The following scene is of Barry's first day in the British Army. He gets insulted by a brutish fellow soldier, then retaliates with witty ridicule. The fellow soldier challenges Barry to a fist fight. Barry knocks down his opponent five (5!) times and is declared the winner. This is his first day.

To my way of thinkg it is better, perhaps the best work that Kubrick did. I enjoyed some of his early work when younger, most especailly a clockwork oragne. Now, I think that his and Lolita hold up best.
However, it is each man to his own taste
