i don’t like the lack of reaction we get from other characters when another dies. for example, max. no one except for lucas and el really gave a damn. max’s mom wasn’t even at the hospital. same thing with eddie, and even bob. i would’ve loved to see a little reaction from will with bob’s death. with eddie nobody cared BUT dustin. i would’ve atleast been satisfied with someone comforting dustin when eddie died.
this is so real i never understood why no one talked about eddie but netflix would’ve made the duffers cut out scenes that they thought “weren’t important” which is a load of crap anyways cause it just leaves everyone confused
My hottest Stranger Things take is that Billy's sacrifice/redemption felt so unearned to me. Prior to his sacrifice, Billy showed no humanity at all. He almost ran over the kids with his car in season 2, he beat the crap out of Steve, he's a dick to Max (his own step-sister), the whole thing with him almost getting with Mrs. Wheeler was really weird, and in season 3 he became possessed by the mind flayer and was a villain for most of season 3. Before he died they even tried to give him some humanity with the flashbacks of him on the beach with his mother but it was too little too late. If he had shown some humanity during the series (aside from the flashback) then his sacrifice would be more earned, but to me his sacrifice seems to be more of a "f you" to the mind flayer rather than a selfless act of protection for Eleven and the rest of the group. In my opinion, Eddie is the antithesis of Billy because Eddie's sacrifice is actually earned
Billy sacrificed himself so max wouldn't suffer anymore he also saved her and eleven, also Eddie didn't have to die he could have easily not it's just because the duffers had to kill a main character
Stranger Things writers account just posted the opening scene! It says a child is singing a familiar song…. i believe this is a flashback of Will in the upside down singing Should I Stay or Should I Go and we will get a lot of new information that is relevant to the season 5 plot. I think these Will flashbacks will be similar to Eleven’s season 4 storyline with her flashbacks to the lab through the Nina Project. Let me know what you guys think and happy Stranger Things Day!
I think every character is important and I personally like how every season the main characters switch up. It gives you insight on every one of them. Getting to know each one a little more and understanding the overall universe that is stranger things!
Mike has developed A LOT You just don't see his POV cause it's hidden and there's a reason why he acts the way he acts He's easily the most interesting and complex character of the show and you will see why in final season
my hottest take is that in s4 jason wasn’t really in the wrong and he definitely didn’t deserve the fate he got. it’s obvious how much he cared for and loved chrissy, we see how deeply her death affected him. and while he didn’t have the morally right reaction, it’s valid that he wanted justice for someone he loved so much. especially with how brutally she died, it makes complete sense how disturbed and angry he was. i also think a lot of people tend to forget that anything about the upside down isn’t common knowledge, its insane to think anyone would just immediately believe that if told. and given the circumstances of the crime he would have legitimately zero reason to believe eddie wasn’t responsible, even the police were sure he had something to do with it. he honestly deserved better
I agree with this. I've always said Jason was just going on the information that was available to him. I will say he was too much in his own idea about what was happening to listen to any other explanation. That's why he annoyed me.
I agree if I was a normal citizen in Hawkins and Chrissy was like somone close to me I would also think Eddie killed her or smth as an audience we know abt the upside down and him intruding made us angry but I honestly think what Jason did was what almost everyone would do kind of
I think people need to understand the difference between being underrated and being bad. Just because someone says that a character is overrated doesn't mean that they hate that character or that they think that character is bad. For example, I agree that Eddie is overrated, but I still really like him. He is a top three character in S4 for me. However, a lot of people are going as far as saying that he is the best character or a top three character in the WHOLE show and I just can't agree.
Yes! That drives me nuts too. Like each character serves a purpose no matter how big or small the part, it's what gives depth and life to all shows. I could never tier rank characters because at different moments they all gave something that made the show what I enjoy and without each one it would be lacking in some way.
I disagree with your opinion on Mike. I wouldn't say he's a top tier character, but I will say is that a lot of yall don't understand the character. He's going through a lot and it's so obvious, and to have these high expectations on a 14/15 year old is wild. All the kids have been bad friends, but for some reason, he got all the heat just because he's not comedic, or isn't so obvious that he's going through something. I do believe he will be the focus in season 5 as well, and many will see what I'm talking about.
He is a top tier character,he will easily have a huge screentime next season and will be central We will finally see Mike's POV which we haven't seen since S1

