  • As we cycle in and out the Westfjords our mood changes every corner we take… We ponder about what makes this empty and barren place so attractive. Meanwhile on the other side of the island ‘Fagradalsfjall’ erupts for the second time, a volcano that we rode past just a few weeks ago. We arrive at the most remote place we have ever been and get stuck for a small week because of the weather. As we finally decide to give it a go, we head into the mountains but...

This winter in Tennessee has been 4 seasons in a day multiple times so far and we have more to come but I'm sure that Iceland produces that type of weather more consistently. It randomly happens here, and the weather seems to linger but it is commonly said that if you don't like the weather in Tennessee just wait a minute. I truly enjoy the level of artistry in your videos, the choice of music in the videos seems to be perfect.
I just can't say enough to express how much I enjoy your adventures please be safe. thank you both.

We have just returned from 2 months cycling in Morocco. Absolutely absolutely wonderful, the landscapes of course, but the people mostly, so friendly and generous and smiling. The roads are good (in the Anti-Atlas - I can’t speak for the north), hard surface which we need for our tandem and everyone, except coaches 😖 giving us good berth when overtaking

Exactly what the world needs right now. Truthful, exhilarating, and real life rewards / struggles from an amazing couple that goes above and beyond in the name of teamwork, and adventure. They should teach this stuff in schools and honestly, a televised documentary from video #1 to current for all the world to see would be just great! 👏🏻

I'm actually off to collect seaweed this morning. It is the safest thing in the world to collect, just be aware of pollution levels if possible. The footage of the seaweed was beautiful. 70% of the oxygen we breathe is made by seaweed. That blows my mind. I hope to get to Iceland one day. Thanks for taking us with you.

“It’s fun again!” Says Eric, admitting how much of a struggle it can be some days to cycle in the weather and through the terrain of Iceland. All I can say is Eeeeek! It looks beautiful and so challenging. I am so glad we got some secret sauna cam footage of Mauro warming up. Go gently, stay safe. And that car driver was right. You’ve got to be a little crazy (in a good way) to do what you’re doing. Carry on!

What a wonderful video. It conveys the feeling of the contrasts of Iceland. The miserable, rainy and cold days. The welcome sun and landscapes on the next day. The places we humans choose to live and work and travel to are astonishing! With landscapes such as we see in your video, so immense and remote relative to our human size and scale, it seems plausible that people who live there feel the need to work together and provide places to warm up in every town or village. Thanks as usual for sharing your journey.

    • @WheelstoWander

What a great set of experiences! You guys are the masters of telling your story through video. We are currently touring tge far south of the South Island of NZ, now heading towards Stewart Island. Some of the landscape has been a little like Iceland, with vast glacial lakes instead of fjords and a lot of deforestation due to European settlement. This trip is the first major tour where I have been using the GoPro to video our travels, but I am yet to master hand-held video while riding. It is interesting filling many microSD cards with footage, but the editing and production may need to wait until we are home in mid February. I have a drone at home too (Air2S) but could not imagine carrying all that gear as well. You have done SO well to carry all the gear. Out of interest, what sort of gradients were those passes? Here in NZ we have been up half a dozen passes, and many other long climbs, but with gradients of 12-20% on rough gravel roads, it has seen us off and pushing the bikes for several kms at a time. We also are about 30 years older than you two. Anyhow, ciao and great travelling.

    • @WheelstoWander

Thanks Peter!! Would be interesting to see your video's when you get around to edit them. It's a lot of fun to relive your adventured :-) NZ must be amazing too, and quite a bit sunnier I reckon...
Yes we do carry a lot of filming equipment but we think it pays off... and you'll get used to it too! The passes in Iceland were not too bad, I think max. 15% but we never really had to push the bikes... Just highly recommended, at times we felt like cycling on the moon!

Interesting idea... Well, they do have reforestation programs the only problem is that the trees don't grow that well because of the temperature & winds...

Very beautiful. It looks like hard riding though. The wet and the cold must get unbearable after a while.

With the last white/yellow seaweed in the video you could repair your tires 😂

So barren and sad to see what the axe did a thousand plus years ago (this Florida boy needs many trees around). Nevertheless, the beauty of your cinematography paints for us a most memorable mural. Love the sheep shot at the end too.

I love watching your videos. Please could you do a video about your bicycles. Manufacturers, size of wheel and tyre sizes. What do you like about your bicycles, are they ideal or are there things you would change.

Hello, very strong pictures, but what I think is great about you is that I also make excellent, exciting videos of southern France or central England.
I'm curious when you start again. Many greetings
