Jesus! That is one of THE best versions I've ever heard! The band are tight and Robin Zander's vocals are out of this world. The first time I heard this song I thought the vocals were by two different people-such is the unbelievable range of Mr Zander's voice. One other observation. Not many people can pull off the double leather look but Mr Zander does it splendidly! Gorgeous man!
I certainly do! Great songs, great musicians and fantastic vocals. This is probably going to sound extremely shallow but I look at Robin Zander now and compare him to then and I get annoyed that he aged just like "normal " people! He was just so damn hot! He lit a fire 🔥 in me like no one else! (Told you it was shallow).
I first saw this band only 8 days before, That's right, Friday the 13th - January 1989. The show ended exactly like and it was electrifying to say the least, just like Cheap Trick ALWAYS do!! Thing is now, I would meet a woman the next year in college who would change my life tremendously. I have PTSD issues from my military career that gave me an honorable medical discharge and she had the same illness, diagnosed when she was 14. Our relationship was wonderful but eventually the illness we both had (hers was worse than mine) got the best of us and we split amicably. Years later on a Christmas Eve she lost her fight and took her own life. 'Auf Wiedersehen' (along with 'The Pass' by RUSH, she was no fan of that band!) now brings out tears down hot my face like Niagara Falls. Suicide hurts. And hearing this song brings me to tears from the beginning of that bass strumming, that's just the way things are now. But it's so nice that they follow it up here with 'Goodnight Now' to lift your spirits up! I have to date seen Cheap Trick perform seven times, more than any other band and it's ALWAYS party time when they play!!!!! 🤩The last time I saw these guys to date was in 2019 at a sold out show. First up was blues rocker Marquis Knox (met him, he's cool) then CT, then ZZ Top. THREE terrific acts, one great show. I hope to catch Cheap Trick some more times, as much as I can. They're guaranteed FUN, every time!
When my daughter was 13, I took her to CT for her 1st concert. Her comment was "CT is like a punk band with really good musicians and vocals"..... just made me smile
Out punking the punks! Love it. I don't think it's an anti suicide or pro suicide song it just describes the subject as it is, something that hard rock - metal bands are very good at. While I'm here where does the name Zander come from? Dutch, Deutsch or Danish?
I bet it was bitter sweet to have these guys as your opening act.......mostly likely they were gonna make ya look bad.....but then again maybe ya learn how it's done
stephen brown "Faithful to the Boudakan recording" ?? They're a LIVE BAND ! ! ( Apparently YOU ARE LITTERLY The least Musically inclined living thing) to have EVER commented on ANY BAND !! ) Have you played Countless live shows (( Of ORIGINAL MUSIC ) ?? I HAVE. & DO. !! Even people who are casual music lovers [ Appreciate a LIVE SHOW, sounding DIFFERENT from the record] You Ignorant FUCK.

Robin is my favorite frontman. He never fails to give a great show.
His high school choir class was no blow-off EZ credit for him. It's done him some good!
This is the Best Rock Band -- Hard/Punk/Pop in One Cheap Trick...

"Cheap Trick" the band with the best smiles ever!! Love them!!
I'm so envious of Rick Nielsen, getting to work with such a great frontman as Robin Zander.
Thanks for the post...memory lane for me. One of my fave songs ever.
Rock's most unrecognized and never appreciated vocalist! Zander RULES!
I used to cover this back in 81.
Brutally hard song to sing.
Zander does with ease.
Best voice rock ever heard.. (Next Elvis of course but, damn)

Best Auf version ever!!!!
Cheap Trick at it's best with Bun E.Carlos behind the kit.

Joseph Hebel Punk is Cheap Trick.
Best punk ever..this is real. Not poppy and happy shit like ramones, clash and other crap !!
great quality...sound is awesome!!
I wish I would have seen these guys perform in '89.
Damn.
In the middle of their cheesy power ballad late 80s comeback, the real Cheap Trick was trying to bust through
Robin Zander is a God.

Too bad the drummer doesn't come into the picture anymore.
What a frakkin' band...come back Bun E
The soundtrack if you are going to hang yourself.
Then you realize you want to live forever so that you can hear it again & again & again & ....
I bet it was bitter sweet to have these guys as your opening act.......mostly likely they were gonna make ya look bad.....but then again maybe ya learn how it's done
Good night!
Then they blew it when with the release of Busted.
AGREED
Double down on what Bob Finn said!
INMENSOS!
Bun E Carlos is not faithful to the Budokan recording !!
Sloppy lazy playing.