Season 2 episode 8 is a top 5 episode in the show. So many incredible moments, like the demodogs hunting everybody down in Hawkins Lab, Bobs shocking death, everybody being grouped together in the Byers house with some amazing character momenents, Will being interrogated in the shed, and Eleven saving everybody at the end. Perfect 40 minutes of television.
🔥Bob's death was stupid and made no sense, outside of setting Hopper up with Joyce. Bob made it, he was holding the door, Hopper had a shotgun and was right there. Bob turned to "take a breath" and share a loveydovey hey girl to Joyce; really? You had the door bro. This was 100 percent a grab the banana instead of the gun moment in a horror show.
I agree that Dustin is NOT a bad character. He is awesome. He’s my favorite character on the show. Dustin has done a lot of stuff to help out on the show. He figured out how the compasses are guiding them to Gates, he discovered the Russian broadcast which would lead to them finding the new Gate, explaining the Mind Flayer to those who never played D&D so we could understand the threat, the first to find out that beings from the Upside Down like it cold and are hurt by heat, thought to get Suzie to help with Planck constant, being a navigator for Jim, Joyce, and Murray to get to the Gate the Russians are opening, and realizing that Vecna is killing people in order to create Gates. And he said how he was being the mature and responsible one when Mike and Lucas were fighting in season 1 and he said how they need to stick together otherwise everything is gonna get worse. Dustin has done a lot of stuff for the group that’s saved them. And Dustin said to Steve that he was willing to die with him. I do also agree that Will isn’t boring. Yes, he is mainly around because of his trauma with the Upside Down. But the Duffers did say that Will is gonna have a key role in season 5. That he will useful in stopping Vecna. Things are gonna come full circle. I’ve read that a lot of people say how the Mind Flayer was a better villain than Vecna. That it was ruined to reveal that Vecna was controlling particles to form a shame in which he was the Mind Flayer all along. But I think Vecna is the perfect villain of the show. The Duffers based him off of Freddy Krueger, Pinhead, and Pennywise because of them being the villains that terrified them as kids. If you ask someone to name the biggest villain from 80s horror movies, the most common answer will likely be Freddy. So a character based on Freddy is the perfect villain for this show based on 80s nostalgia. And of course, revealing that he’s Henry and One was a great twist that blew my ind too.
I think there might be a focus in season 5 about Vecna's left hand being a source of his power and that the team might need to remove or destroy it. That's my guess anyway. He used that hand alot in season 4. Whenever he snapped up his victim's he used his left big hand. It seems like if the team had removed it early in season 4 , he might've not been able to finish off Max or even Patrick. I know that's sort of how it also goes in the D&D game but it just might actually be a strong focus on season 5. That's MY guess.
I hate when people cancel out season 2 episode 7, it had a lot to do with elevens character development. The whole time in that season she was just trying to find where she belonged. Eleven was raised in a lab she doesn’t know anything about the world outside of that so her being able to go and see eight and being able to learn some things definitely helped her. Eleven definitely needed more character development than some of the other characters because of how she grew up. It doesn’t mean the episode is bad. Personally I enjoy the episode. What eight taught her helped her close the gate which was kind of big. If she hadn’t of gone to see eight she probably wouldn’t have showed up at the Byers house to help with everything.
I actually think you can’t say that Mike is a bad character yet. I personally believe, that Mike really has the potential to be a very complex character of the duffers do him good next season. That’s because we have never really seen his POV since season 1 so it would be very interesting, also looking at the thing with Will. Moreover, we don’t know how Mike is dealing with everything that has been going on for the last seasons, so he probably could also have mental struggles. We could get an explanation why Mike‘s character changed that much, which could make him very complex! :)
Totally. And I also think it's fair for different characters to "shine" during different seasons and episodes. Like Mike really had a front seat in that respect in season 1 and it made total sense and then made less sense in the following seasons and gave other characters a moment to come to the forefront. It's totally normal.

Aiden Fisher was there this year and he played a part of Metallica's “Master of Puppets” on stage of our outdoor amphitheater. He doubled as Eddie Munson when Eddie did Metallica's “Master of Puppets” UpsideDown scene. It was DEFINITELY Metal!😎

People must’ve forgot that without season 2 ep 7, doctor Brenner coming back was literally set up within that episode. If not for that episode, his return would have been very confusing imo

