Absolutely respect Emma's talent and acting skills. Little known fact; she provided voice-over work in a vid game, back in a day.I have a voice acting background and have to say she nailed it. The vocal training itself for me was really tough, sometimes without noticeable results for months but artists like her are a great impulse to not give up. PS. You almost saw me as Leon in those new Resident Evil games :)

Unfortunately what happened to Kevin with that woman in Ulta doesn't surprise me at all as a disabled woman. I swear anyone who looks a bit different & people seem to think they can ask/say whatever they like. I've literally had someone come up to me & ask "can you even have sex"... it was pretty much the first thing out of their mouth too. Then there's the much more common "so what's wrong with you then?" like they have a right to my medical history. I swear people like that equate different with lesser & because they think you're less you automatically don't deserve the same respect as others.
As if your life is for their personal consumption. What is wrong with people? Maybe you could ask them that back next time? Or the response Dear Abby used to suggest when asked rude questions, "Why do you ask?"

@@SusanWillful & @shortcake66 the problem is that usually they've fetished you if they start by asking that question. There's a lot of stuff I had to learn about when I became disabled that's disturbing, like if someone starts filming you in public it's likely it's for disability p*rn - which is filming disabled people without their consent going about everyday tasks but particularly ones that showcase them having difficulty. So you don't want to give them that opening. Usually "that's none of your business" or "not with you" works, but they get angry. There's this weird thing of if they're able-bodied as a disabled person you should be grateful they are showing you any attention even if it's disgusting & unwanted.
That makes me livid! I have multiple chronic illnesses, and the number of people who ask, "have you tried X (especially some wacky alternative stuff) for that? My fifth cousin once removed tried that and now she's climbed Everest twice, won the Boston Marathon, and got a Ph.D. in astrophysics!"

The Dune ladies knocked it out of the park! I was surprised you didn’t mention Emily Bunt’s underwear outline on her dress, which I hated. Kevin’s Ulta experience was shocking! What is wrong with people? Absolutely, no manners or common decency. Take care.

the GASP i just did when i during the ulta story, and the lady asked about bottom surgery. i was already shocked, but like that sent me over !? Do you go up to every person with tits and a huge ass and ask when you got your surgery? Sorry, I updated this because I realized how terrible everything was typed earlier. My dyslexia got the best of me
Not the same, but ppl ask me if I had ass surgery and lip fillers just cause I have some volume in those areas. So yeah...ppl literally do that.
Like, guys, sometimes you just have a big ass/lips/boobs etc... We aren't all born with the same sizes of different body parts.
I had to watch, as soon as it posted. I think Florence Pugh's makeup was the winner. I liked Jennifer Lawrence's dress because it was sophisticated but whimsical. Johnny your eyes look amazing. I just stared at them the entire hour! And, I vote Yes to more Makeup Police.

Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure trans people get asked super invasive questions like that all the time. Random people will just demand that they explain their history and psychology and bodies to them. It really sucks.

I have to be honest I really appreciate y’all talking and diving into your experiences dealing with people like Kevin did at Ulta and Sephora, and the best way to approach certain topics regarding LGBT and trans individuals. I definitely think that woman just needed someone to talk to probably a therapist or get involved with a group of parents, whose kids are transitioning like a self-help group. The cultural climate is just ever changing and I think people in general just aren’t sure how to approach certain things and topics obviously as Kevin has witnessed.
I totally agree. I’d be willing to bet the only source of exposure that woman has had to the LGBT community is probably with her own child, and she likely has a lot of pent up confusion and fear around the subject. Her kid, who’s still figuring it out themself, likely gave her a crash course on “what it means to be trans” and she (hopefully) wants to be supportive but doesn’t know how. She def needs someone to talk to who can support her through this time…and also tell her it’s not okay to interrogate people in public!
My cousin founded a psychology center for LGBTQIA+ people. It struck me that she would say that the work usually revolved around the parents and reassuring them that their child was okay and would be able to live a good and fulfilling life, maybe have kids, etc. Then again, I am neither from the US, nor a very religious area.
I kinda winced at the suggestion to just Google it bc unfortunately the T*RFS have a much louder presence online than in real life and they definitely target moms who are having trouble accepting that their child is trans. There are good, responsible resources out there but it's a minefield.
Accosting some random visibly queer person you encounter in public is definitely not the right way to handle it either.
If i was to see Kevin in an Ulta or Sephora... I would be yelling "KEVIN!!! I NEED HELP!!!!" My next statement would be "Damn, you are tall!!" 🙂

Only 15 min in and I’m a hairstylist for 21 years and baby the stories I have. 😂 I work in a shop the last few years that mostly services men. During covid I took advantage of the time and made some life changes and lost a significant amount of weight. The things people said to me made me less proud of my accomplishment and under a microscope. Telling me when I should stop losing because I looked “bad” though I was in the high end of normal for my age/height. Asking what my husband says, what I weigh, etc. I truly can’t fathom what it must be like to be “expected” to answer questions like what happened in that ulta.

@jen7916 most people have been there at least a time or two. I freaked out before my hysterectomy this past June (endometriosis) and the summer before that, I went blind in one eye, overnight, and had to have cataract surgery at 42.
Give yourself some grace. Anxiety is normal. Treat yourself as you would treat others. I have found that more difficult than treating others how I want to be treated.

I've probably told this story before but I met Ryan Gosling with my kids on the set of Breaker High. He was the sweetest most welcoming person. He toured us around the set. Blown away, I'm dieing to ask him, how does 17 year old Ryan feel about performing at the Oscars !!!!!!!!!! So happy and proud for him. 💗

Some of this red carpet seems to be embodying Nylon's article about eyeshadow being for old ladies now (so it's not cool to wear it, or look like you're wearing makeup).
Definitely want to see more awards shows and after parties! Zendaya's look is amazing, but I think my favorite is Da'Vine Joy Randolph. The color of her dress is just stunning and I LOVE the frills on her sleeves. They remind me of hydrangeas and are so appropriate for spring!

I always love our time together. ❤ Sad about the rude Ulta customer experience for Kevin. On a positive note, I've noticed a huge increase of men hired at Ulta. Side note: they approach me often to help, whereas the female workers usually do not. I love that society is moving forward so men are natural now in a makeup store.
I swear if that lady came up to me asking me all these COMPLETELY inappropriate questions, I would be looking up down left right and center for the camera crew, the lighting, and I would just be waiting for "Hi I'm John Quinones from What Would You Do..."
