Am I correct in saying that once somebody "makes a copy", all the protection is lost? I'm trying to create sheet to share on the internet with anybody, but I want to protect the formula cells from being overwritten/deleted. Obviously I will need to completely lock editing to only myself, which will force everyone else to make a copy. But that's when all protection is lost. Is there any way to keep the protection? Yes, if someone makes a copy, then they are working with their own file. Therefore, they are the owner and could unprotect anything they wanted. If you want to keep everything protected, then consider sharing it as a link where everyone has viewer access. Then, they can see the file but not make any changes.
@@ProlificOaktree Thanks for confirming my suspicions. The spreadsheet is a calculation sheet, so there are fields that the user needs to enter data, so "view only" won't work.

I have problem with protected view, im protected some cell, andngive permisssion to 1 person But i try it with third account and they still can edit it
I don't know of a control that is that granular. Look into making them and editor, owner, viewer, etc. when you share it. But I don't think you can control what you mentioned specifically.
So even when you hide the sheet, they can still see it if they want too?????????? That defeats the purpose. I don’t want them to see ANY contents of the Hidden tab on the shared sheet EVER. How do you do that??????

I don't know of an option to disable download. That is probably one of the reasons why these are operational considerations, not security.

You're probably better off using two different spreadsheets and linking them together with IMPORTSHEET.

I work with them in groups by clicking one on the far left or right, holding down the shift key, then clicking one on the other end of the group.

HELP! I cant seem to find the option for protext sheet that is shown at 3:00 time. Mine goes from hide sheet to view comments nothing in between.
I'm guessing that someone shared the document with you so you're not the owner. You have your privileges restricted when you don't own the document.

The "Protect" concepts applies to worksheets or ranges/cells. It does not apply to an entire spreadsheet. Use the Share options for that.

You can't stop users from seeing cells, just from editing them.

How to disable download, print & copy to shared person?
Click on the settings icon in the share window that looks like a gear. You should see these options there.

You need to be the sheet "owner" to protect sheets. If it is a sheet that is shared with you, this ability can be unavailable.
