So it actually is possible to put the metal pins back in when you install it but it’s kinda hard. If you’re doing it in your car like I was you need to also take off the center console to remove the first trim he mentions at 0:45. It’s pretty simple to remove the center console there’s other videos that show it. If you’re going to put the metal pins back in you have to close the lid and move it to its default position which is just closed over completely the console. You have to keep it closed because that’s how it’s actually supposed to be lined up with the pins. Then you do have to push really hard for the pins to get back into place. I started with my fingers and then used the rubber end of my wrench to push them completely back in. If anyone needs to visually see this lmk maybe I’ll make a video if I decide to take mine apart again. But it is possible to put the pins back in.
Please could you make a video of putting back the pins or send me of it personally. Its been says i couldnt manage to put back the pins nor did any of the mechanics!
When putting the pins back in - make sure the metal ring in the round plastic hinge piece is oriented the correct way…this is what makes the pins hard to go in. You can slide a screw driver in and spin the metal piece around so that the oval slot for the pin is oriented correctly. When you get it, the pin should go in without much force at all.
For anyone trying to get the pins back in it is nearly impossible to even align the holes and i even tried to hammer a bit and no go. Put the armrest without the metal clips and is holding and functioning just fine. The pins are in without the metal clips.
Dont waste your time putting the pins back in, just take the metal clips out of the hole and put the pins in without them, save you headache and time it works the same
If anyone else can’t get those 2 steel pain in the a$$ pins back in after removing the lid: I found a solution thank god! I found a 1/4” bolt 1” long at home depot for .57 cents that works PERFECTLY!!! I’ll post a pic if I can. If not, PM me and I’ll send.
