives make a substantial impact, especially the +1 additional rank on execution.
5. Defeating the first syndicate member(s) to appear in an encounter after all of the others can help if your DPS is low, because the other members will run away after you finish off the originals (you can also kill the originals first in a laboratory if you're worried you're going to run out of time, so you don't fail the lab).
6. You can choose to not run a safehouse so you don't downrank important people, and your intelligence with that division will drop back to lower intelligence after about 3 other maps with the syndicate (although leaving a safehouse uncompleted makes that event not show up as an encounter until it drops back down).
7. Killing the Mastermind randomizes the whole board's members and ranks, but leaves your division intelligence unchanged.
8. Getting division leaders as reinforcements is less likely than other members, so you might not want to have the person you're trying to rank up as the leader.
9. The crafting bench gives worse versions of the mod than unveiling does.
10. You can slow down your kills to get more reinforcements sometimes, though this does not always happen and always has a limit.
I play since beta and i have to say, Ziz content is always top notch !
Ziz is a great content creator for new players, but i always had this critizice about his explanation videos - he can't make coherent toughts he would jump from basic info then complex info then basic info without ilustrations, very hard to follow.
BUT THIS VIDEO explained the basics first kept the more complex ones to later, ilustrated what he was narrating, in summary looked very professional with a reviewed script.
We've been moving towards a more planned and scripted manner of film making, glad to know it's showing!
Thanks for the feedback.
-Skryah
Ziz finally back to making mechanics tutorial! Pls make more updated how-to contents like this especially now that some of the mechanics have been updated/nerfed or changed.
ty for the amazing video
THANK you for this!!!
I like this new style of video.
Oh nice dude, i know a bit but i for sure want to learn more.
I liked how short the explanation was. I got some of it now! 2 weeks in in PoE :D
good info thanks
Your getting better at thesr videos. I was expecting a minimum if 30 minutes to explain something as complex as this.
thanks for information
hey ziz,
I just wanted to give you a big thanks for all the content for this league. And in particular, this video.
I'm a PoE noob with 500h. Last time I played was Ultimatum 3.14. So coming back to the game there was so many new things, like the fella "Rog" etc that I initially just put in a corner to rot until I watched your videos.
When it comes to Betrayal, I'll be honest... for 490h of PoE I was just clicking random buttons, "uuh execute, uuh interrogate, I have no idea what I'm doing". This video finally made it click, and I'm currently specced into Betrayal because I enjoy it and I'm chasing some rewards. I just got the Hillock quality while targetting that. I got Vorici soon ready to go. There is a plan and a system and I'm absolutely loving it, some really powerful rewards too.
To add to that, I am playing your EA champ, you have helped tremendously to derust and fully enjoy POE again. Thanks! I dropped by the other day to drop a prime sub on you as a thanks. Thanks for holding my hand! :)
My favorite episodes of yours are the "Everything explained" videos. Could you perhaps this season, do something along those lines for Syndicate? I know the setup of the Syndicate Members is dependent on what you're going for, but a follow up with detail of an example of your thinking process would be super helpful. (On the editing side, you could just mark each time you encounter the Syndicate, then cut them together for one video)
Wow strange that I just started learning Betrayal mechanic today and Ziz uploaded a the best overall guide😳 coincidence? I think not!🤯
can you make advanced guides aswell? would love to know how to optimise the board to get masterminds from foothills asap
We'll leave more advanced specific strategies for other times, especially those that are prone to be changed.
Everything in this video should be relevant for a very long while, even if they change the rewards.
-Skryah
IIRC rivals and allies that appear at encounter are rolled separately so for maximization of appearances it's better to have both rivalries and friendships on the board.
How fascinating. League dropped 4 years ago but full guide has been released just now. Finally more than 10+- people in tft can understand what to do with them 😁
there have been plenty of full guides before
@@Devellaro I know, learned about betrayal long ago, just funny how many guides simple poe player need to properly understand game
Betrayal is always confusing me. Usually I just rank up everyone, try to improve relations and rivalries and aim to get my reveal unlocks and as many Catarina rewards/unlocks as I can. Moving the members around to get a "perfect" setup takes way too much time when I try to do it, as I never get the options I need. Regarding the video: a section covering the Betrayal Atlas nodes would have been a nice addition.
Love you ❤️
Hey! Sweet video. Great for getting the basics.
