Rust Paint made with Actual Rust sounds like a dystopian scifi future product.
It been invented since the beginning of paint what do you thing burnt sienna is made off?
@@livanbard It's also why barns are traditionally red, the easiest and cheapest paint is a bucket of rusty nails with some oil poured in
"New formula, now with 50% more rust!"
"Mostly lead free!"
Wait till you hear about the guy who made his own nurgle brown paint with…
@@livanbard Don't act like that is common knowledge smh
Now you'll have to explain how to make crustard every video.
Or just link to Bill Makes Stuff?
Bill making stuff
I feel like that racoon sensed a kindred spirit.
Your rust paint technique is from another dimension.
i love how he just goes "random bullshit, GO!" and makes amazing necromunda terrain
1:42 They're usually air diverters and cap pieces on the bumpers of most modern cars. It's flimsy junk, but it keeps water/sand/debris from getting into the engine as much.
Love all of your work. Your voice is so soothing you should have a podcast lol. You got me into Warhammer with your biggest ork build.
Just wanted to tell you thanks for getting me into my favorite hobby!
SCRATCH BAAAAASHIIIING! *shakes fist*
That rust paint is such a good idea!! I haven't seen anyone else attempt anything like it either. Really cool stuff man
Did he just took rust power and mixed it with water? Bcs i tried and it doesn't really give the same effect... mine is way brownier
@@paille-boy not water. If you use water when it dries it'll just flake and brush off. You need to use some kind of binder medium that has solids in it that will dry into a clear film that sticks. Linseed oil or egg whites are traditional, readily available ones. You can just buy pre-made acrylic binder or possibly even use something like watered down mod podge or pva glue. Maybe even acrylic floor polish? No idea what he used.

I love this idea of collecting litter for a build. Probably takes forever to clean and actually find useful greeblies, but I would give it a go for fun!
I've been doing the same thing for a while now and it all depends on where you live! More trash in cities than in suburbs, more in suburbs than rural areas. As for washing, a high grade detergent/degreaser like Super Clean will get everything clean enough to handle pretty quickly.
@@archivist8523 I recently started using LA Totally Awesome degreaser which has been pure magic for me. I'll look into Super Clean too. Thanks for the tips!
Disagree with the rural areas. Here, people love to litter and can't drive, so plastic is abundant. I've been too focused on getting it just right from the start. I think I'm going to start glueing stuff together and then covering the ugly parts. Maybe find a plan somewhere in the middle. See how that goes.
@@slackpipe this is the way
Someone must have had a serious fender bender. I saw bits of intake, and a fuse box cover, and couple other important car bits.
I'm certainly no car guy but I'm pretty sure most if not all of that roadside plastic is the bottom coverings from cars (skid plate/splash guard). It's the first thing to break off when you get a lot of potholes and ice chunks, and can come in some crazy shapes.

Have you run your use of "Crustard"(tm) past Bill Making Stuff's legal team?
That Real-Rust is very cool.
As ever this is an amazing bit of scratch-bashing.
Dude how is no one else appreciating the Doka Ryan reference?
Wow, that was a genuine actual haiku. You even remembered to have an allusion to nature
If I purchase this wonderful tee, would I get a complimentary “THE BIT” along with it??
How about a handful of nuts and bolts
Wholesome content, Captain Planet AND Hive City approved!
I am always greatly impressed by your ability to make such awesome things from true scratch. Thank you for making these videos.
looks like people have been losing parts of skid plates. Plastic that protects the bottom junk of your car. Could be wrong, but those plastics usually fall off in chunks over time due to the damage they shield the engine, oil tank, etc. from.
I have nothing to say, I'm just commenting for engagement.
Wow, this was absolutely hilarious.
I've never found a crafter to be funny, I guess I'll sub 🤷
That rust concoction is an absolute game changer!!!! Thank you so much for sharing it! Do you own a cape? Because you're a hero!!!!
Where did he share it?
@@blackjak4185 in the video at the 7:33 mark.
Beautiful. You've taken random garbage that no one would have paid any mind and turned it into awesome stuff. Honestly this channel and Bill Making Stuff have warped my brain into seeing various mundane packaging and bits into cool potential Sci-fi stuff. I thank ya.
Comment for the Robot Gods! Engagement for the Algorithm Throne!
YO! I just found your channel and I love what you do. I've been wondering how I've missed out on this content for so long. It seems like you really stepped up your thumbnail game for this video. Would love to see more garbage builds. Thanks for being awesome!
The DokaRyan reference was totally unexpected but totally welcome
Ive commented on a few on your other videos, you’ve inspired me so much, thanks for the help in finding my hobby, now, you owe me a red shootah for helping me, kinda a you “scratch” my back you scratch yours kinda thing yk
I want ork titan
Delayed it makes me much sad
Only you can help me