For me seasons 1-3 feel more like a tv series and then season 4- and presumably 5- feel more like a movie series. Season 3 has to be my favorite of the "stranger things tv series" by far though and I'm looking forward to season 5 to see which of the "stranger things movie series" I'll prefer
I know why some people think season 1 is the weakest, they see it as the least "fun and fancy", and ironically this season was at its most well-written, compelling stage with great mystery/horror/investigation vibe. No fan service, and dumb humour, just good story
I legit am so anxious for season 5. Although I'm a bit Inpatient (even though I have no other choice) I'm kinda glad it took awhile because I'm not ready for it to be over yet. Super sad season 5 is the last one. Hands down my favorite show. But I understand the cast have other projects to do. Some of these hot takes hurt me to my core A. Dustin is my favorite character! B. Steve stepped up to be the kids “father figure” throughout the series, and he’s so damn lovable! C. Even though 11 may not be a “top tier character” she is still one of the most important characters. The show couldn’t exist without her
I've been seeing and hearing that take about season 3 a lot too and I'm always so surprised. My hot take is I actually didn't like the direction season 4 took and I can't completely explain it but the characters didn't feel like the people I grew to know and it just felt like overall the Duffer brothers were doing too much over the top with everything. That doesn't mean I think the actual filming itself was bad because it is well done in that respect but I was really disappointed. I missed the slower more connected moments and the depth of everything I felt in the previous seasons. This season felt like a tv show on steroids and that isn't what drew me to liking the show. I know many people like all those aspects but everything to me felt way too predictable and done before and I wanted something different and more real emotion with higher stakes and less typical villain.
I would personally like to see a stranger things prequel season, where we see Terry Iyves ( eleven’s mother ) be introduced to Dr Brenner and Hawkins lab .
If your interested in that sort of prequel there is actually a canon book called Suspicious Minds by Gwenda Bond focusing on how Terry Ives first became involved in Hawkins Lab.
I have heard that a lot of people think that 4 is the best season. But for me personally it is season 3. It has really great relationships and the best storyline. Certainly because of the last two episodes.
agree 100% with you on the russia storyline. it was indeed drawn out, but just imagine the reaction had the Jopper reunion happened earlier in like episode 5 or something. you would’ve had ppl saying it was “rushed” or “anticlimactic”. i don’t think there was a way to win with that story at all.
I actually can see Will going bad as well! Considering the fact that Vecna chose him because he related the most and as the seasons go by first he was the “Zombie boy” and later on even he was freed by Mindflayer his connection didn’t end in the upside down. He was being mistreated on his birthday as no one literally didn’t remember and too bad Joyce wasn’t there to save the day the list goes on but, I wanted to explain why people might consider this route for him as well.
eddie muson fan here, i love Dustin, i think he might be one of the smartest character's on the show, he knows his way around compasses and he somehow managed to build Cerebro.

Season 2 Episode 7, is at least B tier. Anyone who thinks it should be lower doesn't understand the concept of hard world building. This episode adds a lot. It's the first time we see a large scale look outside Hawkins, it proves that Eleven wasn't the only number to escape, it shows that MKUltra wasn't completely wiped out, it hints that Papa's still alive, and it develops Eleven's character. Up till then Eleven was told what to do by Brenner, Mike, or Hopper. Kali gave her the courage to stand up for herself and make her own decisions. Kali also unintentionally taught her the importance of family, how being with like minded people, regardless on their backgrounds, helps make each of you stronger. And the most important part is she taught Eleven how to control and enhance her powers. The only critique I have is the order of the episodes, however that's fixed in 3 steps; 1. Swap the order of The Lost Sister and The Spy. 2. Move the scene at the end of Dig Dug (The group find Hopper in the tunnels) to the end of The Lost Sister. 3. Make the end of Dig Dug be where Eleven steals from her aunt and leaves. I'm certain if this were the case, more people would like the episode since a majority of the criticisms I see are "it breaks the flow", and since Eleven meets her aunt, in episode 5, having the next episode be Eleven learning more about her past, and mastering her powers, would be a logical progression and wrap up that storyline nice and quickly. Plus that episode doesn't have much of a cliffhanger, so adding the cliffhanger from episode 5 would give more incentive to watch it, while keeping the viewer invested in the main storyline. Then you have the great 3 episode finale of season 2. I think the episode order skews viewers' opinions much more negatively than anything that happens in the episode itself, and that's just complete BS.
Ok, my hot takes are this: 1: I have a soft spot for Mike, I always have since season 1. I can’t really hate him. I don’t think he’s as bad as people make him out to be. 2: Season 1 is overall the best season for me and I know that so many people will disagree with this one. Season 4 is definitely second! 3: Billy is not a good person. I have nothing else to say for that one, it’s pretty self explanatory

You comparing Stranger Things Season 4 to Infinity War makes sense because they both share a lot of obvious similarities. I won't be surprised if Season 5 pulls off an Endgame.

