      im wondering if its worth making another guide for people that arent far enough into end game to have all the different crafting choices you listed. I think there are a ton of players that stop progression around yellow maps, so most of the end game choices you discussed would not apply. I find it relatively easy to get good enough gear to handle white/yellow, but usually fall flat working into red maps, and dont have a good understanding of how to progress my gear, since my gear is, at that point, usually dependent on each other (for instance, resists are barely over caps, or gear has critical functions for the build like life regen or something)

    This is the exact guide I had wanted for my first few leagues. I have the hang of things now and the comment on playing more builds obviously helps, but this is literally one of the most invaluable resources for new players aside from a POB guide. The reason for that is because the decision paralysis of looting in these games is unreal. To teach someone what is worth keeping or vendoring is going to keep their stash clean and their time valuable which is like giga strong skill to have in POE. Amazing work ziz and editors.

      True. This is bad game design in my opinion. The stats potency is counter-intuitive. This game is about about dealing damage, and yet the main stats to look for are health and resistances. The combat is lightning fast and the game itself is just monster grinder. Doesnt matter if you deal fire damage or physical, there is no feel to it when the mobs die in one hit. No idea what damage my minions do and what minions are better. This is just ridiculous.@@ExceedProduction

    I learned it by playing builds, like high life and resistances is the first thing you learn, then the plus to gems and some others stood outs, playing an ES build gave me insight into what stats you want on ES build and so on... the biggest jump in understanding I got was definitely trying to craft items, you get hands on experience on how hard some stats are to get and what it costs to make that item. Id say for new players look for items for your build and sell/buy , etc,.. and try different builds to learn new valuable stats but try to get into crafting, it will speed your learning and make building up much cheaper.

    Only thing I would have asked for in this video or another is how to price such things. Maybe I'm crazy, but I just rarely ever find something I price over 20c. I probably should download the app that price checks things as a start though. However, knowing something is worth 20c or 20d is a big difference. Quite a few times, I've had something that was listed at like 5c finally sell after weeks, that I'll go check after because even I thought "that's really good" and the next cheapest one is 5 times or more what I sold mine for. But a video on a pricing tool or how to gauge a price would be really appreciated. This video has already helped me immensely though.

    As someone with dyslexia reading items quickly is a real issue. I really wish that they would extend the filter system to also allow us to highlight certain stats on items. So I would be able to make life on a item above a certain number have a green color text or +1 gems be purple. This would make the game 1001% more better for me.
    But maybe that's just me. I also think items should drop identified. This isn't D2 a single juiced map likely drops more items than an entire start to finish run of d2. I never pick up items unless it has a specific base with the influence I need. The whole dopamine hit they are going for when you ID an item and it's actually not trash just doesn't realistically happen. It is so rare. Meanwhile if items drop identified we can get that dopamine hit when the item drops and we will hyped because it will be something we think is valuable because we can filter this with our item filter.

    Also - good tip is to look for FRACTURED T1 items. Usually they go for 10c, but if you lucky to hit +1 all fractured on sceptre - that's few divines in your hand right there
    Also, generalizing, - Life and ES (if your build use ES effectivelly like Witch on templar), resistances and attributes - all as high tier as possible - are good items.
    Like ring with T2 life, two T1-2 res and empty preffix - can go for nice price. Or Gloves.
    Boots is kinda exclusion here, cause as Ziz said - boots without movement speed - is brick. Try to hit 30%, that's sellable level i would say from years of my experience.
    Good way to test your knowledge and possibly get nice item - is Rog crafting.
    Rog crafting - is crafting item with Rog character, that is from Expedition league mechanic. With Rog - You can manipulate items with different way and get something real nice, and spend on it only expedition currency, which is no-loss strategy in many ways.
    For example - bow, you can be lucky and reroll Rog with 2 flat ele damage prefixes, that are T3-4 (for example added 20-120 cold damage and 25-100 fire damage)
    With rog - you can get craft to get those tiers higher. If you manage to get them to T2 or even T1 - you can bench craft third flat (you need empty prefix for it) - that will sell very good, few divs easy (cause you can metacraft AS and crit on it easily with those prefixes)
    Don't be sad if something bricked - PoE is great for gambling both because it gives that chance to proc cool nice stuff, but also it teaches you, that fails happen and you need to face it and go on for next lucky craft/gamble :)
    UPD:
    Chaos res is usualy praised more, due to it's harder to cap it. Ele res can be found on Passive tree super easily

    When you are new, u consider an open suffix good. When you want good gear, you consider open suffix is worst than open prefix for almost all slots. Rings and amulet is obvious, it's pretty generally understood you want Elreon for most builds (for amulets also some very strong damage mods like aoe/damage or proj damage/speed). For your helm, you very very often want Korell. For your body armor, Gravicius is often BiS and incomparable to any of the awful things you can craft on a suffix. Only exception may be %attributes. Boots you often want to make your suffixes first so you can get veiled ms and bench life. Those the cookie cutter simple boots to make. For gloves, there you have excellent bench craft on both prefix and suffix. For weapon, both caster and attack, almost only suffix is something u bench craft. Shields, good options on both sides there too.
    Open suffix is only good on bad gear when bench crafted res is considered a good thing. So very early gear stuff. On good gear, the difference is your bench craft prefix is often better than any other mod you could have there. While bench crafted suffixes are often slightly worst than a good natural mod. You can bench attack speed, but it never will be as good as the natural mod. While you cannot roll pierce one target on your gloves or phys taken as fire on your helm naturally and for some builds, these are very helpful.