That said, I did want to point out that your video says 'certain members' have specific unveils. I feel like it would be better to point out 'all' members have a specific unique unveil based off the items they drop. Second, I think it's important to mention all people get their rank bumped by one, meaning you can get full factions that give all T4 rewards. Lastly, I think mentioning the atlas passive that allows you to get an extra rank per execute would have been really good, as this vastly expedites safe houses. Personally, syndicate borderline feels unplayable without it.
Such an amazing league mechanic
Something I'd like to ask is, is my goal to get all members to rank 3 in each division prior to fighting Katarina? If possible, is it worth it to continue betrayal without killing her until i'm ready? As in all 4 people at rank 3. I'd love some input on the general/optimal strategy, like If I have no one good on the board what is my plan. If I have 2/4 good, what's the plan then, etc. Some examples would've been nice for a "FULL GUIDE" 10 minutes for a complex mechanic seems surface level and more of a general guide.
There's no need to get all the members to rank 3, unless that's your goal.
Usually you just pick a few members that you wanna get to rank 3 based on rewards (easy to find in the cheat sheet we provide!) and do those while ignoring the others.
However, getting members to rank 3 is very easy thanks to the atlas passive tree nodes.
We didn't want to go in very niche specifics this way in order to have a digestable and easy to watch video.
-Skryah
Whats up Ziz? Just commenting to feed the numbers. See you at exilecon!
Also I think its hysterical that you called Jun friendly as you showed her "leveling up" one of the syndicate members XD
One useful tip : If you have Awakened PoE trade running, and you press shift+space, you have access to the betrayal sheet.
Also, in my experience, 1 turn means 1 syndicate encounter, and not 1 map with syndicate encounters. That means the board gets "moved" by 3 turns per map (that has 3 encounters). Am I right?
Yes, that's my understanding too.
Okay awesome video but I still have one question, what/how is the quickest way to keep spawning Catarinas?
Aim to rank up as many members as quick as possible. Having a web of friends and rivals speeds this up immensely. Ignore individual members unless you really need their rewards, and focus purely on getting as many to a high rank as possible. Once the member is rank 3, interrogate them for safehouse intelligence. Run safehouses as soon as you get them. Make sure that your safehouse leaders are at a high enough rank to give you a Mastermind fight every 3 safehouses. The best combinations are 2 Rank 3 + 1 Rank 1, or 1 Rank 3 and 2 Rank 2.
@@Sporrik thanks for the reply, appreciated!
Betrayal was my first league and is still one of my favorite mechanics. I wish this guide would have touched on removing members from the board completely though. Even though I do some amount of Betrayal each league, even I don't know the most efficient way to, for example, remove Guff entirely if someone like Vorici isn't on my board. Usually I just stack as many red lines as possible and keep the non-desired person at 0-1 stars and hope I just get lucky with a remove option, but sometimes it can takes dozens of Jun missions
I luv U ZIZ
It might make sense to him what he says, but it actually feels like he just reads from a paper and doesnt really explain anything...
He says imprisoning will remove them from their division but what are divisions for?
What is the most efficient strategy to rush to Catarina?
I wish I had this when I started playing. took me way too long to understand this
would be great to see a guide on Incursions, not to explain the mechanic but to explain why its even still in the game beyond double corrupts.
Thx Ziz and team! now watch ggg rework the syndicate in 3.21 😂
clear as mud
I’ve watched this four times now and I still have no fucking clue how it works
best feeling is to get the diadem in your first try with the bis unveil in ssf. you can put in effort to gain a lot in return but I just choose to allocate the "10 intelligence on completion" node for catarina only.
How do you even keep track of your builds over the years and do you make a new character each season? Or do you keep playing standard. I’m new and I want to know the flow and loop for this game. Do you play leagues and then once they become standard you can share standard items with standard characters but what do most people do? Just make a new character every 3 months? What do you do with the standard characters? Store them?
Some people only play standard, but most people only play the current league. After the league ends, the average player prepares to make a new character for the next league, and never touches their characters in standard. Some people prefer playing standard for various reasons, the primary one being extremely little time to play.
the fact that the game expects you to get these mechanics without consulting youtube or the fandom wiki is ridiculous. I still only sort of get it after this video. The fact that there's another video about it more than one and a half hours in length says a lot. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING
still confused.
What do i do to get the most unveiled drops?
In Affliction my thing was I didn't understand any of these... in Necropolis I tried making my own build. That was a mistake apparently
Still waiting on that Catarina guide. She's destroyed me twice now.