22:43 I'm not gonna say he's overrated, but I do not think he's anything above A- tier. I am fine with him surviving the end of 3, but the way he does is just kind of dumb, like it evaporates everyone in the room, and hopper survives by jumping? I still think he wouldn't have lived realistically. The main thing I don't like with him is that he kind of peaks in season 1, not to say he's not good in the rest, but seeing him be a detective and uncover this big government secret without any previous knowledge is so cool, and they aren't really good at replicating it in season 2. I do love his chemistry with joyce and murray in season 3, and I love him being this awesome fighter in season 4, but his character in 1 still is his peak for me. Still love him, but i've never understood people saying he's top 5.
Honestly what did the mind flayer have going on? It wasn't a character it was a faceless threat. That just puts vecna over for me because there's more going on. I do think the mind flayer is the cooler monster tho
Hot take: I don’t ship Byler. I much prefer Mike and El together since they’ve been together longer, and I felt that Will crushing on Mike came out of nowhere tbh. I feel like Mileven is a much better couple, with lots of good chemistry. I feel like Mileven should be the endgame and not Byler. (Hate me all you want, but that’s just MY opinion).
The reason they killed Eddie was just because they couldn’t figure out a way for the town to forgive him without explaining everything to a town that wouldn’t believe them anyway. I don’t think he’ll come back for that reason. I think Dustin will grow a lot from his death. I think at the end of the show somehow Eddie will be redeemed (to the town) but he’ll still be dead. I wish his character could’ve gotten more for him to grow and talk about his trauma from his dad more and the reason that he was a drug dealer and flunked school multiple times. This could show the town that he was only the way that he was because of his trauma and find a way to prove he’s innocent just like how they covered up barbs death with a chemical spill.

Yeah I'm in the same camp as you. I like Steve but sometimes I just don't like what he says. I don't like the little sh*** nickname for the younger party members. I didn't like and was confused as to why he was annoyed to be paired with Dustin at the Creel house.

I think Mike is still a very redeemable character. He's kind of a shitty friend but I think in season 5 he will really have some emotional growth. I also thik that El will be busy fighting Vecna and this will give us a chance to see something develop between Mike and Will. Idk if this would be smart story-wise bc I'm not an author but I think it would be cool if Will shared his feelings with Mike, then Mike and Will share a kiss and Mike runs away and avoids Will for a little bit while trying to figure out his feelings and this will give him a chance to reflect on the way he's been treating Will. But then something related to the upside down and Vecna is gonna affect Will in some way and Mike will feel guilty for not treating him well. Idk man

Season 2 is my second favorite after 4 because I skipped the lost sister bc I heard online it was terrible so I never have that bad episode in my head when thinking about it.
hot take:nancy is a bad girlfreind. she first cheats on steve and is just a really bad girlfriend in season one then shes trying to tell jonathen where he has to go to collage and now she might cheat on jonathan in season 5 so i def vote jancy bc she doesnt deserve steve also i love nancy as a character this is only as a girlfriend❤
In my opinion, I think the Mind flayer is a better villain than Vecna. I'm not saying I hate Vecna, I think the Mind flayer is better because he looks cool, and he existed before Henry entered the upside down. And he possessed Henry causing him to get his powers, which means he was behind everything.
My hot take is that Billy deserved better and we should have gotten a scene where he was his normal self and did something good for the group and make amends with Lucas and Steve and max.
I made the video! This is the best day of my life. I agree that there are characters better than Mike. Steve, Dustin Hopper, to name a few. I feel like Mike becoming less likeable was an important arc. He’s becoming more focused on getting older, and sure he isn’t super nice to Will in season 3, but I think it’s quite an important arc. I feel like he needs redemption in Season 5, though. A chance to prove his worth. I loved your reaction to my comment. It immediately made me think “yes. This is a very hot take.”
i dont see the first 6 episodes of season 3 as a stranger things season, it sticks out sm between s1&2 n 4. i didn’t like the russia storyline in neither s3 or 4 so that plays a big role aswell
They’re gonna kill off a character but it won’t be a main character that’s been in seasons 1-4. If you notice in season 2 they killed Bob. Season 3 was Alexei and Billie. Season 4 was Eddie. So I think the duffer brothers take the path of adding a lovable character to each season and killing them off instead of killing a main main character
Seasons 2 and 3 were good by any conventional measure, but didn’t have that lighting in a bottle quality of Season 1. To be honest, I thought at the time that Season 3 would’ve been a good time to end it, considering how many shows go on too long. But then Season 4 came out and caught the lightning again, vastly expanding the story we’d first discovered way back in Season 1.
I used to think season 3 was the best, but I am starting to get what people are saying. I think it’s the most fun, and most rewatchable. But it does start to teeter a little bit on self parody, they go way too far with the 80’s meta cheese this season. The Meat flayer is cool looking, but forgettable in the grand scheme of things. I do like a lot of things in this season, but it did start to feel like we’ve seen a lot of these things one too many times by this point. I would have to rank it last among all the seasons, although it’s still the most fun to watch.
My hot takes: Billy is not a hero. Steve and Eddie would be great if the fandom wasn’t weirdos and people didn’t oversexualize em. Eleven isn’t overrated, she’s hella overhated. Not a hot take but, PEOPLES HEADCANONS DONT HURT YOU. Billy is just attractive. He’s not a hero. His trauma is an explanation, but not an excuse.

