Owing money is the easiest way to die in Prison

  • Garrett shares his experience regarding a riot in Bloody Beaumont.
    .
Born into a family of Marines, you'd think that he'd be living a dream life. But that's not how things went for Garrett. Introduced to alcohol and drugs at a young age, he left home and joined a gang.
On his 19th birthday, he recalls himself going to Arizona to meet a friend:
"Hey Bro, your birthday present is under a magazine on the coffee table. And uh… There's not a lot of stuff that gets under a magazine on the coffee table. . I thought it was money, honestly, and I lifted it up, (there was) a little line (of white powder).
Ok dude. I thought alright cool, we're gonna do a little bit of coke, we're gonna get drunk, we're gonna get in trouble… And I snorted it, man, definitely not cocaine, you know what I mean. It burned way bad. Introduction to meth and I was instantly hooked."
His life turned from being a Beer Nazi living with one of the toughest gangs in the state of California to a complete drug addict. He found himself in and out of jail like a cycle.
Weighing in at 140 pounds in 2015, he was jaundiced and could barely walk. He knew he was dying and he was still shooting dope in his arm. It was then he found out that he contracted Hepatitis B, C, and E.
He was told, "You've got 6 months more to live so make the most of it."
After hearing those words, it was his 'AHA' moment. He went back to jail and told himself he wanted to die high. A previous inmate came back to the yard looking healthy compared to the time he left where he was desperate to get some dope. But this time, he brought the BIG BOOK.
With just one reading, Garrett gave his money, his dope, and every drug paraphernalia he had on him and wanted to start living sober. Find out what happened to Garrett and how he dealt with getting clean while battling a deadly disease.

@@Jason.cbr1000rr In my experience there is a pretty common theme of trauma and/or mental illness. There are so many reasons I could go on and on. Nature vs nurture kind of thing. Sometimes you hear someone’s story and it’s so horrific you instantly understand. Developing a drinking problem later in life is common with bariatric surgery patients. A lot of people start with prescribed meds and take a long pathway down. Divorce. Shitty parents. Covid… the reasons are endless for men and women. I’m a recovering addict, working on 4 years of total sobriety after 10-15 years of using heroin and whatever else was around . My childhood was great, no other addictions in my family. Started using in high school to fit in and checked out from life. 8 trips to rehab in 8 years, three trips to jail, multiple overdoses, homelessness etc etc. I only say that to say that recovery IS possible.

I still have prison habbits, like flushing the damn toilet a couple times while I take a shit....lol.

I have far more respect for someone like Garrett who once lived in darkness, but has now elevated himself to a much higher vibration, than I do for many here in the free world. We have everything you could want here, but great numbers of people choose to live in a very low spiritual condition. Or completely disconnected from higher thought and intention. I like that he didn't cover his tattoos, to remember who he used to be. That's real. But that's not who he is now. Our society has entered a stage where the very concept of forgiveness is being abandoned and disparaged in homogeneous mass culture. As though a man cannot ever change his heart. But he can. This is a far greater achievement than simply skating through life without ever having done anything that bad, but never doing anything good either. I only hope I can uplift myself as substantially as this.

Met a guy who went to prison that used to joke that "If you wanna kill yourself in prison, just front some drugs and don't pay the guy back!"
It seemed pretty true, and this reinforces that lmao

Wish his interviews were longer . And I wanted to know what happened after the riot, did the two guys live? Was it peace after that, how does that get resolved ?

Them 2 guys got shipped out to a different prison. And the racial tension just went back to normal after the lockdown of maybe a week or 2 or 3 or 3months. Lockdowns are completely arbitrary

Garrett is a great guest. Looks like he's really got his life together. That's awesome. He has some great stories. Prison sounds fucking awful.

It pains me to see all these gang members thinking they are TOUGH stabbing, fighting and hurting people.. The TOUGH ones are the people who work, study and grind daily to build wealth, it takes so much to always better yourself on a daily basis... I can teach 12yr old to pull the trigger, thats why there are so many child soldiers in Africa, its just that easy... Hard is studying, working and building....

Big Herc looks like he might have had a bicep tear (right bicep). Could just be a naturally short muscle belly though.