    • @m.h.4907
      @m.h.4907 Год назад

      That doesn't apply to weapons, in 90% of the cases you never want to unveil a prefix modifier. So the unveiled suffix will be always more worth

    • @joelcuerrier4833
      @joelcuerrier4833 Год назад +1

      @@m.h.4907 Yes think I may have said that. Bench craft mods for most gear pieces is still best on prefixes. Because those bench craft mods are better than anything you can naturally roll. I'm thinking Elreon, Korell, Vorici, Gravicius, all those bench crafts are arguably the best prefix you can have on certain builds.
      So where possible your best items should have an open prefix for those very powerful bench crafts.

    Thank you for this guide. I'm playing SSF league for the first time and I have reached a wall when it comes to leveling. My character is a level 90 minion Guardian and I'm starting red maps. I have completed almost all white and yellow maps without problems but red maps are something else. I can clear them but I'm dying at least once per map and not progressing when it to leveling. The only avenue for improvement I can see is through equipment but I really don't know what stats to look for (except for resistances and life as those are obvious). I also have some hard locked slots as my weapon and gloves are unique and important for my build. And I'm also using the anvil unique amulet for block improvement. I did not play the league mechanic because I didn't enjoy it so I don't have tattoos. I'm stuck at level 90 for now.

    • @parkerault2607
      @parkerault2607 Год назад

      Hitting a wall at red maps/lvl 90 is pretty common. The low hanging fruit there is mana reservation efficiency to stack as many auras as you can, and don't ignore guard skills. You can map something like steelskin or molten shell to your left click so every time you move it will continuously cast. This is cheaper than linking cast when damage taken and frees up a socket/link. If you have decent life regen, stack auras until you barely have any unreserved mana and put your main skills on a lifetap support gem so mana isn't an issue. If you're already doing all of those things, you can grind the max tier yellow maps that you can reliably survive to level up and only attempt red maps when you're freshly leveled so you don't lose too much XP. I'm still relatively new to the game as well, so take my advice with a grain of salt. :)

    Thanks for this great guide and cheatsheet it helps a lot!!
    I'm new to POE and the biggest problem i have on stats is to know which stat is coming from which type of modifier (fractured, veiled, anoint,... and so on). And which stats are hard coded on these items and keeps on them even I Vaal or put essences on it, where to get these mods and so on.

    • @taylon5200

      Also as a new player, I second this. I've gotten the gist of what's decent most of the time, but knowing where and how each stat is coming from what mods would be really helpful

    Even playing off and on since Beta, what helped me the most was down losing PoE trade and letting it nudge me toward the good stuff. Once I had done that long enough I was able to get a vague sense and start discarding 95% of the junk quickly. Now I only price check maybe 1/20 items, and sometimes to just to figure out the range for the item.

    The itemdrops are the thing that costs me the most time in this game. I have this tendency to check most items to see if i can use it, even if it means a little improvement.
    It's true that over time i got to recognize items better before picking them up, but still it costs me most time in this game.
    Probably i have a hoarding issue or something, i wish i could just walk on quicker.

    I think a really good video would be how to min max cradting or atleast tips and tricks to cover the little details/nuances. Like how you say crafting mana blocks while unveiling. I didn’t know that. It’s all these little things about crafting that are really nuanced and I can guarantee the average player or new player has no idea. Including myself.

    Good beginner guide. I have NEVER seen a belt or anything with 70% total Elemental resistances. good example of what you want but that;s a higher map item or crafted item. You still talking about different crafting methods that may be beyond beginners and also trading if they have chaos or divines. Been playing a little while and hardly ever got divines. You gave some good advice but some still above what a beginner can do. As in other vids you move along/talk fast to try to keep up.

    Virtually all items you pick up from the ground are trash after the first 48 hours of league start. Don't pick up items after you're done using chaos recipe or gearing (aside from SSF). Just a waste of time and reduces your currency per hour significantly.
    Aside from fractured good bases and maybe some i86+ bases. Get a loot filter and go stricter than you think you should much sooner.

    Good guide, but I think only understand 30% of the practical examples. lol. I played 2-3 leagues, but all stopped when mapping started. The game is offering too much, my brain just stopped functioning and don’t know what to do next, so I stopped playing. 3.25 is the first league I really started mapping, this guide is still a bit advanced for casual players like me. It certainly requires other knowledge as there are just too many things in the game. The cheat sheet really helps, that’s the main thing I will take away from watching.

    I still cannot wrap my head around elemental weapons. Why is it that I would need flat lightning and fire on my weapon in order to have frost blades do more damage even tho frost blades is cold/phys -> cold? Especially if I don't intend to use trinity? Or is trinity a must have on any elemental attack build?

    • @skryah

      Usually Elemental Attack builds don't scale one type of element, they scale crit or generic elemental damage, so anything you add to your base damage is very valuable.