This might be a hot take. I care more about saving the place of Hawkins than the citizens being saved thanks to Eddie's character and how poorly they think of him now.

(possibly because Steve and Jonathan are two of my favorite characters and she is slowly ruining their lives?) Edit: Oh, and I hate Mike. I low key just hate the entire wheeler family.

Stranger Things writers account just posted the opening scene! It says a child is singing a familiar song…. i believe this is a flashback of Will in the upside down singing Should I Stay or Should I Go and we will get a lot of new information that is relevant to the season 5 plot. my hottest take is that in s4 jason wasn’t really in the wrong and he definitely didn’t deserve the fate he got. it’s obvious how much he cared for and loved chrissy, we see how deeply her death affected him. and while he didn’t have the morally right reaction, it’s valid that he wanted justice for someone he loved so much. especially with how brutally she died, it makes complete sense how disturbed and angry he was. i also think a lot of people tend to forget that anything about the upside down isn’t common knowledge, its insane to think anyone would just immediately believe that if told. and given the circumstances of the crime he would have legitimately zero reason to believe eddie wasn’t responsible, even the police were sure he had something to do with it. he honestly deserved better

I think people need to understand the difference between being underrated and being bad. Just because someone says that a character is overrated doesn't mean that they hate that character or that they think that character is bad. For example, I agree that Eddie is overrated, but I still really like him. He is a top three character in S4 for me. However, a lot of people are going as far as saying that he is the best character or a top three character in the WHOLE show and I just can't agree.
Yes! That drives me nuts too. Like each character serves a purpose no matter how big or small the part, it's what gives depth and life to all shows. I could never tier rank characters because at different moments they all gave something that made the show what I enjoy and without each one it would be lacking in some way.

I disagree with your opinion on Mike. I wouldn't say he's a top tier character, but I will say is that a lot of yall don't understand the character. He's going through a lot and it's so obvious, and to have these high expectations on a 14/15 year old is wild. All the kids have been bad friends, but for some reason, he got all the heat just because he's not comedic, or isn't so obvious that he's going through something. I do believe he will be the focus in season 5 as well, and many will see what I'm talking about.

Hot Take: Ive recently started liking Season 2 more than season 1 and 3
Season 2 episode 8 is a top 5 episode in the show. So many incredible moments, like the demodogs hunting everybody down in Hawkins Lab, Bobs shocking death, everybody being grouped together in the Byers house with some amazing character momenents, Will being interrogated in the shed, and Eleven saving everybody at the end. Perfect 40 minutes of television.
That is easily my favorite episode of the entire series

🔥Bob's death was stupid and made no sense, outside of setting Hopper up with Joyce. Bob made it, he was holding the door, Hopper had a shotgun and was right there. Bob turned to "take a breath" and share a loveydovey hey girl to Joyce; really? You had the door bro. This was 100 percent a grab the banana instead of the gun moment in a horror show.

