    In MG1 Ren was at first the Prosecuter + Judge and the Hostage/Deliquent was the "anonymous Money Game" which he blamed + judged ...but as the Money Game got eyes it wasn´t "anonymous" anymore and he realized "We´re all part of this old Money Game" = including himself..so he couldn´t fulfill his final role as Executor unless when executing himself.
    That is for me MG1 "The Introduction"
    In MG2 Ren explains how the Money Game is played.
    That is for me MG2 "The Explaination"
    In MG3 Ren shows what the Money Game can do with one´s life.
    That is for me MG3 "The Ramification"

    My take on the first video (for what it's worth): The guy in the chair is one of the leaders. politician or CEO or something. Ren goes through a bunch of options for killing him. Starting with the rope, then faked a gun to his head, then the bat. But the guy can't see it. Eventually he gives him eyes, and he stops himself from getting burned. Then Ren turns the mirror on himself, and realizes that he's just as much of a part of the money game, and burns himself.

    My initial reaction was the same as yours, 'fuck". I sat there, with my jaw dropped and fuck was all I could mutter out. I can't even lie, Ren, has changed my perspective on life. I don't get upset like I use to and I enjoy the little moments more. He's really made my life better and in perspective, with just his words.

  • @geofthompson3844

    It's important to remember the word WE. He constantly says that we are all guilty of being part of the money game. So he's blaming himself too.

  • @sigally
    @sigally 11 месяцев назад +24

    Ren's MG series is very thought provoking, which is likely intentional. I've never met 2 people who have the exact same value when it comes to money which is why so many people have different perspectives of MG 1,2 and 3. For me, it doesn't say that money isn't important, it's saying that the ultra rich and powerful control us regular people (in the middle we sleep). If we want fairness and change we need to wake up, put aside the division of the stupid sh*t that doesn't really affect our lives, come together as we really want the same things. We want a comfortable life without the struggle of being broke or poor.

    I've been waiting for a reactor to point out 45 being a reference to the 45th president! Yall are the first 😊 the whole song reminded me of Trumps upbringing more than Bidens, however. Trumps dad hated him and told him he wasn't shit unless he was the richest, most powerful... Trump is very "mine mine gimmie." Not saying the Bidens are any better.

    • @CreativePhotoWS
      @CreativePhotoWS 11 месяцев назад

      Yup. Crazy how someone can see Biden here when a Trump comparison is far closer and $2billion from the Saudis to Kushner far closer to ‘selling arms in Iran’. But people see what they want to see.

And that is the obvious. One of the most corrupt families . ever in the history of the United States and that is the Biden family. It's crazy how bad TDS can be in some .

    So, some of the symbolism from the beginning of MG3 kinda just clicked for me. Ren is going ham on the keys, then he gets replaced. The music (the money game) pauses. At a loss for what to do, he wanders away and reflects (literally/figuratively) and sees that he's bound and hooded. Then he takes off his restraints, the music/game resumes, and he dives right into his role as an observer and narrator, bringing us the story of Jimmy. The music continues until he stops it to deliver his anti-MG monologue, and then it resumes for the finale where we see the culmination of the MG for Jimmy.

  • @davidconnolly6690
    @davidconnolly6690 2 месяца назад +2

    When he pours petrol on himself it struck me as reminiscent of - "a crop of Malcolm Browne's famous photograph of the self-immolation of Thích Quảng Đức, a Vietnamese Buddhist monk, in Saigon in 1963." AKA the cover of the Rage Against The Machine debut album of the same name. And I'm sure Zacharias Manuel de la Rocha would be cool with that!
    John F. Kennedy said of that photograph, "No news picture in history has generated so much emotion around the world as that one."
    My quote - "No young rapper in history has generated so much emotion around the world as that one."

    Y'all are pretty good at finding meanings in what the songs are about!
    It's also important with MG3 that it's also a problem generationally. Our parents (maybe with good intentions) push us to do more and more and play into the money game without thinking about what it does to a person.

    The nursery rhyme was referring to this little known fact;
    "The origin of the Shell name can be traced back to the seashells that Marcus Samuel senior imported from the Far East during the late 19th Century. When his sons Marcus junior and Samuel were looking for a name for the kerosene that they were exporting to Asia, they chose Shell."
    Leave it to Ren... 👍💯

    I part 1, I think Ren is the narrator, explaining that we're all part of this, we participate in it.
    But the guy in the chair is also Ren. Just trying to make some music, there's threats and struggle all around him, attacking him. Then his eyes get opened, by a particularly violent struggle moment.
    I think the end is that we have to burn that greed out of our collective minds

    In part 1, I always believed that the guy in the chair was tied and controlled and faceless to represent the way that the general populace that he represents are controlled by the things Ren is talking about. He drew eyes on the faceless representation of the people as if to say "There, now I've told you the truth, I've opened your eyes to it."

    I know it's probably hard to remember with all the different videos you react to, but you guys did a reaction to Ren's tribute to his friend that committed suicide, a song called For Joe in which Ren also plays piano (on a keyboard).

    He's both characters, though he doesn't realize it. the first clue is just after the first chorus, he says stop, and then seems surprised at the result. upon realizing his newfound power, he becomes smug, and slaps him with the gloves. Later, when Ren goes in for the 'kill', the audio gets muffled as he leans in. That's expected of course, it being close quarters, but as he finishes, he hands him back the guitar, and walks around the rear, now behind him, standing strait up and fully in the open, he gives one final line, but... it's still muffled. Furthermore, as he hands him back the guitar, for the first time, Ren isn't the focus of the video, in fact, he's not even in frame, even leaving the scene entirely. Or did he? We never see Ren give that final line, instead we're focus solely on the chair, strumming away, it seems as though that final line is given from behind the hood. As Ren returns to burn the system, he finally gets it. Now that he has eyes, he can finally point the mirror at himself. Ren spends the whole video trying to show the victim, but it's not until he gives him eyes that Ren can finally see. That realization shows on his face, as it turns into defeat. We're all part of this ole money game.

    I love how deep and thoughtful you are in these reactions and not scared to say you are not sure what a certain metaphor meant. What I'm experiencing watching you watching Ren is an incredible embodiment of what talks about - before you and me discovered him we could be shouting at each other from two sides of the fence, but now, even though we would probably still very strongly disagree on vary many issues, I clearly feel like you are my folks and I love you guys.
    There is no left and no right, but maybe in the middle we are no longer sleeping.

    Yesterday I saw the interview with REN on the channel from Chris Liepe. REN got the same question from Chris, "what is the song about". Answer is: You need to think about it, everybody has his own story and own questions about it. Switch-on your brain and think about the Money Game and everybody is part of the Money Game.

    Remember the good old days when they pumped out up to 12+ ads during programs back in the 80’s on the boobtube. We used to count how many they’d get in a commercial break. That was the original T-800 of programming. Now it’s probably a Rev-9 program if not something newer.

    I think the bagged guy with no eyes represents the average person in the money game. Ren is the controller in power with wealth. Ren draws the eyes on the everyman so he/she can see the truth. Then the everyman fights back against the oppression. Ren realizes the jig is up and decides he no longer has power and offs himself due to guilt.
