@@JM-it2zo These tests prove nothing other than the hot lap. The only 2 seater car is the most practical one? The exhaust test proves that one car can rev higher at idle. A drag race would've proved something too but a half an hour and a $300 pulley kit and you just found yourself the winner. They're all shitty to drive compared to "normal" coupes. They all make too much power for the average joe to use on the street either too. These cars are the reason EV's are taking over, and trust me I hate EV. Challengers are meant for burnouts and bragging rights, not quarter mile times. Even though that is what Dodge tries to advertise, having that much weight never helps and the wide body can barely stick to a drag strip let alone the normal versions
Jay Swan takes a driver .... a 707hp Hellcat will best a Zl1. A 797hp will destroy one. Also if you go to the drag track with a red eye you will be doing high 10s on stock rubber if you know what you’re doing

I had a Mustang and now own a Hellcat. I would take a Hellcat everyday. Mustangs and Camaros are great on the racetrack, but for the street, the Hellcat rules.
I get what they were aiming for here, and I gotta say, as a new veiwer to Edmunds, they hit the nail on the head. These 3 have great chemistry. Wonderful delivery.

The 0-60 mph times in the video are what we recorded at our test track on a street surface. If you apply a 1-ft rollout (like dragstrips and car magazines do), you get the following: GT500: 3.5 sec Camaro: 3.5 sec Redeye: 3.9 sec