I agree that Dustin is NOT a bad character. He is awesome. He’s my favorite character on the show. Dustin has done a lot of stuff to help out on the show. He figured out how the compasses are guiding them to Gates, he discovered the Russian broadcast which would lead to them finding the new Gate, explaining the Mind Flayer to those who never played D&D so we could understand the threat, the first to find out that beings from the Upside Down like it cold and are hurt by heat, thought to get Suzie to help with Planck constant, being a navigator for Jim, Joyce, and Murray to get to the Gate the Russians are opening, and realizing that Vecna is killing people in order to create Gates. And he said how he was being the mature and responsible one when Mike and Lucas were fighting in season 1 and he said how they need to stick together otherwise everything is gonna get worse. Dustin has done a lot of stuff for the group that’s saved them. And Dustin said to Steve that he was willing to die with him.
I do also agree that Will isn’t boring. Yes, he is mainly around because of his trauma with the Upside Down. But the Duffers did say that Will is gonna have a key role in season 5. That he will useful in stopping Vecna. Things are gonna come full circle.
I’ve read that a lot of people say how the Mind Flayer was a better villain than Vecna. That it was ruined to reveal that Vecna was controlling particles to form a shame in which he was the Mind Flayer all along. But I think Vecna is the perfect villain of the show. The Duffers based him off of Freddy Krueger, Pinhead, and Pennywise because of them being the villains that terrified them as kids. If you ask someone to name the biggest villain from 80s horror movies, the most common answer will likely be Freddy. So a character based on Freddy is the perfect villain for this show based on 80s nostalgia. And of course, revealing that he’s Henry and One was a great twist that blew my ind too.
I think there might be a focus in season 5 about Vecna's left hand being a source of his power and that the team might need to remove or destroy it. That's my guess anyway.
He used that hand alot in season 4. Whenever he snapped up his victim's he used his left big hand.
It seems like if the team had removed it early in season 4 , he might've not been able to finish off Max or even Patrick.
I know that's sort of how it also goes in the D&D game but it just might actually be a strong focus on season 5.

I hate when people cancel out season 2 episode 7, it had a lot to do with elevens character development. The whole time in that season she was just trying to find where she belonged. Eleven was raised in a lab she doesn’t know anything about the world outside of that so her being able to go and see eight and being able to learn some things definitely helped her. Eleven definitely needed more character development than some of the other characters because of how she grew up. It doesn’t mean the episode is bad. Personally I enjoy the episode. What eight taught her helped her close the gate which was kind of big. If she hadn’t of gone to see eight she probably wouldn’t have showed up at the Byers house to help with everything.
Not even a hot take season 3 is the best just seeing the group of kids together and livening life in the 80 I am so jealous

I actually think you can’t say that Mike is a bad character yet. I personally believe, that Mike really has the potential to be a very complex character of the duffers do him good next season. That’s because we have never really seen his POV since season 1 so it would be very interesting, also looking at the thing with Will. Moreover, we don’t know how Mike is dealing with everything that has been going on for the last seasons, so he probably could also have mental struggles. We could get an explanation why Mike‘s character changed that much, which could make him very complex! :)
Totally. And I also think it's fair for different characters to "shine" during different seasons and episodes. Like Mike really had a front seat in that respect in season 1 and it made total sense and then made less sense in the following seasons and gave other characters a moment to come to the forefront. It's totally normal.

I've been enjoying STRANGER THINGS DAY since the 4th when my town threw an event they throw every year called STRANGER THINGS DAY BLOCK PARTY.
Aiden Fisher was there this year and he played a part of Metallica's “Master of Puppets” on stage of our outdoor amphitheater.

For me seasons 1-3 feel more like a tv series and then season 4- and presumably 5- feel more like a movie series. Season 3 has to be my favorite of the "stranger things tv series" by far though and I'm looking forward to season 5 to see which of the "stranger things movie series" I'll prefer
I know why some people think season 1 is the weakest, they see it as the least "fun and fancy", and ironically this season was at its most well-written, compelling stage with great mystery/horror/investigation vibe. No fan service, and dumb humour, just good story
I legit am so anxious for season 5. Although I'm a bit Inpatient (even though I have no other choice) I'm kinda glad it took awhile because I'm not ready for it to be over yet. Super sad season 5 is the last one. Hands down my favorite show. But I understand the cast have other projects to do. I've been seeing and hearing that take about season 3 a lot too and I'm always so surprised. My hot take is I actually didn't like the direction season 4 took and I can't completely explain it but the characters didn't feel like the people I grew to know and it just felt like overall the Duffer brothers were doing too much over the top with everything. That doesn't mean I think the actual filming itself was bad because it is well done in that respect but I was really disappointed. I missed the slower more connected moments and the depth of everything I felt in the previous seasons. This season felt like a tv show on steroids and that isn't what drew me to liking the show. I know many people like all those aspects but everything to me felt way too predictable and done before and I wanted something different and more real emotion with higher stakes and less typical villain.
I would personally like to see a stranger things prequel season, where we see Terry Iyves ( eleven’s mother ) be introduced to Dr Brenner and Hawkins lab .
If your interested in that sort of prequel there is actually a canon book called Suspicious Minds by Gwenda Bond focusing on how Terry Ives first became involved in Hawkins Lab.
So if 11 and 1 dies in the finale, Kali is the only one from that lab that is still alive.
Because she left and stayed gone.
I have heard that a lot of people think that 4 is the best season. But for me personally it is season 3. It has really great relationships and the best storyline. Certainly because of the last two episodes.