Titan when
Finally a DIY building mad eof REAL trash ! Thank you for that, I hate when builders do it buying NEW stuff for that on purpose.
Good job !
Just a note: baking soda can migrate out of the paint and leave white crusty patches on the surface of the project. This sometimes gets really bad when multiple washes are used.
40,000 veiws ~300 comments and only 14 likes... I think my YT is borked.
Currently binging this channel.
This was INSANE! Gorgeous, beautiful, and now I am almost too scared to continue MY build, but I will persevere. Subbed!
You *must* continue!
That DokaScratchBash caught me WAY off guard.
Cant wait until you sell some Fenrisian Mjød with your face on it
Uuummmmm…where’s the titan!? I’ve been waiting so long I got old ❤
Same!
Yea I could not wait a week. Try adding Hydrogen peroxide to your vinegar and salt mixture. Now I just need to wait til all that liquid vanishes.
Bill making stuff invented the term "crustard" he's the only guy I've heard say it. Also his is really cool.
I love that new and original term Crustard, it's so inventive. Sandy Crustard should be called SB's Double Thicc Crustard
I literally cracked up a couple of times during this video. Your humour is spot on. Never stop being you!
Babe, wake up! A new Scratch Bashing video just dropped!
Lol, the references to other ‘tubers were fun
Looks like most of the car parts came from mirrors and from bumper mouldings, you had a head light plug there too i think
tutorial on the rust paint? How salty should the vinegar be?
I love this build so much! And the Doka reference was awesome!
Others: Titan torso!
Me a man of culture: Titan grippy arm.
It takes a special skill(autism) to make stuff like this
Good job my man looks great
I just sent you video to a friend, he asked me "what is this a man or a racoon" and I replied "a junkyard titan" :D
Damn man, I'll have to have another go at building some terrain, last time I tried my hand at it it just looked like I'd broken into a kids nursery and stole their toys.
The advantage to building with garbage is even if you screw up, it's not gonna be "garbage-er".
I like the part where we see up his nose.
(If you know, you know.)
This is legit so funny. You have gained a new subscriber, yes.
Trash bashing. My favorite type of builds!
"...you might even end up with a sweet new terrain piece..." or tetanus :D
You, my just stumbled upon RUclips creator, are a work of art
"Crustard" was coined by "Bill Making Stuff" at this very video uploading site.
Bill is huge on Vimeo
where's my hair elastic?
Love the dokaryan reference
Recycling!
Genuinely more effective than "actual" recycling. Instead of -rotting- _failing to rot_ in the same landfill as the common trash, or going to join the Great Pacific Garbage Patch (now so large and permanent, it has its own ecosystem), you can make productive use of your plastic waste.
That rust paint is gotta be the coolest way to get tetanus
Tetanus (if memory serves) is caused by bacteria that feeds on/thrives in(don't remember which) rust, not rust itself. I imagine it being in vinegar for a while would act as a sort of anti-bacterial
Edit: fixed typo. See my below reply for corrections and further info
@@gray7035 It don't lol but you actually need to get it inside your system via a wound or cavity
@@livanbard Did some Googling. Tetanus is caused by a bacterium called Clostridium tetani. It's practically everywhere but we commonly ascociate it with rust because rusty implements are usually dirty. And yes, all that matters is if it enters your body or not but that doesn't matter considering the bacteria would be dead or weakened by the vinegar he used to get the rust off of the stuff as it contains acids that most bacteria can't hold up to. Worst that could happen is the rust could flake particles and get into a cut, causing discomfort or minor infection. You're not getting tetanus from this terrain piece, sadly
Edit: recheck the vid and apperently I misremebered isopropyl alcohol as vinegar. Those bacteria stand even less of a chance
@@gray7035 iso was in the bottle he mixed with the sludge?
@@jaymaxwell8645 Correct, I remembered wrong and corrected myself in my second reply.
I've missed these :) Great work, as always!
and to think i was about to pay money for some dirty down...
The DokaRyan tribute was very funny. 😄 what's that song at the end? Meshuggah?
@andromidaofficial
Please. I only use Whole Grain Crustard.
I'm curious what the proportions of metal to vinegar to salt were, as well as the ratio of matt media to gunge to make your rust FX paint.
Me too!! I will have to measure next time
Would it be possible, mr bashing, to make a “crustard” tee, it’s literally the perfect word
*Now I’m curious what no.6 would be! Also DAMN I was not expecting that reference to another channel or the actual rust paint.*
YOOOOO that DokaRyan reference was on point
I was just checking your channel to see if you uploaded anything new! What a surprise this is!
You are the KING of trash builds (in a good way)
Okay, was NOT expecting the DokaRyan reference...

Why would Bill be upset about crustard?
WTF bro you can’t use actual rust for rust paint that’s illegal you need to buy special rust imitation paint that’s super expensive and will ruin a brush to look half as good wtf cringe
simply brilliant. love your work
So when you wash your crustard from your brush, does that turn your water into croffee?
Every time
I think "Bill Making Stuff" invented CRUSTARD a couple of years ago and uses the stuff regularly.
You had me dying with the DokaRyan reference
dybosia!
How was that custom rust's stick age? >.> and what did dirty down do to you? I was thinking of trying it out myself dirty down I mean. But your custom seems way cheaper.
This was hilarious!!
You make my smile man! Your a natural 😂😂😂⚡️⚡️⚡️👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🎯
Can you please tell us more about rust-rust? sounds like something amazing for scale model projects i would actually use. any "scientific" measurements or recommended items?
how do I make kitbash terrain? I'm making a stop motion movie and I don't have a 2mil budget for background or buildings.
Exceedingly glad to see you upload again. Very creative use of rust, maybe I’ll try that, interesting to see you can just do that.
lol my missing green lighter!