After watching this, I have to wonder why many people pine for old muscle cars from the 60's? Given this trio of beasts and their exuberant performance, all I can say is that we are living in the best of car times: gobs of HP, great brakes, safety equipment, and they don't stink of exhaust and raw fuel. Good times indeed.
The three cars are amazing, I love all the three cars, if I could I would have all the three, and I think that is because for me they are no longer cars of the same category, they are only similar in appearance, the Mustang is a true American sport car, it has the appearance of a muscle / pony car, but otherwise it does not look like a real muscle / pony, nowadays the Camaro is the least similar to a muscle / pony car, it has only the appearance of a muscle / pony car, but otherwise it is very similar to many European sports cars, small, fast, impractical and easy to handle, and the Challenger remains the car that stays most true to its roots, it is still a true muscle car in all the extensions of the word, and I think it is the only true muscle car that can be obtained today, personally I repeat, if I could I would have all the three cars, because today for me they are cars of different categories, but if only I could choose or have one, I chose the Challenger, I like the style more in all aspects of the muscle cars, unless I wanted exclusively to win races, in that case, I would obviously choose the fastest and easiest to handle.
Once upon a time, I USED to be strictly a GM fan boy. Never was THAT big of a Camaro fan, though. I've always preferred it's corporate chassis stablemate, the Pontiac Trans Am. Never was a Mustang fan, either until the current 6th gen came out back in 2015. Now I've learned to love and appreciate all of the Big Three's Muscle / Pony Car offerings because they all look good and I certainly wouldn't mind owning any of these 3 cars. HOWEVER, I don't care how big and heavy the Hellkitty is... that's the car I would choose first out of this trio. It looks, sounds the best and just has a way more menacing presence IMO.
The ZL1 1LE is faster around Nurburgring than a 991.2 GT3 and costs $100,000 less. Let that sink in for a minute. Unbelievable performance from the Camaro and Mustang. Also check out 7:39 what they wrote for the Redeye. I think Camero was a joke.
Koenigsegg uses CF wheels.
paskowitz
So does the GT 350R
Egg, GT350R and the 488 pista and Ford GT.
I was going to say Koenigsegg were the ones that set the precedent for carbon wheels.
No one cares, they build a handful per year, hardly any of which are even street legal in the US...
@@sidefx996 Perhaps, but credit where credit is due. Had it not been for their innovative thinking who knows if larger manufacturers like Ford would have ever even attempted it for street legal performance cars.
Let us not forget that the 13-14 GT500 started this with 662hp stock. The Hellcat is dope but I know who fired the first shot in the hp war
and unlike the hellcat that could actually do good on the track
@@blackeye3336 I think it started with the 5th gen Camaro ZL1 and it’s a more track car than the 13/14 GT500.
I think everyone knew which car was going to win the burnout competition 😂😂
@nvdirtbiker that's what I thought too!
@nvdirtbiker Good point, but I can bet that even without the line lock, the challenge would still win.
@nvdirtbiker The brake lights were on bud. Of course it was that long.
@nvdirtbiker Can't argue with you there LOL
@nvdirtbiker I thought it was no use of the brakes after you starts moving.
I find it hilarious that muscle cars--the cars that used to not be able to turn or stop--are where they are today. I am a Ford guy but I have a soft spot for all of these.
Never let a Chevy guy to test a Ford 🤦♂️
Nerso54 For real. It’s like giving a hardcore Ferrari owner a Lamborghini to give it a lap time lol
you're right, he might actually use logic instead of feminine ass emotion like most soft ford owners have
OIR 😂😂😂 lmao I know right!
Awh cause it still lost? 🤣
Factory forced induction on almost every car ruined cars. If it weren't for EV, and maybe DOT, these cars would be coming with factory NO2 kits in a few years.
The GT500 is the ultimate Swiss army car. Does everything great.
Ryan B i would get a c8 over the gt500 with that beautiful mid engine platform and hundreds
Pounds less weight
Jesus H Medrano - Good for you no one cares. You would get left on the dust in the 1/4 and on the track.
Zapata lol i would call u a red neck racer but with that last name more of a paisa racer, wake up bro! Its 2020 any car is fast in the 1320, but road course work is whole different world, try to emplore it some time, drag racit is ok and all and stupid easy now days with automatic transmissions so it was boring fast!
Except carry back seat passengers but, of course, it wasn't designed to do that.
Chuck D it was but they hacked them off lol
This was the best comparison video I've watched of these three monsters. Thanks a lot!
This is one of the best reviews I’ve seen in a very long time. Ford has really got the new 500 pinned down and it’s finally the sports car the last few generations were not. 100 K is a bit much for a Mustang in my opinion though. However if you don’t plan a racing it then the regular 500 is more then enough. You can’t really go wrong with either of these cars in the end Chevy/ Dodge and Ford have done an outstanding job.
I love the GT500. Amazing car in every way. I can almost forgive Ford for not offering a manual transmission.
I believe the reason why it doesn't have a manual is because they didn't have any manuals that could handle the power.
@@freddieredding4565 I wish they would have worked with Tremec to make one. They probably figured it wasn't worth the effort for the amount of people who would have wanted the manual.
Freddie Redding i don’t think that’s the case buut reason they didn’t make it a stick was probably cause of how fast that dct shifts
@@dnsbb8033 Definitely a huge factor in their decision. Seems like manuals will be a thing of the past within the next few years. Maybe one day the manual transmission cars will go up in value?
Car Story even my C5 corvette can out handle that over priced piece of shit Ford.
Really wish the gt500 had a louder supercharger whine! Other than that it's perfect.
Well done Edmunds!
Edmunds doing the Lord's work these days, great job everyone!
The reviews of these three cars are the first time I have seen these three people together doing a video like this, and I can't help but love their chemistry together. The longer I watched the more I thought that they would be amazing together in a Top Gear or The Grand Tour style show. I bet they would be amazing to watch on road trip adventures as well as the reviews they are already doing so well. Thanks for the great video!
That Mustang could have been driven harder.
if it was driven any harder the warranty would expire
Honestly all of them could have been. But its whatever.
Challenger-Drag
Camaro-track/fun
Mustang-ww3 vet
In the first video they dragged them. Not on a prepped surface but the hellcat lost everytime. 🤷♂️
Challengers are meant for burnouts and bragging rights, not quarter mile times. Even though that is what Dodge tries to advertise, having that much weight never helps and the wide body can barely stick to a drag strip let alone the normal versions
@@ayushmalpeddi2793 That's a bit extreme don't ya think? What are u running that can beat them?
Challenger - I’m focus on one thing , and perfect it
Ford - I got an idea , watch this ..
Chevy - great idea ford, it could be better if you did this
Jay Swan takes a driver .... a 707hp Hellcat will best a Zl1. A 797hp will destroy one.
Also if you go to the drag track with a red eye you will be doing high 10s on stock rubber if you know what you’re doing
3:40 “Camero” lol
Daniel G LOL! unfortunately, so many people think she’s correct.
Tilts head "IS THAT A SUPRA"!
Camaro zl1 lol
Jules B I was assuming they’re joking. At least I hoped so...🤦♂️
No respect on the Camaro name I tell ya.😑
love the chemistry and how everybody got equal respect and screen time. nobody had to mansplain anything to anyone. the filming was absolutely gorgeous - definitely on-par with TopGear and the like.
I love this comparison. I got my 2020 GT500 9 months ago. Just started a page myself. I admire the work you guys do. Keep it up👍
How much u pay a month if u don't mind?
@@nismoaltima1326 mine $0 I sold the car few months back. For any car loan with good credit expect $15-$20 per month per $1000 financed.

