Spartan Kong Country not going to happen, sorry. The “magic” they caught with Halo 1-reach is no longer there. Mainly because Bungie were too STUPID to realise what fantastic long term potential Halo had, and they wanted to go on to Destiny, also EA were kinda interfering with the development process for example Bungie wanted to make Halo 3 Pc inclusive but EA said no. They left Halo and EA to escape control and work on Destiny. Thing is, they went to Activision, who of course did the same what EA did but x5 worse. @@SbCasll Nah Infinite won't capture what old halo could. The multiplayer is even going to be free to play... trust me everyone will love halo infinite for a couple months at most.
For real man… I feel truly blessed that I was a teen during the golden age of gaming before corporations ruined everything. I still come back and watch this video and others like it to compare it to modern games and every time I still get chills. Just proves it was real. Halo used to be amazing.
In one of the more recent Halo novels it shows that the Master Chief and Johnson's friendship goes back over 20 years. In that book, Johnson was a friend and mentor to the 15 year old Master Chief during an early operation against the Covenant. Johnson actually had a hand in the Master Chief's promotion to the rank of Master Chief.
@@alexandreparent1251 Actually it was a pretty good novel. There's A LOT of Halo novels and they are all considered canon. Fact is the games never give us a timeline for how long they knew each other. The book takes place in 2526, about a year after the war begins. The games start in 2552. Johnson was a main character in the novel Contact Harvest which features the first battle with the Covenant on the planet Harvest which IS part of Halo canon. One of the main bad guys is Tartarus, the Brute Chieftain from Halo 2 that was killed by Johnson and the Arbiter at the end of the game. It also shows the story of the rise to power of the Prophets of Truth, Mercy and Regret. I really suggest you read the Halo novels if you haven't, they are so incredible and add so much to the story. The games definitely include elements of them into the story too and not just the 343 games. That opening bit in Halo 3 where the Master Chief is falling out of the sky and Cortana has a voiceover??? Cortana's voiceover about getting to choose the Chief references a scene in Halo: The Fall of Reach. Not the animated movie thing, that was just an adaptation of like half of the book at most but the novel itself.
I watched that opening cutscene last night and cried. The music, the visuals of master chief falling from space, it brought back memories I didn’t even know I had

same, that part always stuck out to me and I don't know why. The combination of him getting up as the music's intensity increases which probably symbolises the fact that the hope of humanity stands again. It's such a simple, but a definitive "halo" moment which no one else has or can replicate. (Maybe 343 can, their 2019 discover hope trailer was pretty good).

Watching this again after they just included "The Coin" in the Halo Tv show. I had to watch this scene, still one of my favorites from the games. Jen Taylor is such a good VA!
This shit literally brings tears to my eyes... Not full blown crying but just tears lol... I was a child like 10 yr old playing this when it came out.... Its crazy how these kinds of emotions can hit you 😭
Just realized that before halo 4, the game was treating john like a human and, as shown in this cutscene, Johnson knows how John is attached to Cortana and treats the question about her fairly delicately as he lets chief take back cortana's empty chip. Halo 4 is where the game begins treating him like a machine, except for Thomas Laskey. After Halo 5, the game completely treats him like a machine and strips him of his humanity and gives us only one goal to retreve Cortana but it doesn't carry the emotion back when people around him knew his connection to her, Locke has only one goal, retreve Chief.
Halo literally set and maintained the bar for masterful and impactful storytelling in a video game. Little detail: I love how Chief doesn't let go of Johnson's arm until he takes Cortana's chip back... It fits really well with her narrated intro to the scene... And how a Spartan would probably act given both psychological conditioning to be a perfect soldier (maintaining situational control even just after regaining consciousness), and likely unconditional human emotions left over, especially in such extreme circumstance (his care/need for Cortana for mixed reasons of tactical/strategic practically and emotional fulfilment in a certain area naturally unfulfilled by his conditioning (real emotional connection).
The luck quote is so relevant to what makes Master Chief so engaging for the player/viewer. Given what season 2 for the show is going to do, I sincerely doubt it'll be anywhere near as impactful of a reason. Spartans are all the best of the best, making Chief not as impressive as he is... but he's that lone soldier to survive a war, win or lose. That simple and understandable concept is what makes him special.
@@whaleshey yeah when I played H4 I knew 5 minutes in that they wrecked him as a character. To be honest though they unfucked that in halo infinite. He is more stoic and silent.

