    All my AS3X units are crashed that's because I built an entire business just rebuilding and repairing brand new ARF's that were crashed by folk who did not know better - that said and my disdain for Spektrum aside can you just stop buying the same planes I do, I swear we are 10 for 10 lol. I am vacuum molding a 2 seat canopy (this is supposed to be a F-16B, they even added the additional ejection placards) and putting the more scale longer wing tip tracks or longer sidewinders. I am convinced I can devise a practical landing gear that looks the part for this thing, lets just hope BG gets my F-16 to me while I'm still passionate about it. Another full build vid done! Thanks Brian and creew

    I bought this.... (I’m not sure what to call it. EPO foam in the shape of an F-16?) before Brian posted this video. Mine came as a Kit instead of the PNF version I thought I ordered. No motor, no esc, no servos... a day after the build, now I’m grateful the control horns were already on and they included pushrods.
    If this EDF survives the maiden and the belly landing I’ll be blown away. No chance in hell the nose cone and wing mounted rockets survive the first landing.
    Sorry ArrowsRC, Horizon Hobby, Freewing and Flightline, I strayed. It won’t happen again.

      The other thing is that with edf's I allways give em a real good look over because of the strong suction thru thier body's. Rc saylors maybe didnt do this? The wires getting sucked or unplugged in flight isnt a new problem with edf's

    Been using gyros with self level, adjustable setup from transmitter long before Spektrum showed up for the party, acted like they invented it and then charge twice as much. Frsky SR6 gyro/receiver is about $30. Works with Radiomaster or Jumper multi-mode 16 channel transmitters with color LCD screens for about $200. Fully adjustable gains and gyro setup from transmitter. Oh and these radios can also work with Spektrum receivers and gyros including Spektrums "forward programming" setup from transmitter. Nothing against Spektrum other than the price.
    Been looking at this Eachine F-16 for awhile and your review is the first I have seen. Love the looks of it but frankly there is a lot of 64mm PNP stuff that is about the same or close price point that make this less attractive. Right now I would go for the T7A which is less money and so far looks a bit better than this eachine bird.

    • @txkflier
      @txkflier 3 года назад

      FrSky's S#R gyros suck compared to Spektrum's. They'll self-level, but they don't have bank-limiting to keep your plane from getting upside-down. You'd think with the calibration process you have to go through that the S#R's would know when the wing is vertical. I ended up having to decrease the throws to about 40% to keep my plane from getting upside-down if I accidentally held the stick over too long.

    Whenever you need more throw, go out on the servo arm instead of in on the control horn. The further the pushrod is from the control surface, the better..

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  3 года назад

      MORE THROW (less precision)...
      Out on the Servo Arm

    • @txkflier
      @txkflier 3 года назад

      @@BrianPhillipsRC
      1. Shortening the control horn can lead to flutter because the control surface can exert more force on the pushrod.
      2. When you move the pushrod in on both the servo and control horn, it doesn’t travel as far and any slack becomes a larger percentage of the total travel.
      3. You’ll get the same throw with a 3/4” horn and 3/4” servo arm as you’ll get with a 3/8” horn and a 3/8” servo arm, but the force applied to the pushrod will be half as much with the 3/4” horn and arm.
      4. The shorter the control horn, the more leverage the control surface will have over the linkage.

    The sales blurb for this says that the wings are quick attach and removal - I don't think you need to glue them just push fit - I am thinking I might use some Magnets to hold the wing in place.... mind you it is so small why not do what you have and glue it ...

      If you can fly planes, fixed wing, this plane is pretty easy...just not gonna have a long shelf life, since it's a belly lander. My issue with belly landers, is that they necessarially get beat up every time you fly them.
      Are you wanting something EASY to fly, there's this F-15 might be a BIT better choice for a non-plane flier...

      Are you insane? Open the box and fly it
      The safe system works really good, just make sure you have the elevator flaps tilted up like 30 ° or it will nosedive and rather more wind than less is better so you can land it at walking speed without much effort

    • @BrianPhillipsRC

      This is a different plane, for a bunch of reasons...
      1) 4S vs 6S
      2) 70mm (or 80mm) vs 50mm
      3) Retracts vs No Gear
      4) Weight
      5) Cost
      It's not really a good comparison at all. If the Eflite 70mm or 80mm were no gear, it would be more similar.

      @@BrianPhillipsRC Actually, I was referring to the 64mm 4S version I got on Horizon Hobby clearance for $129.99. I think they're at @ $179. now. Anyway, they look about same size. This has stick in gear, but I plan to fly hand toss., with no gear. lol. Anyway, I thought you flew one of these. It already has a Spectrum 636B receiver with safe,(that made hard to pass for $130) so it's comparable what you did, only it's tuned for the F16, and it sounds like you aren't through dialing that receiver in, to work with the F16 flight characteristics. I know it's 64mm vs 50mm, but looked awful close in size, although this Eachine F16 looks smoother, a real looker!
      Thanks for all you do,

    Hey Brian, I was on the fence about getting this (or the F18, since they're listed on BG as using 1300-1500, battery sizes that I don't fly) until I saw your videos flying the planes on 3S/4S 2200. Your referral link goes to the PNP version, but I'd prefer to get the kit version (gonna drop in an FMS motor and an Avian esc), do you still get the referral from BG if I use the link to get the kit version?

    23:57. I have a theory that these companies bought out some molds from companies that went out of business, hence the phantom landing gear molded section. I have an Ares p51 and my grandfather has the Volantex 768-1 p51. They are pretty much identical p51 airplanes. I would bet that maybe this f16 was made by a different company and theirs might have had a real wheel for the landing gear. I think Volantex and Eachine are made in the same factory.

      @txkflier 3 года назад +1

      I start out with 30, 40, and 50 percent gyro gain for aileron, elevator, and rudder. If I feel like it needs more, I'll increase all of them by 10% until I start to see the wingtips oscillate when I stop a roll or at higher speeds. Once I see oscillation, I decrease them by 5% until it quits. Generally, the ailerons will oscillate first, followed by the elevator, and then the rudder. That's why I use 10% more on the elevator than the ailerons and 10% more on the rudder than the elevator. When setting up a gyro, you must make sure it corrects in the proper direction. If you raise a wingtip, the aileron on that tip should deflect upward. And if you raise the tail, the elevator should deflect upward. IOW, the gyro must move the surface in the same direction that you moved it.
