  • In just a few short months, Jimmy Butler went from getting slandered…
To getting compared to Michael Jordan
Then back to being told he can’t be the best player on a championship team...
While everyone seems to agree that Jimmy Butler is a great player in the regular season.
The narrative of him in the playoffs seems to fluctuate between two extremes
One is from Heat fans calling Jimmy a playoff superstar
A guy that looks and plays like MJ’s long lost son.
The other extreme is from casuals calling Jimmy an over-hyped / over confident mid tier player.
Who only got to the finals because he was a part of a well-coached Miami Heat Team.
So what is the TRUTH about Jimmy Butler?

Jimmy Butler is a really great NBA player.
I feel nostalgic now for the Chicago Bulls when Butler and Derrick Rose had Joakim Noah.

I think he is a superstar. Yes, unfortunately he did choke in last games, but he took this team of role players, no disrespect, that are inconsistent at offence to finals twice , and last year was a bucket away from finals. If that’s not a superstar level I don’t know what is. Take away Jimmy from this team they would be tanking somewhere at the bottom of eastern conference in hopes for high first round pick. In fact when he came to timberwolves he took them to the playoffs, made sixers a threat as well when he was there. He adds a ton of value. Of course he is not at Lebron level, but still a superstar.

I feel like you neglected to talk about the injuries that Jimmy sustained on the road to the finals. Josh Hart literally slide tackled Jimmy's ankle in game 1. Then in game 3 Josh Hart flopped and injured Jimmy again. Then in game 7 against Boston, Jimmy landed on someone's foot and injured the same ankle. People need to rewatch that Josh Hart tackle..it's not like an undercut or landing on someone's foot. Josh Hart flopped, kicked jimmy's ankle from underneath him and then Josh Hart's body weight rolled over Jimmy's ankle...
We're talking about a guy who dunked on Giannis and was scoring at ease against 2 all-defence defenders...he's not scared of Jokic or Aaron Gordon unless he was playing injured which he was.