The music variation at 2:40 when Johnson asks where Cortana is, it reminds me of this kind of WW2 music in Saving Private Ryan or Band of Brothers, so atmospheric and powerful
I get goosebumps every time
Man, I'm 33 years old and shedding tears right now seeing this. My childhood, our childhood. 2007 - 2023 and the memories of trailers launch before somewhere like on late 06.
2:23
at this part, every time I hear it, I get an unexplainable feeling. Somewhat nostalgic, but the music makes it seem so weird.
same, that part always stuck out to me and I don't know why. The combination of him getting up as the music's intensity increases which probably symbolises the fact that the hope of humanity stands again. It's such a simple, but a definitive "halo" moment which no one else has or can replicate. (Maybe 343 can, their 2019 discover hope trailer was pretty good).
Why am tearing up from nostalgia man :(
This was the most coolest video game intro when I was 5 years old at the time, 13 years later the intro still gives me chills
As a child it's about the coolness Factor, then as an adult it's about the gravity of the situation.
So elegantly put.
The best intro to any video game. I really miss when halo was in its prime. Reach and 3 were among the greatest games I have ever played
God everytime i hear that intro song i get the most bitter and beautiful nostalgia ever espicially the part at 1:09 and 2:18 ,u know ? Every single note in this intro is epic
You've probably found it right now. But I think the song is "Luck" from Halo 3.
Chills every time
0:17 when that choir kicks in. Brings back memories of yore
This music..i..it played in the new halo trailer.
But important part of the speech were deleted
Who’s here after that amazing E3 trailer for Halo Infinite!?
Yep
It's amazing that they brought back the opening music for the trailer at the end
Me
What do you think of it now that it's out?
Here after the Infinite demo. Halo is back and so is the Master Chief.
Well,Johnson was right.he did land on something as stubborn as he is.
This was my whole childhood i get chills watching this now
Imagine,2007,you came back from the midnight launch and put the disc, wait for the download and spend the whole night beating the campaign and playing multiplayer the next day. Beatiful memories..
What I’d give for it to be Christmas in 2007. Just got my 360, snacking on great grandma’s cookies she made me, and watching this for the first time again.
Watching this again after they just included "The Coin" in the Halo Tv show.
I had to watch this scene, still one of my favorites from the games.
Jen Taylor is such a good VA!
the audio is incredible
I still get goosebumps honestly
Everything about this scene is perfect.
Literally my favorite intro to a game ever
id love a remake of all the halos (1,2,3) with some next-gen graphics
Some people just dont have respect for classics...Its because of ppl like u that they made a new duke nukem game. Please leave the classics aloneO_O.
dominicwalli It was because of people like him that they HD upgraded "Halo Combat Evolved". I thank him for that so leave him be please.
YOUR WISH HAS COME TRUE
NOVEMBER 11th 2014
aaaaannnnd... 3 is no where in sight
These games will stay what they are now, a fucking legend of gaming history! And that is good
This scene introduced me into the halo franchise...
Amen 🙏🙌
I miss this time so much. All my hair stands on end everytime I watch this.
17 years...
For a brick, he flew pretty good.
First mission
Jhonson: We're not leaving him here.
117: Yeah, you're not.
Final mission
117: I'm getting you out of here.
Jhonson: No, you're not...
Amazing. I played this campaign through more times than I can remember. Now I wanna go back and play it again.
Cortanas monologue is goosebumps. Best era of gaming.
She wasn’t just talking to The Chief, Bros.
2:25 my favorite part
Why do you always jump;)
@@samroberts9880 Lol halo 2 bomb
This shit literally brings tears to my eyes... Not full blown crying but just tears lol... I was a child like 10 yr old playing this when it came out.... Its crazy how these kinds of emotions can hit you 😭
Maaaan, I remember when these games had writing that I liked. Turns out that was way more important to my enjoyment than gameplay or graphics.
When I first started seeing 0:42 in 2007, I got sudden goosebumps. This intro always gets me.
God this made me tear up
This beginning still has magic today gives me chills
ohhh boy that intro music took me way back
Halo literally set and maintained the bar for masterful and impactful storytelling in a video game.
Best halo scene ever. Period
Came here after playing halo infinites campaign… it’s not the same 😭 everything was perfect in these first 3 games
Finally someone who fucking agrees with me.
chief talks way too much in the new games. makes him feel a lot less badass
@@whaleshey yeah when I played H4 I knew 5 minutes in that they wrecked him as a character. To be honest though they unfucked that in halo infinite. He is more stoic and silent.
3 was my favorite game
I miss this era and storytelling of halo so damn much.
The dialogue is so perfect. I never got as invested into halo characters as I did in halo 1-3.