agree 100% with you on the russia storyline. it was indeed drawn out, but just imagine the reaction had the Jopper reunion happened earlier in like episode 5 or something. you would’ve had ppl saying it was “rushed” or “anticlimactic”. i don’t think there was a way to win with that story at all.
I actually can see Will going bad as well! Considering the fact that Vecna chose him because he related the most and as the seasons go by first he was the “Zombie boy” and later on even he was freed by Mindflayer his connection didn’t end in the upside down. He was being mistreated on his birthday as no one literally didn’t remember and too bad Joyce wasn’t there to save the day the list goes on but, I wanted to explain why people might consider this route for him as well.
eddie muson fan here, i love Dustin, i think he might be one of the smartest character's on the show, he knows his way around compasses and he somehow managed to build Cerebro.

Season 2 Episode 7, is at least B tier.
Anyone who thinks it should be lower doesn't understand the concept of hard world building.
This episode adds a lot. It's the first time we see a large scale look outside Hawkins, it proves that Eleven wasn't the only number to escape, it shows that MKUltra wasn't completely wiped out, it hints that Papa's still alive, and it develops Eleven's character. Up till then Eleven was told what to do by Brenner, Mike, or Hopper. Kali gave her the courage to stand up for herself and make her own decisions. Kali also unintentionally taught her the importance of family, how being with like minded people, regardless on their backgrounds, helps make each of you stronger. And the most important part is she taught Eleven how to control and enhance her powers.
The only critique I have is the order of the episodes, however that's fixed in 3 steps;
1. Swap the order of The Lost Sister and The Spy.
2. Move the scene at the end of Dig Dug (The group find Hopper in the tunnels) to the end of The Lost Sister.
3. Make the end of Dig Dug be where Eleven steals from her aunt and leaves.
I'm certain if this were the case, more people would like the episode since a majority of the criticisms I see are "it breaks the flow", and since Eleven meets her aunt, in episode 5, having the next episode be Eleven learning more about her past, and mastering her powers, would be a logical progression and wrap up that storyline nice and quickly. Plus that episode doesn't have much of a cliffhanger, so adding the cliffhanger from episode 5 would give more incentive to watch it, while keeping the viewer invested in the main storyline. Then you have the great 3 episode finale of season 2.
I think the episode order skews viewers' opinions much more negatively than anything that happens in the episode itself, and that's just complete BS.

1: I have a soft spot for Mike, I always have since season 1. I can’t really hate him. I don’t think he’s as bad as people make him out to be.

I am fine with him surviving the end of 3, but the way he does is just kind of dumb, like it evaporates everyone in the room, and hopper survives by jumping? I still think he wouldn't have lived realistically. The main thing I don't like with him is that he kind of peaks in season 1, not to say he's not good in the rest, but seeing him be a detective and uncover this big government secret without any previous knowledge is so cool, and they aren't really good at replicating it in season 2. I do love his chemistry with joyce and murray in season 3, and I love him being this awesome fighter in season 4, but his character in 1 still is his peak for me. Still love him, but i've never understood people saying he's top 5.

Hot take: I don’t ship Byler. I much prefer Mike and El together since they’ve been together longer, and I felt that Will crushing on Mike came out of nowhere tbh. I feel like Mileven is a much better couple, with lots of good chemistry. I feel like Mileven should be the endgame and not Byler. (Hate me all you want, but that’s just MY opinion).
The reason they killed Eddie was just because they couldn’t figure out a way for the town to forgive him without explaining everything to a town that wouldn’t believe them anyway. I don’t think he’ll come back for that reason. I think Dustin will grow a lot from his death. I think at the end of the show somehow Eddie will be redeemed (to the town) but he’ll still be dead. I wish his character could’ve gotten more for him to grow and talk about his trauma from his dad more and the reason that he was a drug dealer and flunked school multiple times. This could show the town that he was only the way that he was because of his trauma and find a way to prove he’s innocent just like how they covered up barbs death with a chemical spill.

I think Mike is still a very redeemable character. He's kind of a shitty friend but I think in season 5 he will really have some emotional growth. I also thik that El will be busy fighting Vecna and this will give us a chance to see something develop between Mike and Will. Idk if this would be smart story-wise bc I'm not an author but I think it would be cool if Will shared his feelings with Mike, then Mike and Will share a kiss and Mike runs away and avoids Will for a little bit while trying to figure out his feelings and this will give him a chance to reflect on the way he's been treating Will. But then something related to the upside down and Vecna is gonna affect Will in some way and Mike will feel guilty for not treating him well. Idk man

Season 2 is my second favorite after 4 because I skipped the lost sister bc I heard online it was terrible so I never have that bad episode in my head when thinking about it.

