Those knit hats are 100% wool. The red, blue & green are the favorite colors of the Bus Motor Productions team, and the blue & green are custom-dyed. Please bid high to help pay Pete's bills.
thanks Again David , we are going to take them to Pete's fund raising event they should get a high bid for sure or I will bid for them.
@@markgalicic7788 Which color is whose favorite?
@@davidhensley76 I liked them all but blue is my favorite!
Auggie Doggy, Doggie Daddy, and friends be barking today for sure. Nice to see all of enjoying the day.
thanks Robert.
Hi Mark, Ed, & ZZ. Beautiful lumber. As a firewood logger for 37 yrs. 2 foot wide elm splits wonderful. More than 2 ft is gnarly & stringy. We had a 13 wide elm & it split so easy. We cut a lot of elm trees in the early 1980s. Great burning " dry" wood. It pops & sizzle while wet. We found if you let the elm firewood to freeze. It's easy to split it. ( We couldn't afford a wood splitter.) I still get remarks about my broad shoulders. Me & my youngest brother bring in 13 to 15 cords. I had a gas & oil 9 inch chainsaw. ( It went missing. ????) Interesting grain in that lumber. Well. Thanks everyone. I follow Mark Galicic's & Ed Horvath's channels. Both are great. 😍😊😉👍❤️💜🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
thanks Lawrence , if you split that much firewood by hand you should have broad shoulders!
Good evening from Lincolnshire UK.
good evening Andrew.
Mark, if you can't finish sentences it's nothing to worry about. You're just focused on what you're doing. That's a good thing.
that's true.
Nice sawing on an interesting log, Mark. I saw that one board split when it dropped.
Bill
thanks Bill , lots of tension in elm.
I can remember granddaddy telling stories about him sawing logs back in 50’s and 60s so when i seen y’all’s videos i just had to start watching them keep up the videos
thanks Eddie , we sure will.
I enjoy watching your videos. I worked in hardwood mill 20 plus years ago. Clearman carriage and bandsaw.
Your videos are so relaxing to watch
Hello from SE London in the UK....
Hello!
My wife and i were going out to eat the other night. As she was getting ready she said, “ purse-check, phone-check, doggies up, doggies out”. She was really proud of herself for making a funny.
that's great LOL!
That is fun! And you can’t forget to put the tapers back! Thanks for watching the movies! ZZ Mark
Elm stained dark looks like Black Walnut. It was often used in cheaper furniture.
Love your videos back when I was a young I worked at Taylor lumber it was a band mill in Lucasville Ohio I'm 62 years old man hard work
Thanks for a great video, good to see pete 's remarkable progress.
yes it is.
In the 1970s red elm in mn was worth 900 dollars a thousand bdft in log on the landing .
Wow it was priced like walnut.
Thanks for the sawing video. Best to the crew.
thanks Jerry.
I sure love the music you have on here.
That red Elm is some pretty wood
thanks Christina , Happy Birthday!

Slippery Elm. That’s great stuff. Siberian Elm is pretty much indestructible. 👍
yes it is.
Sweet Mark, Dave and I are looking forward to the trip down!
yes we are to , the weather is getting better now.
We had a laser in our research lab along with a warning sign, "do not look into laser with remaining eye."
Love you guys!!!!!❤❤❤
thanks Karen.
I’m a sawyer in SC and I love the AG1, been taking it for 6 months, it will help the gut and energy level
glad to here that Danny , I hope it boost my energy level too.
You saw a nice log ! Also, the edger w/music is a nice touch.
thanks Alan.
I really enjoy watching your videos. I believe I have watched all of them. I saw this on Eddies channel before yours was posted. I am always absolutely entertained. Keep it up you do a great job.
thank you.
Great job guys
thank you.
Extreme wood. Tough, resilient, durable, A first class choice for truck decks or dump interior beds. A dump truck with an elm bottom,, you can drop concrete chunks from a tear out and not dent or ding up the inside of the box.
yes it is.
