I lived there from 1980 to 1989. It was a great place to grow up as a young boy. Living up on the North side of town (Woodman & I-25) up in the foot hills we didn't see many officers. I think my only interactions with them is when they did school visits.
I think this is a good thing, gives police semi practical training with community outreach. Keeps them engaged more than the same 5-6 building simulator would

I presume it would also do a fairly good job finding people hidden in thin structures like roofs, sheds and outdoor boxes. Did people ever conceal stuff in stone slab patios and paths? That seems like an easy way to make a hiding spot really undetectable.

When I was a teenager I jumped in some big weeds and the cops were 2ft away from me with flashlights pointed in my direction. They yelled for me to come out but they were bluffing after a few minutes they said naw he ain't here. I'm thinking it depends on what they want you for. Remember that the cops in this video is learning how to find people hiding from them. Sure it's just police playing hide and seek with civilians, but the police are learning how to win the game, which in another situation may not be just a game! They’re not expected to respond to an emergency if they’re not in active duty, the officers actually working that shift do.
