    Hi Olga, I really like your channel and your positive mood) I also grow a rose garden, I agree, the "Queen of Sweden" is a beautiful narrow rose, I planted a "Twilight zone" rose next to it. Greetings from Moscow, I'm Kate!

    • @OlgaCarmody
      @OlgaCarmody  3 года назад +1

      Hi Kate! Glad you are here! What a striking combination of color it must be between pink Queen of Sweden and purple Twilight Zone! Does Twilight Zone have good disease resistance?

    • @DZett7
      @DZett7 3 года назад +1

      @@OlgaCarmody Olga, I just recently planted the " Twilight zone" and I can't say yet, but I prophylactically treat all roses against insects and diseases once a month, combining
      with leaf feeding with various combinations of NPK depending on the month and flowering stage)

    I planted 3 bare-root 'Queen of Sweden' roses this spring in honor of my mother and her 2 sisters because they're half Swedish. Behind those I have several varieties of panicle hydrangeas and a 'Black Lace' elderberry, all of which grow 6-9 feet tall. Mmm, I can't wait to see them at maturity.
    My 'Princess Alexandra of Kent' I planted in a container because I, too, had a new roof installed. It's blooming already and the fragrance is so wonderful.
    Thank you for showing us the potential of this sweet rose.
    By the way, in this same garden I have a dwarf apple tree with many developing apples in its second season! "Someone" has been eating the leaves. I suspect Japanese beetles. I heard one should take off the affected leaves because the beetles leave a hormone behind to attract more of the pests. That would leave the tree nearly naked. I garden organically. I do have those yellow sticky traps.

    • @OlgaCarmody
      @OlgaCarmody  3 года назад +4

      You know what I do for my apple tree? In spring I put scotch tape around the trunk, approx. one foot wide and on it I smear lard. All the crawling insects can’t get on the tree when they wake up in spring. And we have apples, not perfect ones, but still I consider it a big success for the amount of work I put into it.
      Your rose, hydrangea and elderberry design sounds so good!

      Hi Larisa, roses are coming to us this time of the year as dormant roots, so it is safe to plant them out, as long as your soil is workable. Reputable sellers ship roses in appropriate time for your zone to plant. Слава Україні!

      Those roses were miserable one year. Roof people who came to replace our roof, probably were thinking that I am a crazy garden lady, giving them super detailed instructions were they cannot step in my garden. My Queen of Sweden got black spot that year, which is typical disease in NE USA since we have humidity. This fall those roses finished the season very healthy, I must say! I am happy with that!

    Что мне нравится зарубежом, так это то, что у всех растут розы за забором и их никто не трогает. Если я посажу в своём посёлке розу за забором, её в первую же ночь сопрут. Поэтому мой розовый Эдем только во дворе, ещё и собачка бегает, охраняет.
