It's guys like you that don't need to sleep because you live your dreams. Mazda Japan is dead. It's the garage gurus like yourself that keep the rotary engine alive. This is the project that'll just get done. No faff about. No BS. I freaking love it. The rotary engine is about simplicity and functionality. This has all those hallmarks. When I look at the headlights, it'd be cool to computer design and integrate rotors into the housing somehow.
While I'm also annoyed that Mazda is not reviving the rotary it does not make modern Mazda a bad company. In fact these days Mazda still makes great cars and they even made the number 1 spot for reliability in 2021.

At 5:55 I had a flashback of the movie Independence Day, when Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum fly the alien spacecraft for the first time.. and when they finally get headed the right direction..🤣, Will says "Man, I gotta get me one of *THESE!!"* I hope that's the same feeling you get when you first put your foot into that monster!!😎 Hopefully we'll have an update soon on how this is coming along. What a great project. The SLC is a super starting point. The 5 rotor really suits it. Center of gravity is low and long. It is going to be a track beast. Perfect combo. This thing could set a Ring lap record.
Great build! can't wait to hear this thing ripping! @3:15 small correction: DOM tube is as rigid as chromoly tube. Rigidity is not the same as strength You can use thinner walls on the chromoly and have the same strength as a DOM tube with thicker walls, but the rigidity of most common steels is in the same ballpark, so using a thinner tube wall will most certainly yield a less rigid chassis, not that it will matter all that much as I doubt it will be noticeable.

The coolest looking slc I have seen is built by a guy named scott on mad mechanics, but he revamped the whole body. It's time for the rotary to get even more respect from builders. I remember a rotary SLC build. I think it was posted on a FFcars forum. One video of it running a track day, the next time it surfaced, Tavarish purchased it as a total. I know that Your build will be A+! Looking forward to following along!!
This thing came to eat all of the other rotary builds. I want this thing to be done faster out of selfishness but you can't rush perfection. David you're a beast. Keep doing what you are doing.
Attention to detail is key on a project like this. Whenever I have media coming for pictures or video I make sure that the RR doesn't go on the LR. I'm not being hyper-crytical, it says a lot about how the entire operation. Keep these small things in mind in the future, it may not matter to some, it may not matter to most, it may not matter to you but it may matter to one person that could be the next million dollar client.
That thing has a sexy shape, like a Ferrari FXX. I remember back in the day when you said you were gonna keep Rx7 build mild.. lol You've come a long ways, it's awesome.

Genius, legend, whatever you want to call it, David is one of a kind, one of my goals have been to see the Formula 7, but I think a better thing to say is to see the complete Formula vision of this man. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is able to get rotaries back into Formula one, maybe that’ll get Mazda’s attention to start producing from the factory. Granted Australia will keeping doing it lol, and it’s quite clear when put in the right gifted hands, miraculous things happen.

Hoped into my 250cc gearbox grass race kart many times while it was being built and wondered what it would be like to drive. It was pretty scary for a while, then I got to become one with the machine and would be in the top 5 of most races on the track. You know what you've got there and what a serious endeavour, racing this is going to be! Thanks for taking us along! :)

Been waiting for someone to properly build one of these SLC with a rotor. You did a fantastic job on the RX-7, have no doubt this will be just as good if not better than the RX-7. 1000+ hp in SLC chassis will be wicked.

Haha I get this with my rx8 project I'm doing . You've been tagged into my build a couple of times due to my interchiller system I have created for mine . I will say that I'm doing a couple of changes to it though because I can lol and it will make a huge difference to the boost spread over the front face of the intercooler which in turn will yield better cooling. Looking real fit and healthy too mate ! Just wanted to say that you have inspired me in more areas than just cars , I'm also working out again as a result of seeing you just take life and wring it's neck in all areas . This is 100% correct. Chromoly chassis made with thinner wall tubes will have more flex and compliance but will match the strength.
That Dahm Rob is one upping the 5 rotors with a "12" rotors!
