    I was bent on getting a natural diamond as well but after talking with my partner about it I decided to go with a lab diamond. Got a fantastic quality diamond for the same price I was going to pay for the natural one I was looking at.
    I had the same thoughts as you on the resale value argument.

    Love your video! I ordered a lab diamond with the highest 4Cs I can afford - 1.2 ct, D, vvs1, super ideal heart and arrow cut, platinum band after watching your video. Under 4K tax included. The same 4C diamond ring costs 3.5-4 times at Costco. Can’t wait to get it on my finger! It will arrive in 2 weeks.

    Thank you for these videos , they helped me to decide on a lab diamond eternity wedding band just recently . My engagement ring is a natural mined diamond along with my original eternity diamond band . However my husband chose a rather large almost 4 CTW diamond eternity band which is 4 MM in width, don’t get me wrong it’s beautiful , it’s just to big to wear as a daily band with my engagement ring .I think it’s the type of band that is much nicer worn on its own . So I had been wanting a much thinner , smaller carat weight diamond eternity band that is close to the size of the band on my engagement ring which is about 2 MM in width. After seeing your videos along with many others , I decided to save some money and go for a thinner lab diamond eternity band and I have to say I see no difference from the lab diamonds vs my natural diamond band . Even my local jeweler couldn’t see the difference until I told him . Had I known about lab diamonds 10 years ago ,I totally would have been just fine with not having a natural diamond engagement ring or wedding band , like you stated , I never plan on reselling either and because they are too sentimental and are chemically the same as natural diamonds .I feel they are still precious stones you can hand down to your grandchildren some day , just like people do with their natural diamonds . I see lab diamonds as well as Moissanite becoming increasingly popular with the couples of today choosing it over diamond . I’m still not quite sure how I feel about Moissanite long term , but I think lab diamonds are amazing and if people really took the time to educate themselves on it instead of assuming it’s fake , I think a lot more couples would certainly choose it over natural diamond for the savings alone ! It’s kind of a no brainer to be honest lol . Great informative video ! Thanks for sharing

I can’t pass it down to my kids because it’ll have No $ value. God forbid something happens and you need a little extra cash. A natural diamond takes a billion years to form. A lab diamond takes 30 days. In a sense, a Lab diamond is a dime a dozen and they are realistically not limited in supply. So from an emotional point of view, it a big deal. Which would you rather have, a Picasso original or a painted copy?

    • @00dfm00
      @00dfm00 Год назад +1

      The painting analogy is good. One could even use chemically identical paints, the exact same cloth material, the exact same brush strokes using the exact same quantity of paint which could even be done by a specialized printer - and yet, there will always be the emotional appeal and therefore the original will always be more valuable. For paintings this value is because it was done by the originator; for diamonds it's also because it was done by the originator - Earth.

    • @helisoma
      @helisoma Год назад

      it's not exactly the same analogy...although Picasso could be the earth but since the chemistry is the same it's like Picasso is the chemistry so it's Picasso in the lab 😁

    I got a lab diamond for my fiancee, didn't even consider natural - the savings were just too good and they look (and are) the same. I don't think the higher resale argument matters.
    However in defence of natural diamonds there's something to be said about 'the authentic'. A stone that's been in the ground for over 1 billion years feels more special than something that was made in a lab a few months ago. If the diamonds could be mined ethically and the price was the same, I would always get the natural diamond over the lab. It's not simply the material composition of something that determines it's value. Yes you can say this is just propaganda or 'feelings' but your getting a diamond ring - you're already buying into something that isn't objective.

    I’m with you on the resale I don’t buy jewelry to resell but let’s look at yours, the natural was $7,300 where lab was $2,100. If you get nothing for the lab grown you are out $2,100 and realistically what do you think that you will get if resell the natural what will you get? I doubt you’ll see 50% return so you are looking at a $3,650 loss so what is the better financial decision?

      I agree with you. I think the price of lab grown diamonds should be a lot cheaper, like in the hundreds of dollars range because they are becoming a lot more cheaper every year to produce. So you’re getting ripped off the same as buying a natural diamond. A natural diamond can be passed down to kids or family and have a monetary and sentimental value while a lab diamond will only have sentimental value. Why pay big bucks for a lab diamond when the whole Jewlery market won’t take returns, upgrades, or even insure a lab diamond. I would love lab diamonds if they held some $ value and didn’t actually go “Down”in value.

I think in another four years, a 1 carat lab grown will be 22%, and a 2 carat will be 10%.

And anyone trying to argue resell or investment value haven't actually tried to resell their diamond engagement ring. Investment diamonds exist but they aren't made into jewelry as they're millions of dollars on their own with specs that are truly rare.

To each it’s own I think both are great and pleasing to the eye. The future for natural or lab diamond is not determined and both can lose it value drastically or gain it value however with natural diamond the chances are lower due to the rarity or quantity. Appeal is out of the question now since we made lab diamond to look as stunning or even better than natural diamond.

But, as you pointed out: Who 's in the market of selling a ring that's a symbol of love for your significant other? Why? And because lab grown diamonds are less expensive, one can go ahead a purchase a larger one initially and be done with it.

    The significance of buying a natural diamond comes down to personal preference and what is of value to an individual. Although a lab is also a pretty diamond, for me I only feel the preciousness of a natural diamond and do not feel that about a lab diamond. I personally would rather have a God created stone over a man made (grown) stone. I feel one way when I look at one and not when I look at the other. At the end of the day, whether you buy a lab diamond due to the low price or a natural diamond that is over a billion years old doesn't really matter. What matters is what makes you happy. To one it's the size of the diamond which is not important to me and to another its where it comes from.

    Diamond isn’t about the price. It’s the experience of owning one of the most unique gifts from the earth you can not create in any other way .
    You can definitely replicate one in a laboratory though.
    If you appreciate diamonds for what they are rather than what you spend on them , even a lower quality natural diamond is something to appreciate.
    Why?
    They can be literally hundreds and hundreds of billions of years old.
    Not one diamond is the same as the next.
    They are formed in the most extreme circumstances that nothing else can withstand.
    They have no limit to their longevity and their quality continues flawlessly forever unlike anything else natural forming or made made.
    Laboratory diamonds are amazing and they really are a great way to own a diamond without a huge price tag.
    As I said it’s a massive price difference between the two, but that’s not the thing that makes natural diamonds so much more worth owning over a laboratory diamond.
    It’s the whole aspect of a natural diamonds existence that makes it so much more worth owning one. No matter how big or small it is or it’s grade on a chart.

    Diamonds don't hold their value though, that is the biggest problem. They are SO overpriced it's ridiculous. Total ripoff, especially when lab diamonds are just as good, last just as long, and are a fraction of the price. You may get lucky and sell your natural diamond ring to someone privately for half of what you paid, but usually it's much less. And it will get harder and harder now that lab diamonds are becoming more popular, and alternate stones such as gems and Moissanite. Your money - spend it wisely.