🤣
This mustang is amazing
"Rolling burnout test with no brakes" I think you mean how long does your car take to regain traction.
I cannot be the only one who was just obsessed over the mustang gt500 throughout the whole video
I had a Mustang and now own a Hellcat. I would take a Hellcat everyday. Mustangs and Camaros are great on the racetrack, but for the street, the Hellcat rules.
Screw electric self driving cars when you have pure muscle that can do all of this 💪💪
YES ! YES ! YES !

So the gt500 is designed the best to handle the hp, wow big surprise. Ford for actual performance measured results!!!
BBMustang514, no doubt, the GT 500 hooks. Spinning ain’t winning!
I get what they were aiming for here, and I gotta say, as a new veiwer to Edmunds, they hit the nail on the head. These 3 have great chemistry. Wonderful delivery.
Great video. Love this trio as presenters. My one suggestion would be to also test with the same tire on the road course.
That mustang is so badass, track and drag strip capable, good breaking for a muscle car, handles as well as many high level sports cars. What a nice car.
It’s cool. But it’s still a mustang
@@AndyGarcia-ch1ci so ...not a mustang fan i gather? Lol
dork diggler the hate is real haha

You like sitting in a truck platform muscle car, it sits so high, well everyone has their own taste.
ZL1 1LE looks so aggressive and just looks better overall imo but I prefer the 2018 tail lights instead of the 2019-2020
I prefer the 2018 tail lights too, imo both the ZL11LE and the GT500 CFTP look incredibly aggressive and so cool and badass.
New tailights look straight out of 2001
To do a proper burnout in an automatic Camaro you have to put it in launch control mode, and turn off stabilitrack.
Ford all the way 👌🏻
Camaro zl1 all the way
Marco Jordan you seen the results
Mustangs all the way
Camaro Zl1 1LE all the way
@@marcojordan1368 sorry bud the camaro could have been way better but chevy decides to make it more and more like a sports car and not like a muscle car I like chevy but these new cars there making suck
What kind of gearhead would misspell "Camaro" on a strip of tape?
"I want every single inch" that's what she literally said.
🤦🏾♂️
"What she said".. literally! 🤣
Or when she tries to watch over the bulge.
I would rather have traction than a huge burnout.
They are all winners, all are ridiculously fun!
linkthegunner the only losers are us......... because we cannot afford them.
At Barrett Jackson 2050, which one sells for most?
These three have really good on camera chemistry. Very easy to watch👍
This episode has made this channel my favourite!
I'd like to see a comparison with for full grown adults in each car
Kinny Bingman I wonder which one would win that 🤔
Do u mean 300 pound cheeseburger sweating 'muricans??? They ARE full grown adults maaaaan
200 would be sufficient but 300 would be a lot funnier
Wow. That Mustang Shelby 500 is damn sexy.
0-60
Mustang 3.3
Camero 3.5
Red eye 3.8
The 0-60 mph times in the video are what we recorded at our test track on a street surface. If you apply a 1-ft rollout (like dragstrips and car magazines do), you get the following:
GT500: 3.5 sec
Camaro: 3.5 sec
Redeye: 3.9 sec
Camaro !
@@edmundscars ..Obviously the Challenger couldn't hook up..My bone stock 2016 707 hp runs quicker than that! I also ran 10.98 on street tires at the track! You have to know how to drive them...Easily to manipulate crappy times especially if you dont like the brand...I can make a Camaro run 4.3 0-60 if I wanted too!
01trsmar Not the point. Challengers will only do sub 3.5 second 0-60 times if your on a prepped surface. Otherwise no chance unlike the Shelby and the Camaro. Here were the numbers I found online from motor trend and their respective companies
3.4 Seconds for the Camaro
3.5 for the Shelby
Edmunds dodge said the hellcat redeye does 3.4 0-60 not 3.9 the Camaro does 3.5 and the gt500 does 3.3 what are you all talking about y’all supposed to know your cars but nah wth the drag race should have went the gt500 then the redeye then the zl1 1le .10.6 10.8 11.4
it's the GT500 Mustang, that car is unreal.
Can I just say how much more entertaining these folks are that the new Top Gear? The practicality test was genuinely funny.
"Camero" on the burnout tape???? cmon guys lol

