Cloverland Dairy gave out promotional plushy cows like the one in their commercial. My mom got one and gave it to little brother. I think it was 1965-'66.My brothe loved it so much he took it EVERYWHERE with him. He still has it, even though it is tattered and mended..
I never knew this was done by Jim Henson, but watching it now it's kind of obvious. The cow's facial expressions are very similar to Rowlf, the piano playing dog.
My pop knew this jingle and would sing it to us kids back in the ‘70’s. I sent this to him while on the phone and he laughed so hard! A commercial that was remembered for over 50 years!
Cloverland is not a farm, They are a dairy. They buy milk from the dairy farms, process and bottle it. They used to sell it both in stores or deliver to your door. They now only sell in stores, but we used to see commercials for Cloverland and Green Spring (the other major dairy) on TV when I was growing up in Baltimore.
NO, The Cloverland dairy was on Dulaney Valley Road... The plant was on Monroe street, Owned by Ralph Kemp (royal farm stores owners) and he also owned Cloverland! .... my father and his brother retired from there before the move to loch raven

It's not a costume, but a puppet performed against a blue screen. Multiple puppeteers operate it to control the head and legs. Through video editing, the blue screen is replaced with a scrolling background that hides the puppeteers even better. Because it was cheaper to do the effect on video than on film, it was shot and edited on tape and then transferred back to film for distribution.
Back then, telephone numbers would include the first two numbers as letters, in this case, the letters N and O. The phone company would use a word (in this case NOrth) to remind people which letters to dial.

Aw, this is adorable!
My father started working for Cloverland Dairy back in 1983-ish. He'll be retiring in a couple years, damn time flies
My dad as there from the 50s to the 80s
My father turned 3 in 1965 because he was born in 1962
I'd hope he'll be retiring after 45 years damn.
Dave?
@@chrismcd818 yeah brother don't know why I didn't get a notification on here
My dad used to take me to Cloverland Dairy when I was very little and I remember this fondly
I grew up watching this commercial .Even had the cow, lol. I was even able to find a cow for my daughter
I have this stuck in my head!!!
I like the way it dances.
Weird To Think The 5 Year Olds Who Saw This On Tv Are Now In Thier Late 50s to Early 60s
That Is A Cute Cow.... :3
Whatever you’re thinking, don’t.
The tune is an adaption of Annie Get Your Gun's "Doin' What Comes Natur'lly".
Now thats what i call a tap dance master!
i am sold !

Imagine kids who ask their parents to buy that brand of milk because a red tap dancing Muppet cow told them to.
This is a really cute and wholesome ad, but I can't help but be annoyed by the use of a bull to advertise milk.
That's a cow.

One of Jim Henson’s earliest commercials.
Wilkins coffee and esskay?
No, the cloverland cow commercial
Wilkins coffee It is from 1955
@@alextavalesthemuppetmaniac5607 This one was made in color, what it says is that it was recorded sometime from 1960-1965
I don't think that's a real cow. It would be too hard to teach a cow to tap dance, especially to the beat of a song.
Almost Everything in Jim Henson’s Commercials Is A Puppet
Not going to lie, that banjo was the best pleasure
If you grew up in Baltimore in the 1960s that last line is etched in your mind.
Catchy tune
I am glad they ask you to do it unless you have a cow.
Help me I got addicted to the commercial
Same
That is just cute
My fav commercial from my youth. I AM the Red Hefer!
Nowadays, they've joined forces with another Maryland dairy-Green Spring Dairy, to be exact.
And own Royal Farms convenience stores.
They also bought Royal Dunloggin Dairy.
Since Jim Henson only did the puppetry, who sang this song?
wonderful!!!
That cow is a bonafide bovine tap dancer.
Used in Cloverland Dairy (1965-1996) and Cartoon Network (1997-2004, 2005-2016), August 9 2004 - August 9 2016
Cartoon Network 20th Birthday and Cartoon Network 30th Birthday (1992-2012, 1992-2022)

Wait: so the cow produced the eggs as well?
Cows are mammals. Chickens lay eggs. It would be weird to see a cow laying an egg, tho.
Every time he says the No.9 2222, it almost sounds like he says 22222
Cloverland owns Royal Farm Stores
Wow I never see a dairy farm commercials before.
Creepy!
It’s north 9, 2222!
Is the Cloverland Factory on Kirk Avenue still open?
u mean Monroe?
Somewhere, Gladys the Cow is weeping. This could've been her!
Why is she?
The discrepancy between what actually goes on at dairy farms and this commercial is frightening.
Mind you, the dancing bovine couldn't give milk even if it wasn't a puppet. That's a bull.
Sounds like Joe Raposo.
Did someone call that number
Moo-ve along now.
How did u make the cow
I didn’t think this RUclipsr made it