Good video, Mark Just goes to show, even an ugly, difficult log can make good boards. Really like the music you play during the edger sequence
thank you.
Can't remember doing any elm here but I can't remember much about anything. That'd make some good flooring for a trailer. Happy weekend and God Bless
thanks Lewie , elm makes a strong deck.
@@markgalicic7788 Looks like good stuff! Ours is oak here.
Hi Bus Motor team from Northeast GA, Sawed a small Elm on Band mill it twisted when it dried out Hard to work with then. Hope the deck boards won't do the same thing. Great Job love watching the Circle Mill! John Toccoa GA
thanks John.
Turning u gly beast log into beautiful lumber. Great video guys.
thanks Terry.
You’ll like that AG one I mixed mine with apple juice taste like dessert. Keep up the good work.
thanks Matteo , that sounds good.
Good afternoon from Clearfield Utah USA
good afternoon Brad.
Boomtastic 🤯
My comment is on your engine. I saw a close up of the exhaust coming out of the engine. Your exhaust is oily. There are a few things that will cause the engine to slobber oil like that.
Usually the blower seals will cause that.
Late injector's timing, and exhaust valves out of adjustment , are two cause at some level as well. I don't know how much oil the engine is using, but I recommend that you have it looked at.
Have the crankcase pressure checked, that will tell you more on the heath of the engine.
A tune up maybe that is all that is needed,
Fernando.
From Minnesota so not familiar with red elm, but used to have a sawmill in Jordan MN on the Minnesota River cut 3" x 15" x 16 to 18 ft loading planks (back in the day before skid loaders) out of what we call "piss" elm.
Stringy snd split like the dickens. Had to put bolted straps on the ends. But,man they could hold a load. I believe that elm wears down teeth quickly. Nice vid. Still like the cherry.
Wow that's some heavy wood.
Good job!
thank you.
watching that blade cut those BIG logs, makes me wanna go sharpen my lil ten inch table saw blades.
sawing is sawing lol.
Mark, I like to comment because I know it helps you with your channel.
Been with you for a long time , hope to get something to Kevin to bring down for the fund raiser .
thanks that would be great.
Great Uncle (ca 1872) told me about stripping outer bark to access inner bark and chewed like gum. Also used for wagon beams. Really stout. Jim unmplydplmbr
not sure how it would taste but it's very strong.
Good video Bus Motor Productions
Nice sweatshirt!
I mentioned in Mr. Horvath's video about our dairy barn. Its Rock elm truss and supports. 125 years old and still straight as can be. It was all sawed in great Grandpa's saw mill run by the water wheel. Amazing how things were done in rural America in 1900. Grandpa thinks if the trailer frame is 2" channel then 1 7/8" is the space between the channel legs for the plank to fit inside. (I promised him i would add that in my comment.) Grandpa will be 102 on April 8th his name is Fred Hengst Sr. He wasn't looking for a shout out or anything just you are very kind in your comments and I thought you would like to know who im talking about. Thanks. 'UNLEASH THE DOGGIES!!!'.
yes elm will last forever if you keep it dry , not sure about the 1-7/8 for the trailer. Tell him Happy Birthday from the bus motor crew!
Thank you.
your welcome.
You put the new laser on the mill. It is so much brighter. I noticed it in the last video but I was looking for something else that you hag done to the mill.
nice work ty
thanks Richard.
I really enjoy your videos and on your recommendation I also watch Andruw’s channel. I have decided that I like yours for the narration and Andwuw’s because it doesn’t have any! The Detroit engine music is the common theme.
thanks Steve.
Hello from Germany. Mark, you always explain your work very well. However, my brain goes into knots when I want to quickly convert your unit of measurement to mm/cm. Thanks to you all. Take care and have a nice day
thank you , yes I know what you mean metric to me is the same lol.
I have a conversion app on my phone that gets used a fair amount.