It was a joke. That's why they were all laughing and it was spelled correctly on the graphic on the screen
Yup! Old school joke. I drive a 2002 WS6 and people often say my car is a CAMERO lol

Love the video. I want one of each!
2 of each! You will probably crash them...
I'll stick with my C6 Z06, but those are impressive!
I’m a mustang fan but imma be honest.. all of these cars are just what an American dream would look like.
Hope to try this gt500 badass soon ❤️
After watching this, I have to wonder why many people pine for old muscle cars from the 60's? Given this trio of beasts and their exuberant performance, all I can say is that we are living in the best of car times: gobs of HP, great brakes, safety equipment, and they don't stink of exhaust and raw fuel. Good times indeed.
visceral experience
I have the new ZL1 1LE in the same color as the one in this video. It's by far the best overall performance car that you can get for the money.
The three cars are amazing, I love all the three cars, if I could I would have all the three, and I think that is because for me they are no longer cars of the same category, they are only similar in appearance, the Mustang is a true American sport car, it has the appearance of a muscle / pony car, but otherwise it does not look like a real muscle / pony, nowadays the Camaro is the least similar to a muscle / pony car, it has only the appearance of a muscle / pony car, but otherwise it is very similar to many European sports cars, small, fast, impractical and easy to handle, and the Challenger remains the car that stays most true to its roots, it is still a true muscle car in all the extensions of the word, and I think it is the only true muscle car that can be obtained today, personally I repeat, if I could I would have all the three cars, because today for me they are cars of different categories, but if only I could choose or have one, I chose the Challenger, I like the style more in all aspects of the muscle cars, unless I wanted exclusively to win races, in that case, I would obviously choose the fastest and easiest to handle.
impractical?
Rift33SRT yessir. Everybody forgets that drag radials exist with this car.
You spelled Camaro wrong on the ground tape during the burnout
That was fun to watch. Thank you all for the heavy chuckles.
The Red GT500 with white stripes is the best looking muscle car on the market holy shit. The others look sick too though
The ZL1 1LE is faster around Nurburgring than a 991.2 GT3 and costs $100,000 less. Let that sink in for a minute. Unbelievable performance from the Camaro and Mustang.
Before people used to complain about how American cars can’t handle, and now they bitch and moan about the turn signal stalk not being covered in leather.
Get fucked.
Funny how the Camaro and hellcat held breaks longer that the start and mustang pretty much didn’t at all
Sam Batchelor its a track machine not a stupid burn out machine.
Jesus H Medrano well then you don’t know about American Muscle. Go stick with your German stuff that is in the shop constantly😐
Ya the hell cat was bumped for a split second longer also.
Ayush Malpeddi lol dumbss am the most anti german car person u have ever met! All am saying is this car are not drag machine plain and simple if your a simpleton that all u know is to go strait then am sorry for you! Try going to a race track so you can talk with the big boys, till the shhhh
@@gigi9467 No arguing that but he did not get the tires spinning enough before letting off the brake like the other two cars. Sam Batchelor was not knocking your car but the driver.
The Camaro looks like a fighter jet
I feel like the Hellcat, ZL1 1LE, and GT500 are a celebration and a love letter of what a relatively cheap but immensely powerful American car can be before Detroit starts diving into electric.
After watching this Never compete a Mustang in sound 💪
"I want every single inch"! That's literally, "what she said"!
😂
About price: "As tested" would be true. But the camaro and challenger aren't new. Zl1 1le are currently 50-55k sticker under 10k miles. Much cheaper
Lol my local dealer selling them for 57k-60k brand new no one is buying them I seen other dealers offer them for as low as 54k brand new
@@alexramirez-zo1fx This depends on mileage, condition and many other factors. Sticker and sold are far different values.
The point being, the value of these are huge and they are relatively cheap
"The Challenger is a giggle factory" Truest statement ever lol I enjoyed this one, pretty fair to all the cars, none of them really did "bad" and for what you end up paying for a GT500 you would hope it could edge out a ZL1 and Redeye on certain things.
Don’t you WANT the shortest burnout? The less wheel spin there is the quicker the power gets put down. Seems like an advantage to me.