In my opinion, I think the Mind flayer is a better villain than Vecna. I'm not saying I hate Vecna, I think the Mind flayer is better because he looks cool, and he existed before Henry entered the upside down. And he possessed Henry causing him to get his powers, which means he was behind everything.

I agree that there are characters better than Mike. Steve, Dustin Hopper, to name a few. I feel like Mike becoming less likeable was an important arc. He’s becoming more focused on getting older, and sure he isn’t super nice to Will in season 3, but I think it’s quite an important arc. I feel like he needs redemption in Season 5, though. A chance to prove his worth.

They’re gonna kill off a character but it won’t be a main character that’s been in seasons 1-4. If you notice in season 2 they killed Bob. Season 3 was Alexei and Billie. Season 4 was Eddie. So I think the duffer brothers take the path of adding a lovable character to each season and killing them off instead of killing a main main character
Seasons 2 and 3 were good by any conventional measure, but didn’t have that lighting in a bottle quality of Season 1. To be honest, I thought at the time that Season 3 would’ve been a good time to end it, considering how many shows go on too long. But then Season 4 came out and caught the lightning again, vastly expanding the story we’d first discovered way back in Season 1.

I used to think season 3 was the best, but I am starting to get what people are saying. I think it’s the most fun, and most rewatchable. But it does start to teeter a little bit on self parody, they go way too far with the 80’s meta cheese this season. The Meat flayer is cool looking, but forgettable in the grand scheme of things. I do like a lot of things in this season, but it did start to feel like we’ve seen a lot of these things one too many times by this point. I would have to rank it last among all the seasons, although it’s still the most fun to watch.

I Loved Stranger Things Season 4 & This Season Should’ve Been The One To Introduce Other Test Subjects That Could Have Been Hiding Somewhere Near or In Hawkins Without Anyone Noticing, For Example: I Wouldn’t Be Surprised If Vicky CarMicheal (Robin’s Crush) Turns Out To Be One of The Test Subjects From The Hawkins Lab, She Would Be Test Subject Number Thirteen & Would Have Some Connection To Terri Ives, Vickey Knows That Eleven Is Her Sister & Is In California And That’s Why She Choices To Stay In Hawkins For The Sake of The Future of Her Powered Siblings, Episode Seven of Season 2 Is No Longer Cannon, Witch Opens The Door For Maybe Terri Ives In The Future To Have Kids of Her Own Where Eleven/Jane Ives Can Finally Have Real Siblings To Trust & Hangout With, My Idea For One of Her Siblings Is Jackson Ives Who Has An Entire Story Set In Hawkins During The 1990s & Meets This Girl Name Troublemaker Girl Name Evelyn Walkers & Her Wired Friends Who Are The Daughters of Carol Perkins (Who Has A Daughter Name Abigail Perkins), Nicole Goodwin (Who Has A Daughter Name Emily), & Samatha Jackson (Who’s Has A Daughter Name Destiny & Was The Nice Girl At Billy’s Party Back In Season 2), The Incredible Jackson Ives Would Be About This New Group of People Who Work Together To Keep This Kid Safe Who Happens To Be Terri Ives’ Son & Eleven’s Older Brother Who’s Very Young In The Show.
This might be a hot take. I care more about saving the place of Hawkins than the citizens being saved thanks to Eddie's character and how poorly they think of him now.

My hot takes: I wish they never included Russia in the storyline, and Nancy is my least favorite character. I hate her. idk why, i just do. (possibly because Steve and Jonathan are two of my favorite characters and she is slowly ruining their lives?) Edit: Oh, and I hate Mike. I low key just hate the entire wheeler family.

hot take: mileven shouldn’t be a thing. sure they were cute n all in season 1 and stuff but eleven doesn’t need a boyfriend, and frankly she deserves better than mike like cmon. they’ll most likely be endgame but i just don’t like the idea 😭

I don’t really know what my opinion is for what’s the weakest season. I mostly love season 2 bc of Max and her storyline. And sometimes I can’t watch season 1. So I don’t rly know tbh. But I think we can all agree that season 3 and 4 are the best seasons. They are on top. And I can’t wait to see what people think the ranking of the seasons are after season 5 is out. Can’t wait for everyone’s opinions :)