@@markgalicic7788 My School started us on Metric System in the 60's said that metric would replace US standard in mid 70's, Hmm we still have US standard along with metric as secondary. Don't believe it will be going anywhere any time soon.
Gee I like your two garden nowms with their beards, put them through the saw might improve things,
Happy Tuesday Eve 😊
I like it lol!
Speaking of working without a roof, I used to live in a basement without a roof, it was a rear hole.
It is funny I am watching a foreign saw channel it's a tropic area I'm noticing most of the world do not have growth rings very interesting to see
I have watched some of those videos.
Happy birthday to all
Yes!
Hand's, feet and brain work at the same time become a hazardous means of "sometimer's"! I get it way too often 😂
yes the older I get it happens more often lol.
If you are sawing with a bandsaw mill the blade is 1/8" thick. So if you cut 2" boards on the ruler you loose 1/8" and get a board or 1 7/8" thick. It is quick and easy with no math involved.
yes true.
When I was young and unknowing, a neighbor asked if I would split some firewood for him. He had a friend drop off some sections from an elm tree he had removed. I buried three steel wedges in the first one, and had to chop them out with an axe. The stuff never did split. After two hours and a few buckets of sweat I got my wedges back and walked away.
not a good day lol!
I didn't know red elm was that "stringy" with cross-grain! It even sounds different when you're cutting it...almost a "crackling" sound to it.
yes it is.
Thanks!
Thank you Stephen!
Ten thirty in the morning them are nice cover boards for trailer decking, bit of a disaster this morning my old Lincoln genset blew up sparks flames and smoke everywhere, place I was at said they just bought two Lincoln gensets ex milatry and they’d swap one for a Colchester student lathe that’s laying in my workshop with a bit of tooling , took it out of service couple of years ago and it’s single phase deal done this genset has less than a hundred hours on it made in 1971 , it’s a skid unit so I can put it on my pick when needed there even going to deliver it and take the lathe away they can have the old genset and trailer, who says you don’t get lucky some days ,, anyway you guys have a nice day
thanks Alex , that sounds like a good deal for sure.
Elm has an awesome grain, and burns like ironwood...
yes it does.
Just a guess, but the 1 7/8” thickness is probably because the decking slips into a 2” steel c-channel (or similar) that holds it in place (usually on the front and back or sides of the trailer).
that may be true.
Trying to run a sawmill without a chainsaw is like trying to build a house without a hammer!
we had the big saw here not the little trim saw.
Crosby is the best edger I have ever seen by far
yes it's very well built.
You need a battery dewalt grinder with a chainsaw grinding disc used to make statues! Eddie and quickly and safely grind away bark, etc, that the saw missed! Better than using a chain saw.
PS and in the headset Exdie wears get two way communication between Ed and you for safety!
that may be a bit dangerous.
Not much Red Elm in MN, but I have milled American Elm. Other than the fact splitting freshly felled Elm is nigh on impossible I know it loves to twist like and SOB.
yes it moves while sawing.
Another entry for the hammer…’Hammer Time’
yes for sure Richard lol!
the Laser sign is where I wanted the alligator/crocodile to go LOL
good see some dogs down and dogs up for the kids today but no booms
glad the kids liked it today!
Thumbs up
thanks Jeff.
meant @ 28:41 and I am going to call that an Eddie save in my book !! I may have to watch his channel just to see it from his angle, but does look like close call
Hi everyone....
Hi Jakob.
I could see the laser first time
this one is a 50 MW and the old one was a 30 MW
Mark I know you have some questions regarding the Lazer not being seen. I only see it when the end of the log goes back behind the closest set of the first set yellow arms of the waiting log deck. I appears to me that it is related to the angle of the camera to the log. you may see it but we don't always due to that angle.
yes some people can and some can't.
hello Mark & Eddies & ZZ Mark & it's is Randy and i like yours video is cool & Thanks Mark & Eddies & ZZ Mark & Friends Randy Boom Boom Boom Boom Boom Boom Boom Boom
thanks Randy , BOOM!