My friend, my skills have stopped causing any damage, and it does not kill any enemy, even if it is very weak. It has no effect on it. What should I do and what is this
Sucks that Aisling reward got nerfed
Mastermind item drop pool somewhere ? What ilvl for what uniques ?
i did not have "ziz thoroughly explaining a mechanic from 5 years ago" on my 2023 bingo
where can you go in the campaign to farm betrayal? is that not a thing anymore*?
How do I know which member would take place after their leader get safehoused? At first I though it depends on relationship with their leader but it is not, when I kill their leader they just lose all rank and fell off the hierarchy.
loved the video and the editing style but i think this is a full INTRODUCTION to betrayal.. i suggest making a part 2 maybe, where you explain how to move syndicates around, order of handeling them in an encounter, ways to increase intelligence in a house without ruining the member's ranks and so on, i think putting full guide on the title is incorrect and partly misleading.
watched the video and still have no idea what to do :(
Most insane game mechanic lol
I'm always fail on research encounter, tips?
still cant understand this things, but thank you for the explanation XD.
"they'll have zero stars and start jumping between safe houses."
Can you continue to rank up leaders if the safehouse is already unlocked?
Yes!
You mention unequipping a syndicate characters items, as they are very powerful...how do you do that?
I have never interacted with this league much cause of how confusing it is lol
Hopefully the video helps!
It's one of my favourite mechanics.
-Skryah
I wish someone made a guide (or explained to me) how to farm Catarina as fast and easy as possible to get my own Diadem. I really only care about getting some crafts like -mana cost and the Diadem early on the league but this all feels so very confusing.
This is all good info, but i have a different issue, i had the initial encounter for this, but nothing ever after, and Jun provides no dialogue.. my investigation has been stuck with Hillock and Leo, two turns left for a couple weeks now... I'm not sure what I'm missing..
Which uniques Catarina drops on ruthless, where we dont get veiled items?
Ive heard that only veiled items available in Ruthless is Uniques from Catarina actually
0:06 jumpscare ziz
So just like my many annoyances with everything PoE... How do you start these? Does it happen normally? Is it all Endgame content? I have the contracts thing unlocked and am working through Act 8 or 9 right now.
Endgame once you get to the Atlas map. When you put a map in the Map Device you can select a Mission which guarantees having that specific content in the map (Niko-Delve, Jun-Immortal Syndicate, Alva-Incursions, etc). Also, in the Atlas tree the Immortal Syndicate is under the name Betrayal.
@@hunterlane5997 Thank you so much for this. Makes sense now.
How do you make members leave the board so for example if Aisling isnt in the board, you want pointless members to leave so that she has a chance to join the board? Whats a sure way to make that happen?
Members leave the board under two circumstances: rarely through Bargain, and uncommonly through Betray. I would try to get some relationships between as many members as you can, as I find that getting one to betray another, which can give the "Remove" option a bit more regularly than hoping for one to leave on their own.
@@Sporrik but no sure fire way to manipulate those? I find it hard to find a consistent way to do that. Remove and exchange them that is.
This is it, this is the LAST time I try to figure this mechanic out, if it doesn't go well I always have TFT. Would love to make my own White sockets with Vorici, or make a few Pure Chayulas on my own. This mechanic just doesn't sit well with me. TBH this will be the 3rd maybe 4th time I've sat down and put my mind to it.
This mechanic needs to be simplified
What is the bet it gets changed in 3.21?
We've made this video so that it's still entirely relevant if they change the rewards.
We'll update the cheat sheet with changes to the rewards as necessary and keep it up to date.
-Skryah
Ziz what is the new accent in your voice
how we can get more Jun missions? after they are finished from device.
theres tons of nodes on atlas tree for getting jun missions on map completion, you can get them
i wouldnt call this a guide but a review. left out most tips and tricks you mentioned in your old guide like the order of interrogation mattering as you cant execute the last guy
Really needed that lol , ggg should pay you montly game would be unplayable for new players withouth your content
It seems like BETRAYAL is getting reworked in 3.21!!
No Foothill? Ziz, da Foothills ...
As an idiot who never actually learned how Betrayal works, thanks.
bro i just wanna figure out how to play the threads mini game. i still dont know ;(
I did not understand. Probably I would push the random buttons until I start fighing some bosses or something.
i been trying to get a trigger wand for the last 9 hours lol
I appreciate the info but I'm not going to run betrayal unless it is the first couple weeks of the league. I've spent an hour trying to sell an aisling for 1 div less than its worth before during peak hours and just don't think it is worth it after all the big crafts of the league are done
watched this whole thing still have no fucking clue what to do with this
Yea very complex and requires a side spreadsheet, but def my favorite mechanic
