1.Undo the shifter knob 2.Take silver side panels off by lifting the end tip up- and slide aft and up as to not pop the white clamps off. 3. Open cup holder and pull up from there- no need for prying..Ever!! Especially with a screwdriver.
I have the door panel pry tools (big and small) with round edges to do what the screw driver does. I am a detailer and was detailing her car is250, the cup holder would not fully open because of something stuck. open. Toyota wanted 100 from her to take it apart, she declined. After watching your video, I took it apart and put back together in 10 minutes. It was a "Chapstick" that dropped down in/ behind. pulled it out and made her day. This is one of the most uncomfortable videos I can watch and I've seen decapitation videos... taking that metal screw driver to that beautiful wood is just plain nuts i would never hurt my baby like that!!!
Good video but it's way easier if you take out the 2 grey trim pieces out first, it makes the wood come out easier, when you take out the wood first it makes these 2 pieces tighter, I don't really see I huge deal with using a screw drive just be carful and put put tape on the wood if you want to be extra carful

Thanks man. The innards of my garage door opener got stuck underneath the cup holder when I flipped back the lid to retrieve it. Since I obviously couldn't get into my house for a screwdriver I was able to Macgyver it with a credit card and nail clippers. Took a bit of patience to get it all back together, but no scratches :)

What part do I use to replace that cigarette socket with a better 12v accessory socket with a more full outside cylinder unlike the original that has large holes and two prongs sticking up from the middle?
best way to do this is with your hands. the screwdriver will leave marks on the plastic. start with the two side pieces. Put your finger under the tip towards the back, lift it up a little, then pull back. Then you can pull off the center piece by gripping where you opened the compartment. Same spot he grips in the video

theweniscoqui Unfortunately, I have since sold my Lexus. I promise I would if I still had the car! Also at the time I made this video, I believe that I removed the nav/display/radio shortly after. I know nothing about cars so I found instructions either on youtube or on a forum (it's been too long for me to remember which). I'm sure you'll be able to find some resources to show you how to do it, bc I know I didn't figure it out on my own
man... the amount of times you slipped and the screw driver was just running over the trim pieces, either the silver piece which is you scratch that doesnt get fixed easy and then the wood.. the would be polishing hell getting that scratch out.

I just viewed this video out of curiosity. When I saw that screwdriver prying on those parts, I almost lost it! I have only 25K on my 2007 (purchased Sep 2006) IS350 and it is in showroom condition. I thought I was just being anal figuring most people don't care that much about their vehicles..... until I started reading the other comments. Now it seems I'm not all that anal. Either that or I AM anal but justifiably so considering the type of vehicle we're talking about.
