Old school Sepultura with Max and Igor was fire.
Roots was the first CD I bought, brings childhood memories. Sepultura was probably only one band that ended for me after Max left. Well there is Cavalera Сonspiracy now...

Fun fact: I listen to the Arise album EVERY day. And have done since 1991. I'm caught up in the Japanese music scene nowadays but Sepultura (Max/Igor period) are absolutely essential to my mental, and metal, well-being.

This is a legendary band in the metal scene, their first album recorded when they were teens. They have 4 albums that are must listen to in the metal genre: Beneath The Remains/ Arise/ Chaos A.D./ Roots.
Don't forget the double live album Under A Pale Grey Sky.
I like Schizophrenia, too. Productionwise sure not their best, but the energy is amazing.

One of the best mosh pits I participated was at a Sepultura show around 91.
These guys used to practice a lot as in a lot... everyday to make it perfect. That's why they are so good. 5 hours each day for years years. Same with Metallica and Pantera

Sepultura changed my fucking mind on music, and I am eternally grateful for the early days of this band! Pantera was getting me into thrash metal, and once I finished my first listen of Beneath the Remains I was just floored. I have 3 of their records on vinyl, I’d love to have the first records + Roots.

I bought this on VHS when it first came out and played it till the tape fell apart, and was lucky enough to see them on this tour when they came to NY. At this time they were arguably the biggest metal band on the planet. Great reaction.
Arise and Chaos A.D. were instantly favorite albums. Still enjoy them both.

I'll be honest, my first time hearing them too was back in 1999 and it was this album in particular(arise album) that i listened to! My girlfriend thens' brother introduced me to it! And let me tell you, i coukdn't put the headphones down! Lol i listened to all 13 tracks and fell in a trance real quick!😂🤣 thats when i knew metal music was my home!
You should check out Sepultura's more recent drummer Eloy Casagrande -[Drum Cam] Means To An End . He is a machine .

I remember being at a festival in the mid 90's with Channel Zero, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead, Motorhead, Skunk Anansi, Sepultura, The Presidents of the United States, Foo Fighters, David Bowie, Guano Apes, Weezer and a flurry of other legendary names in the lineup and when Sepultura went into intermission, they started to setup the stage to play Ratamahatta, filled the stage with a load of drums and called on everyone from the other bands to come play Ratamahatta with them.
And that awesome moment was only one of many memorable moments during that festival.
Man, I miss those days!

They formed in the early 80's in Brazil. Max (lead singer/guitarist) and Igor (drummer) Cavalera are legends! "Arise" is unarguably one of the greatest thrash metal albums ever written. I said this in a different reactors post...there are 3 songs that are unequivocally perfect as far as thrash goes. And those 3 songs are "Angel of Death" by Slayer, "Holy Wars...the Punishment Due" by Megadeth, and "Dead Embryonic Cells" by Sepultura.

Desperate Cry, Inner Self, Troops of Doom. Can't go wrong with any of those
This is a very, very special live performance for me. In my opinion, this is the peak moment where thrash metal got closest to death metal and no other single thrash metal live performance can ever get close to this by terms of brutality and the pure raw energy that is being thrown into the act itself. They were at their peak at this time, three beast albums after one another and the whole setlist was made of those. Just look at the way they sound and how ferociously they play, Igor's strokes are monstrous, he hits those drums like they owe him money.
You should see the whole concert, its awesome!