I didn't know you did Birthday shout outs. My 60th Birthday was on March 28th.
🙄🇨🇦🇺🇲🙏
Happy Birthday James!
Tamarack moves a lot too
never sawed it before.
Love all your videos. Is there an advantage to your circular saw system than using a large band saw system that I have seen? Also, do you ever cut cherry?
Thanks for another fantastic video Mark. Since you are in the entertainment business here on RUclips why don't you and Eddie SWITCH ROLES for 1 video. I'd pay good money to see this snack video!
thank you , that's not a good idea.
Ok you’re the boss!
I always said fresh cut red elm smells fishy, my dad cut a lot of it standing dead and it was bone hard like locust and burnt like it also, great firewood
yes it has a smell for sure.
Atta Boys
thanks Eldon.
I made some picture frames out of red elm. It is different than other hardwoods. It worked well for the frames and would be great for crafts but I will pass on making furniture from red elm.
it's so string and very hard to get smooth for a good finish.
@@markgalicic7788 yes, yes.
Mark, we don't seem to have very much Elm down here in Beaver County, seems like it would be a very nice wood like Locust, nice and hard for burning in my wood burner. I was just wondering how big is this trailer that you're using the decking for? You really have lots of material to work with. Again, I love your videos and the time me and Mark were able to visit with you and the guys! Skip
thanks Skip , not sure how big the trailers are but they want 24 pieces . we hope to see you and mark soon!
Another great video Mark, love it :)
Your circular mill is much faster than all the band saw mills i have seen. Is it normal to have the blade kerf marks on the lumber? Id you slowed down headblock travel or blade rpm would it help? Or is that just the way it looks until it gets run through a planer? Just curious..
Man i am so glad to see Nuts [Pete] recovering as well as he is, it didn't look good at first, all the prayers and love and support surely helped him :)
thanks Barry , yes the circle mills do leave saw marks but will plane out easy.
😎😎👍👍💯💯I have a love (❤❤burn) and hate (😠😠splitting) with Elm.
yes very hard to split into firewood.
It's best when frozen or really cold 🥶
That board cracking was scary bet it was for all of you
yes it was.
Why is the face of the log smooth on initial cut and torn up by bits with sawdust everywhere on returns?
it's all good red elm is a very stringy wood and the cant is also moving on the carriage while saw it.
I'm from Gladstone (aka Happy Rock), Manitoba, Canada 🇨🇦.
I enjoy your videos. I could wach this all day i find things like this fascinating.
I have one question, though: would you ever get a planer to make smoth boards?
thank you , I do have a shop with a 24" planer.
i seen you did birthdays at the begining my birthday is on april 11th turning 71 yrs young this year
Happy Birthday Thomas!
Mark my wife Kathy and I are having our 43rd wedding anniversary on april 11th of this year.
You don't like sawing red elm ...... try splitting the stuff with an axe and you'll end up with a lot of ax handle ' kindling. That stuff is not only stringy but also twisted. The blade of the axe follows the grain and will twist that handle right off. Don't ask me how I know that. 😚
it's hard to split with a hydraulic splitter.
I hope Elm saws better than it splits.
it sure does.
Hello Mark, Eddie and CZ, Happy Easter to you. Nice log sawing, always stay safe. By-the-way Mark what’s a Full Set?
Who let the dogs out 🥴🤔?
Warm regards,
Richard B.
thanks Richard , when I say full set it's the thickness we are sawing for this order in this case 1-7/8"
@@markgalicic7788 again Mark, thank you for the phone call. Unexpected but very much appreciated. Maybe Chewy and the dogs will get a plaque one day. 🤔
I send Diesel Creek's music guy (Vinnie) your way. I know you always like new music!
thanks that would be great!
It is always good to see you. I am glad that you had helpers today. I get a little concerned watching that "frickenjeep" working by himself. I hope the fund raiser goes well. I spent all of my retirement money to buy a small house otherwise I would send something.
thanks Alan , yes John has his own way for sure.
